Having good location and good food is certainly correct. Good or acceptable customer service is certainly not the case. Creating an artificial line to appear popular is an old trick. Wow... their customer service is incredible. They took what was a very uncomfortable experience into an accommodating situation. We were given an opportunity to give them a second chance. Pending new review. -------- Original review : I hate writing negative reviews, but unfortunately today's experience at Superica left a bad taste in my mouth. For starters, the restaurant wasn't ready to open. The doors didn't open until approximately 10:10 AM, and employees were still actively preparing the restaurant while guests waited. The seating process felt chaotic, and overall the staff appeared disengaged and unenthusiastic. Everyone--from the hosts to the servers to the kitchen staff--seemed to be moving at a pace slower than molasses. It certainly wasn't the energetic brunch atmosphere I remembered. Our server, was particularly disappointing. Despite arriving early, we waited over 30 minutes for our food while multiple tables seated after us (with different servers) were already eating. We repeatedly had to ask for water refills, chip refills, and basic service needs. Whenever we needed him, he seemed to have vanished like the last tortilla chip in the basket. The service issues continued throughout the meal. We requested to-go boxes and were handed a stack of five-plus containers, but no bag. After waiting, I eventually had to track down another server myself to get one. At that point, it felt like I had been promoted from customer to assistant waiter. The most frustrating moment came at the end of the meal. Before we had even requested the check and while I was actively packing leftovers into my to-go containers, Blake seemed overly eager to clear the table. In the process, my to-go containers were knocked to the ground, and my phone ended up falling and cracking. What should have been a routine cleanup turned into an expensive and frustrating ending to an already disappointing experience. To make matters worse, prices have increased significantly. I would not recommend the huevos rancheros. For the current price, receiving what amounted to two small eggs and roughly a quarter of an avocado served over chips felt underwhelming and difficult to justify. The one bright spot remains the pancakes, which continue to be consistently excellent. I've enjoyed Superica in the past, which makes it especially disappointing to see the decline in service, attention to detail, and overall value. Went here on a Wednesday after work. We made reservations. Our service was great, Daisy was our waitress. She had just the right balance of checking in on us but not over doing it. The food came out quick and was delicious. Highly recommend the quac as an appetizer. I got the steak fajitas and added shrimp. The steak was outstanding. The butter sauce that comes with it is addicting! A person in our party got the bacon wrapped shrimp which was devine. The bacon was smokey and delicious and paired nicely with the shrimp. Service was great until a lady with a dog was seated next to us outside when 1/2 of the tables were empty. Food was great and we were served quickly. But my nose immediately started running and so far this week I have had nose irritation and sores and congestion due to dog hair. First, please stop dogs in restaurants even on patios. Hair flies and dogs come over to where you are and frankly, a dog does not need to be at a place where you have to worry about the dog hair getting g in your food! Love Superica Avalon! We've been several times now and even drop in just to grab their fire roasted salsa to have on hand at home. The Queso Fundido appetizer is my absolute favorite, followed closely by the Tuna Tostada, and Ensalada "Superica". For the main, I love the steak fajitas made "macha". The steak is cooked and seasoned to perfection, just thinking about it makes me want to go back for more! I've also tried the shrimp diablo and cauliflower macha and have enjoyed them as well. The cocktails are really fun if you enjoy a good cocktail. I've tried and enjoyed the Bandit Queen, Ginger, and Blood Orange margs so far. The service has always been great, servers are so nice and friendly, and the restaurant is typically pretty full of families and couples alike. 