Wonderful, Winning Window Company!…read more We needed to replace one picture window in our living room that was ruined from condensation. After a thorough search of window companies in the area, I decided to hire Window Depot of Southern Connecticut. Not only do they offer competitive prices and have excellent customer reviews, but they are locally owned by Steve O'Keefe. I also appreciated their old-fashioned customer service over the phone. Before I hired the company, Steve, along with manager Manuel Amarillo, were very generous with their time and provided me with a variety of products and quotes. In fact, the "leading brand" window company that I had previously conducted business with now "requires" two homeowners for a window quote. Really? What a demeaning tactic. Anyway, I made the right decision by hiring Window Depot. From start to finish, Manny communicated with me every step of the way and showed up at the exact time promised and handled the job efficiently with a smile on his face. The team also includes Louis, Jeffrey and Pedro. EVERYONE on the team is friendly, professional, honest and accommodating in every way. Window Depot's windows are USA-made, energy-efficient and come in a variety of timeless styles and designs. Interestingly, after a relatively long wait, the factory delivered a defective window, but it was replaced almost immediately by the factory. They really are a five-star company. (I removed a half of a star because we had a garbage pickup issue that was finally resolved!) Overall, Steve has a winning, honest, dedicated team and I would, without a doubt, recommend Window Depot to everyone.

After over 2 months trying to get on their schedule (which included 4 follow-up calls on my part because I never received a return call from them), they finally came. While the basic window turned out great, my side window at the front door did not have the best outcome (see picture). The guys left with the screws showing. I called immediately after realizing this and the guys working on it said this is how it was when they started. Are you kidding me?! It looks ridiculous with the screws showing and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed this. The other identical side window has the plugs. They said they would come back and silicone caulk the openings - which I can do myself. I asked them to find the plugs that cover the screws in these kind of frames. They found some and told me to come pick them up - my husband said they gave some pretty bad attitude when he went to pick them up. Of course they don't fit. So now I'm stuck trying to fix this eye sore on my own. I will not use them again.

Not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but the only company to provide an in-home demo of the actual windows we were purchasing. With such a big home improvement project, you want to feel confident that you made the right choice. Shortly after signing the paperwork, they sent someone out to measure. Then we waited quite a while for the job to be scheduled. Unfortunately, installation occurred during a weeklong heat wave. Yet the guys rarely complained, and spent four full days installing our windows. If I have any complaints, it's about their after sale customer service. The day our installation wrapped up, I noticed a slash in one of the screens, and was assured they'd order a replacement and have it sent to us. Three months later we still had no screen, so my husband and I started calling. Every call was treated as a brand new sales call and no one seemed to know anything about our replacement screen. Finally, someone came out and made us a new screen onsite. However, he re-screened it too tightly, and the frame warped. More phone calls and more confusion on their part made us feel like we were in the twilight zone. Ultimately, we took the frame to their office and they fixed it there, which was an additional inconvenience. Other than these few snafus, we're happy with the work.

I purchased two doors from Pella CTNY for $12,235. When I found out the installation wouldn't…read moreactually be handled by Pella themselves, I asked about getting my deposit back. I was told not to worry and that their top installer with over 20 years of experience would be handling. I agreed to move forward based on that promise. On the day of the install, someone completely different showed up. This person hadn't taken the original measurements and clearly wasn't the experienced installer I had been promised. That's when the problems started. First, they didn't bring any framing lumber and had to ask the contractor working on my siding if he had any pressure-treated wood to spare. Then they ripped off my interior trim but had nothing to replace it with. When I asked about it, the installer just shrugged and said they didn't send any with him. Worst of all, one of the doors drags on the floor and the other doesn't latch properly. When I asked if he could fix them, he said no and seemed completely unsure of what to do. I contacted the store and they sent out a field rep to take a look. He agreed that the doors weren't working properly but brushed it off by saying nothing is perfect and that it's just construction. Another rep told me the doors just need to settle, which isn't an acceptable explanation. They later proposed doing something called a "recovery installation," which meant sending the same technician back to try to fix the job he had already done poorly. I refused, because at this point I no longer trust them to make things right--and I'm concerned they'll only make things worse. The installer left my home knowing the doors weren't working properly, and that tells me everything I need to know. Looking back, I should have gotten my deposit back and paid more attention to the negative reviews Pella CTNY has. For the price I paid, this entire experience has been a huge letdown. I have basic Home Depot doors that work better than these. I regret going with Pella and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
