What was supposed to be a reasonably siple job turned into something a lot more interesting as the fixtures were original to the builing (+25 years) and parts were almost impossible to find. Most plumbers would have given up and simply provided a quote for, "new". He searched high and low (iterally I think) for the one part for the toilet to make it functional. His persistence paid off! His price was extremely reasonable and I would strongly recommend him based on the experience I had regarding his repairs. Wow, $550 for labor to fix a leaking fitting on a pump. Half a day's wages for a 1-hour job. Talk…read moreabout stretching a job. Somehow he broke the fitting off the pump. So now he had to remove the pump. All the technician had to do was close the 2 valves on either side of the pump, cut out the pump, remove the leaking fitting and re-install. He went back to town to look for parts. Came back a few hours later without the pump. He installed a temporary line between the two valves with a galvanized union. This step was totally unnecessary. For a week before he showed up we ran the system with the pump already isolated. He wasted 2 hours in the afternoon of the first day putting in a temporary line that was unnecessary. He also drained the hot water tank for no apparent reason. Then he wasted time trying to remove the soldered tubing from the old pump. Finally he came back the next day and he installed a new pump because he was unable to remove the soldered piece from the old pump. He replaced a perfectly good pump. I bet you I'll have no trouble removing the tubing from the old pump. He replaced the galvanized union with a brass one. Then I get a bill for over $900. Brutal over charging.