3.5 and rounded up. Came with a few friends for a mid-afternoon snack around 2:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant was about 50% full and the host showed us to seats right away. Menus were already placed on the table and once we sat down the servers brought water to the table and gave us time to order. The waitress we had was quite bright and bubbly and explained that she was training another staff member who was standing by her side. They came out first with chip and two types of salsa for the table--a green one and a darker green one haha I can't recall the exact difference but one was spicier--both were good. We ordered: - GUACAMOLE with tostadas, lime $13: for the table that came with thicker chips though it was maybe 9-10 chips which wasn't quite enough for the guac, though no biggie since the regular chips worked too. The guac was tasty, had chunks of avocado in it, nothing special to write home about tho. - TACOS DE PESCADO fried catfish, mexican crema, cabbage slaw, pickled onion $18: came with 3 tacos using soft tortillas, prepared well, good balance of savory, acid, creamy--tasty. - TACOS DE CAMARONES gulf shrimp, "scampi butter", cheesy tortillas, cabbage slaw, chipotle salsa, morita chile mayo $20: also came with 3 tacos using soft tortillas, shrimp cooked just right, a little too much sauce though I didn't mind (just don't drip it on yourself like I did) balance of flavor was good. - Pacifico beer x2 $5 each: refreshing. Our servers kinda disappeared after the food was served, we had to get up and flag someone to get the check. Perfect fajitas! I was really impressed with their chicken fijitas and loved the butter sauce that came on the side! The chicken was thick and flavorful and served with onion and a pepper on the skillet. It comes with all the fixings like cheese, lettuce, sour cream etc and I found myself adding the green table salsa on it as well which was slightly spicy so it added a nice flavor. The entrees come with unlimited rice and beans for the table which is a fun concept but we did not need refills since our mains were so large and we had leftovers. Service is friendly and accommodating. We did not have any drinks but the margs looks delicious so we will have to try those when we return. My family got tacos, which were apparently so good they started eating them before I could even get a photo! I ordered the ribeye, but they were out, so I got skirt steak instead and it was phenomenal. I actually think I preferred it to the ribeye! I had this place bookmarked for a while and we finally decided to give it a shot yesterday afternoon for lunch. While the place looks nice and seems to be a popular spot, hubby and I were underwhelmed. The service was friendly and efficient but the food was just okay. The biggest issue is that their price point simply doesn't match the experience. I don't mind paying a premium for premium food, but it sucks to pay a premium for mediocre food, and unfortunately, that is exactly what we did here at Superica. We started with the guacamole, which came with these interesting thick chips. The chips were crispy and tasted good but I am not sure how I felt about the texture, which I think was too thick for my liking. The guacamole was decent but a bit too smooth (I prefer chunkier guac personally) and did not have a ton of flavor. They also gave us a basket of regular tortilla chips with 2 jars of sauces. The sauces were average but hard to get to as the jars were too tall, so it was just awkward to dip. My husband ordered the carne asada, which is essentially a bone-in ribeye served with thick potatoes covered in some sauce and cheese. He ordered it medium and it was pink on the inside but the outside was a bit burned and gave the whole steak an overly charcoal flavor. The potatoes were okay. Neither of us thought this dish was worth the $44 price tag at all. I had a steak quesadilla, which came in a big portion but again, I did not think was worth the $24 price tag for a simple quesadilla. This is especially true when I didn't even enjoy it because the steak was overcooked and made the whole thing rather dry. It wasn't terrible, but again, not living up to the price point either. I had a Pacifico for my drink, which was a nice, cold draft. Hubby had a margarita on the rocks, which he says was just okay. It took us 20 minutes to find parking because the Avalon was pretty busy. This is, of course, no fault of Superica's, but just something to consider if you plan to come on a weekend when the whole area is crowded. The whole time we were there, I couldn't help but compare Superica to Rojo because that is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. In my opinion, Rojo easily won in every category. Based on that, I would much rather enjoy a better tasting meal for significantly less cost at Rojo than return to Superica again, so we will not be back. read more

Have been a weekly Superica diner for about 4 years now. It was our favorite place before their menu change.. The tableside hot sauce they used to have was so good we bought the cookbook just to try and recreate (couldn't ever get it right for some reason).. They decided to change their menu in 2025 and while the fajitas are still good, they're not what they used to be (and they changed the tableside hot sauces to no longer offer the one we loved).. Smaller tortillas, different marinade for the proteins, and the onions seem to come undercooked now.. The frozen margaritas also don't seem to have the freshness that they used to have. The last ones we had seemed to have been more dull than we remember. It's still better than anything else in the area, but where it was once a 10/10 for us it has come down a fair bit on the scale.. read more
