We hired people to remove and install a new water heater…read morein November 2023 and they scratched and dented up our floor very badly (see a few pics I attached which are worse in person than they look in the pics); which we only saw after the installer left. They are deep and very obvious/noticeable scratches that cannot be fixed without fixing the entire floor in the house, as it's all the same wood and style. I emailed them, called more than 3 times leaving a voicemail and messages with whomever answered the phone. I was told they would let the manager know, but I never received a response from anyone. At that point I figured it wasn't worth it. Then, fast forward to a few weeks, (now 2.5 years later), we find out we had a gas leak. The People's Gas repairmen came quickly and said they were shocked at how loosely the pipes for the water heater were put together! He showed me how he didn't even need a tool to take them apart! In two small twists the pipes were off! So apparently, for 2.5 years, we have had a gas leak and didn't know and are very lucky to be alive at this point. We have a child and have many family members and friends over! We are appalled! So, not only did this company permanently destroy our floor and act extremely unprofessional by totally ignoring us, but they almost killed us due to their negligence! Literally ANY company would be a better choice.

I reached out to my brother-in-law, who does plumbing, and he said it was a fair amount. Still, he lives in another state and wanted a second opinion here in Chicago. I found VanderBosch because they ranked high on Google when I asked about the job. Actually, they had a whole blog post about the service and I learned a lot. Jordan called me back and let me run down the whole project and told me what they would charge. I walked away from the conversation really wanting to give the job to VanderBosch, but Jordan is a straight-shooter and told me that they couldn't finish the job as fast as his competitor (for boring, but significant reasons). So, this competitor to the initial company took the time to call me back, listen to my issue, give me the straight facts, and all because he was so focused on the well-being of a potential customer that in the end, couldn't even book his company. Why can't everybody be like this? This is some real "city of big shoulder" stuff from a Chicago-based company. In the end, I wasn't able to hire VanDerBosch, but they have a down payment on a future customer.

I wish I was kidding, but I'm not. So, needless to say, I needed a new toilet fast, as I only have one bathroom. I hopped on Yelp and searched for plumbers and saw that this one was open 24/7, so I called at 9pm. It's not that I was looking for 24/7 service, but I just wanted to get the ball rolling, so I could take care of this first thing the next morning. I was surprised someone answered that wasn't from an answering service, and like that, the ball was moving! I told him I needed a new 14-in rough-in toilet. That's a non-standard size, so I was worried about getting something in a timely manner and if I needed to special order a toilet. He said he would call around to some suppliers in the morning and try to find me a new toilet. The next morning, my plumber located a toilet (believe me, 14-in is rare, weird and annoying to find!), ordered it, picked it up and installed it by 4pm. My exploded toilet was replaced within 24 hours!!! Also, I felt the quote was very reasonable for locating, ordering, delivery and installing a new toilet. What they saved me in time and headaches made it worth every penny. I thoroughly recommend Your Helpful Plumber, because they lived up to their name 100%.

I own a town home. I've had numerous problems with my sewer and have had several plumbers look at…read moreit. Most recently about 25 feet of sewer line outside my garage crashed. The first plumber knew there was a problem because he put about 40 feet of rod through the clean out in the kitchen, which came with the house. He noted that it was only about 17 feet to the sewer main. He didn't have a camera and never came back. I called the plumber I normally use. I thought that if I was going to change a pipe, I might as well have a clean out installed. He located the problem and dug a hole about 5 feet down. There wasn't a pipe there. Before talking to me, he dug a hole a couple feet away and changed a pipe to install a clean out. He threw out the pipe before I could see it and tried to convince me that there was a second problem. He didn't come back to seal the hole until I called the Illinois Attorney General. I called a third plumber who located the problem in the common area. He dug a hole so deep they hand to dig a stairway so they could get in and out. I called a fourth plumber who located the break on a 45 degree angle in the common area. I contacted All Star Plumbing and Sewer. Michael found the problem right away. They dug a hole about 3 feet deep 6 inches from where the second plumber dug his first hole around 2 feet from the end of the clean out. The pipe actually went straight down. It kind of makes sense because some units had basements, but the issue is I had about 15 feet of unnecessary pipe and about 3 unnecessary turns. All Star fixed that design flaw by putting an elbow on the end of the pipe and turning it out. They verified that there were no tie ins after that point. I put gallons of water through that pipe to test it. It works great. The other thing is All Star is legit. As part of the due diligence, I checked his license with both Chicago and Illinois on their web site. He gave me a copy of his insurance certificate. I even checked his business with the State of Illinois and it's in good standing. He gave me the permit and dig numbers. I could see where the utility companies marked the lines. I was there with the building inspector when he examined the work. He wouldn't take Bill or my word for anything. He wanted to see it. The inspection passed with flying colors. He was listed as A+ on the Better Business Bureau's web site. His Yelp reviews were all 5 Star. I agree All Star Plumbing and Sewer deserves all the stars so I'm giving them another 5 start review. The icing on the cake is their price is reasonable.

I called All Rooter, and they came out to take a look and quoted a fair price. They were able to schedule me for a couple days later. While doing the cleaning, they said that they noticed a break in the line to the main sewer and explained the Private Drain Program, saying that they were able to provide the service for calling the city inspector and getting a work order approved to repair it. They were polite, friendly, and very communicative throughout the entire process. They walked me through exactly what was needed and what would happen going forward.
