In addition to the apple pie slice, we bought a toffee cream one. We ate it soon after our visit. It was delicious. The pale crust reminded me of shortbread, the filling light, sweet, and creamy, with what seemed to be Heath bits throughout. It was great and surprisingly not filling at all. As for the apple pie comparison, Betty's version was more cohesive a crust and easier to eat, but it was also surprisingly bland. The thicker crust at the edge was dry, too. The fillings from both bakeries were quite close, both good. From Betty's, we liked the cream pie slice much more than the apple. For classic double-crust apple, Rustic was best between the two.

What's awesome here is that three of the lighthouses buildings are open to be toured, including the tower itself (which was way too crowded for my comfort), the keeper's quarters that have been restored to 20th century decorations and the assistant keeper's quarters that have been restored to late 19th century. We had an absolutely awesome experience tonight…read more We started at the Duluth Huskies stadium (Wade Stadium) and enjoyed a behind the scenes tour of the field, locker room, and grounds, we were also treated to stories about the history of the team. The general manager was our tour guide... he was one of the friendliest and knowledgeable people I've ever met! The stadium and team are rich with history, even down to the bricks they used to erect the entrance to the field. Dave was our bus driver and tour guide for the night. After the stadium tour he took us to Bent Paddle where we were able to samples some brews and enjoy the atmosphere, what a cool place! Their beers are outstanding! The 14 degrees ESB is a GABF (Great American Beer Festival) winner! I would highly recommend trying it. There's an awesome BBQ joint that will deliver to the tasting room too! We ended the night back at the stadium with a Huskies' baseball game. The won in walkoff fashion! It was a great game! We are looking foreword to another tour. I would highly recommend a tour with Duluth Experience.

I was in Duluth for my brother's wedding and didn't know anything about the city or the area. I was with my then-boyfriend and we knew it was a beautiful area, but wasn't sure the best way to experience it all. That is when I booked us on the Scenic North Shore Bicycle Tour. It was by far the best thing we did in Duluth (minus watching my brother get married,ha) and we were raving about it to all the weddings guests all weekend. The guys running the show were great to talk to and they clearly thought of everything. If you are traveling to Duluth and want to really have the best tour guides, book with them.

This building is also connected internally by a second-story walkway. The staff was friendly as usual, and the always stocked popcorn, ice-cold tea and lemonade in the lobby, is always a treat. Unlike other of your experienced, when evening rolled around, there were fires lit at all three locations, including the one all the way down on the beach. I will say with this being the first time stay in the annex for me. That building in particular seems a little bit more outdated than others. Including some disrepair like a cracked window that was scotch taped back together. Between the really low counter and shower head there was some mild annoyance as well. The interior pool area is also in need of some maintenance. But the outdoor pool deck still feels amazing! Another slight draw back from this stay was the key card annoyance. Even though there is a promising NFC looking logo on the cards, these are still the old magstrip style that most hotels have moved away from. If you have a MagSafe equipped iPhone 12 from 2020 or newer and you place your keycard in the same pocket by mistake it will nuke your keycard on a heartbeat and you'll have to take a trip to the front desk to regain access to your room. Overall I've made some great memories here over the years and will continually plan to return.

Beds were rough -so no one got a good nights sleep. The air conditioner was not keeping up so my husband (HVAC) opened it to find a filter that was so full it wouldn't let the air through. He went to the front desk and asked for it to be cleaned. They bring us a new filter and my husband put it in. Very humid in the room. That night we did 's'mores on the beach' - I realize they were 'free' but the Graham crackers were stale. We did not eat at the property as it seemed a skosh high. For the price of two nights - $603 02 - I was expecting a little more Or a discount for the air conditioner inconvenience. The lady that checked us out was not as friendly as the original gals.. For a family weekend - it was a bust.
