The shop was busy so it wasn't as though the chips had been hanging around and dried out, they were really poor and without a generous squeeze of sauce virtually inedible. I went a few times and have been dismayed at how long it takes to make something pretty simple like a couple cod and chips to take away. Years ago, the chip shop that sat here would pre-make a lot of cod and chips so that when trainloads of people descended on them on a friday night you could get in and get out pretty quickly. At Pavilion they appear to make each order fresh after you order, and it takes a really long time, especially on a busy night. I also find them to be a bit more expensive than other fish and chips in the area. So, given the wait and the cost, I tried them a few times but ended up going to the others more often.

The reason why there is a little wait is because your order is cooked when you order. This means the batter is crisp and the fish just right. The chips are fine and the portions very good. The menu is limited, but it does what it says on the tin. The service is fine, the price reasonable and you won't be disappointed,As to those who want to take away their food, it's worth a small wait rather than collect a pile of soggy fish and dead chips.
