Decided to get a second opinion as I did not feel real confident with the tech. Mr. Rooter dispatch was so pleasant and sent Konrad out to investigate. He actually got through the problem with very little effort and put us at easy. He was punctual, very neat and tidy and also did free plumbing inspection. He also left us with info on how to care for the drains so we do not have another occurrence. I was extremely happy and grateful.

On Oct 29, 2025 I requested a quote from Mr. Mike's Plumbing to cap off a gas line to a fireplace…read morethat I was removing. The representative arrived and advised he had to do an inspection of the gas line to determine what needed to be done and ensure that it was in good condition and that there would be a charge for the inspection. He spent about 15 minutes inspecting and advised that he would have to make a number of holes in the dry wall ceiling below the fireplace to find where the gas line could be capped off. I advised him and showed him a hole that I had cut in the floor as I was replacing the floor and that the gas line could be capped off within a few feet of the fireplace. You could see the direction that the gas line was running through the hole. He also advised that their service trucks were well stocked with all the materials that would be required to cap off the gas line. He then called the technician who was to do the work and advised him of what had to be done. In addition he made a number of calls to his other customers and spent approximately 1 hour at my place mostly spent on making calls to other customers. The technician arrived to start doing the work around 8:00 PM. I had already cut the hole in the floor to fully expose the connection that had to be capped and it would only require the disconnection of the gas line to the fireplace and put a simple cap on it. He shut off the gas line and went to his truck to get the cap. He was there for almost half an hour searching for the cap but didn't have one so he fashioned something together using about 4 fittings to cap off the line. I went down stairs while he started on the work of disconnect the gas line from the main line. I heard him struggling for about 15 minutes to try to disconnect the gas line from the main line so I went upstairs to see what the problem was. I observed that he was tightening the fitting instead of turning it the right way to loosen it. I explained to him that he had to turn it the opposite way to loosen it which he did successfully. I would think that disconnecting the small gas line and capping it could easily have been done within about half an hour at the most by a competent gas fitter. He finally finished capping the line off and advised that it was company policy that he now had to re-inspect the work which would be an additional charge for his inspection. I asked him what he was going to inspect and he couldn't explain what he was inspecting for. He then went to his truck and phoned his office I presume to get direction on how to handle this inspection. He came back and advised me that I did not have to pay for an additional inspection. The total charge for this fiasco was $488.23 which would have been over $100.00 more if they had not cancelled the charge for the second inspection. It is my opinion that the incompetence of the company and the cost of disconnecting a fully exposed gas line and capping it off which could have been done with 1 cap with easy access is excessive. This is taking advantage of senior citizens. The owner of the company did not return my call although they did offer to give me $50 back which I refused. If there was a rating of less than 1 I would have certainly given it to this company.

This review could go very long if I write all the accolades that are deserving to Big Springs…read morePlumbing for the work they have done for us over the past while, and in a previous rental home. We hired Big Springs recently to replace all of the de-listed poly B piping in our 1990's home in Airdrie. This was a large job with spidering pipes throughout the house. They did a fantastic job, were responsive throughout, and completed in a timely manner at a reasonable rate. Mike was my initial contact and he was great with meeting and walking through and explaining the process and getting it all going. We chose Big Springs due to outstanding service that we had received previously when we were renting, by Matt, who went above and beyond and proved to us that this is a company with heart and integrity. Hence why they got this piping job. Along with doing our piping I asked for a recommendation of a contractor to handle the drywall and paint, since our house was being cut top to bottom. (We are new to Airdrie, so we put all our trust in these guys) On their recommendation we brought on Jordan from Concept Construction Service LTD. This too proved to be a great choice and we are equally pleased with the work of Jordan at Concept Construction. Would not hesitate to recommend him too! The job is seamless and our pipes work great and our new walls and paint looks beautiful. Big springs also replaced our Hot water heater, frost free valves and two new toilets, etc. If you are trying to decide whether to use these guys or not, there should be no hesitation. Their workmanship is great, their service has been great (Thank you Matt, Mike, Jason and all others who helped on the job, and the friendly office staff) and in my opinion are very trustworthy. Renovations can be VERY stressful, however this group of people mentioned above made it much easier and less stressful before, during and after the job was completed. More recently I thought i was having a major issue which turned out to be my user error... thanks for your quick response to my moment of stress and anxiety Matt and Mike!!
