I reluctantly showed her pictures of the great haircuts that my niece has given me in the past (yes, that's how much I love her haircuts, I keep pictures). Minnie looked at them, asked me a few questions and gave me a TOP quality haircut that I thought was not possible by anyone else. Everyone was nice, haircut was ok, but there was an overwhelming scent of perfume or air fresheners that permeated the entire salon. When I arrived home, about an hour later, my dress reeked of whatever this scent or fragrance was. It was in my hair and on my skin too. Just awful. My eyes are still watering. I won't return unless this is sorted out. It might have been in the spray bottle she was using to wet my hair? I took a shower, put my clothes in the washing machine and I finally got rid of the "fragrance". That and some Claritin. The stylist wanted to put some spray-in conditioner on my hair as she was cutting it but I stopped her before she put it on my hair. I have no idea what the origin of this overpowering odor/fragrance/scent was but it was definitely from Supercuts. I really wish that places like this would take sensitivity to odors and fragrances seriously. Like in my workplace - scent free. read more

I have to say I have been going to this Super Cuts in Waltham for a quite awhile for quick service like brows, bangs, and my husbands cut. The girls there are personable, and the location is Super Easy for our family. Each time I go, I need to explain how I would like my bangs cut - I leave the rest of my hair long and tied up for the most part. As my bangs frame my face, I think the cut is important. One thing I make very clear is that I do not want them bluntly cut straight across - not many ppl can get away with that look, right? Seems straight forward? (No pun intended). Well, mostly feeling obligated that I can only go to one stylist, i have posted a picture of my recent visit. awful experience. She promised to layer my hair, fix my bangs, this and that, and during the actual cut, she did none of those things. I have thick hair so I had hoped to have it layered. She simply chop, chop, and done. There is no style, my bangs are not level, and I had to ask her to let me take a look at my hair from behind. From behind, it is not at all straight. I think she was more interested in selling me hair products towards the end of the visit than actually cutting my hair. Throughout the cut, she left me alone at least 5 times to answer calls, deliver mail to the mailman, while coming back and continuing to cut my hair. I don't even think she remembered what she cut and what she didn't. Horrible experience. Please don't take advantage of your customers like that. Right now, I'm waiting for my hair to grow out so I can go to another barber shop to have it fixed. I would not recommend this store to anyone. read more

WORST HAIRCUT, EVER. I went in with in with hair that was on the longer side. I asked that only an 1 - 1.5 inches be taken off the front, sides, and back; however, I walked out with a marine style high & tight. Sam cut my long curly and wild hair. Well, my hair is nice if you ask it politely. I hadn't cut it for 2 years because of previously bad experiences: I usually end up paying for three haircuts by the time it's right, and it ends up way shorter than I want it. Or I go to a ritzy downtown salon and blow half my paycheck so a girl named Rocco with punky pink stripes in her hair can croon at a mini hedgehog while doing interpretative dance, once every 45 seconds nipping a small lock off my head, and 45 minutes later pronouncing me "fabulous" while dosing me with cheap white wine from Costco. Sam asked me what I wanted, how long each part needed to be, listened when I told her about my curly front parts and not so curly back parts (as if I were licked by 13 lucky cows at birth), and it took 20 minutes. She even forgave me for not knowing what she meant by "where do you want the end of your wedge?" I will definitely come again. (Not in 2 years this time). read more

I've been going to supercuts since the last 6 years and this is the worst supercuts I have ever been to. I called them at 5:15pm for an appointment and they said they are not free at 6, 6:15 and 6:30 but I can visit them at 7. I went there at exactly 7pm (waited already an hour at home) and I waited again for 45 mins there. They don't know the definition of appointment. I didn't have a haircut at all that evening and had worst experience ever. Just discovered Reflections hair salon near to my apt in waltham for same price and they did a great job with free shampoo. I made a last minute appointment for a trim since my normal hairdresser was booked solid and the experience was a lot better than I thought. I showed up for my appointment, waited a few minutes, and my hair dresser definitely knew what she was doing. She listened to what I wanted and followed up with questions and suggestions before starting. Since I drove with the windows down on the way there, my hair was completely tangled, so she offered me a de-tangler in fear of hurting my scalp. It was a great appointment and my hair dresser was very professional. I only wish she had swept the hair around my chair from the appointment before, but I was happy with the $17 cut. read more

The price to quality ratio can't be beat. I've got an easy, straight cut, so why would I ever pay more? That being said, the gals here are great. I went in around 8pm on a Friday night, and there were two hairdressers, one doing a color job for a customer. The gals were also nice (she checked the temperature of the water with me for my shampoo three times), quick, and kind. a haircut is something like $17. I have gone to this location for years. They always play music, and have a lot of good magazines, and the costs are incredibly affordable. You have to avoid the busy times, such as Thursday night or Saturday, as it is a small place, but you can go wait or get Food at the Starbucks, Friendly's, or Boston Market next door. Lisa is the best hair dresser there for women, she is excellent, and can do very sophisticated cuts. She is remarkably good to work at a Supercuts (and I think she did work at a high end salon previously). If you call ahead you can almost always get time with her. read more

I've been coming to this Supercuts for nearly four years now and I have always had good experiences. The employees are friendly and actually seem to like their jobs, and the service is fast and efficient. All I come here for are trims or the occasional blowout, and I've never been dissatisfied (granted, those services are fairly hard to screw up). But for all the Supercuts horror stories I've heard, I've never actually had it happen firsthand, so I can't see the need to pay a lot more money to get my hair trimmed and straightened at an expensive salon. Also, the stylists are very appreciative when you tip them 20%. read more

Meh - there are better options in Waltham. Two things I want to point out in this review: the service and the staff. I got my haircut from Joan. Service: I'm a guy that needed a regular haircut. I wanted a close fade on the sides, and showed pictures on my cell phone. I think Joan did an OK job given my hair type (I've certainly received much better). Staff: When you walk in, they immediately want your first and last name to be entered in their computer system (why I'm not sure). I could tell by the atmosphere that these ladies were on high edge (I could also tell by their body habitus, but I'd rather not go there). At one point, I expressed my opinion that the need for a barber license to cut hair is ridiculous. Another woman (whose name I did not catch), immediately jumped in and argued against me. I believe simply expressing an opinion (in a civilized manner) is not rude, but Joan and the other lady wanted it to like so. Then she said that I shouldn't argue with someone holding scissors to their head (I kid you not). I should've stepped out at this point, but let this be a lesson to me and all of you to not put up with this. The proper way for them to handle this would've been to acknowledge my opinion, disagree with it in a calm manner, and move forward. In conclusion, skip this place. Great place! Unexpectedly awesome! When I think super cuts, I don't normally think of a place I go to get a great cut and color. However, Jessica has certainly proved that stereotype wrong! Not only did she fix the disaster that another stylist caused (different hair stylist visit), but she gave me exactly what I wanted and truly cared about what I thought about the finished product. First off..this doesn't even deserve 1 star. It shouldn't get any. This place was awful. My first time here & I figured I'd make an appointment. When I booked the appointment 3hrs prior I specifically told Jessica I wanted a wash, HAIRCUT, & a style preferably curling. And she gave me a price of $37. I get there & the girl didn't even talk to me & during the wash when I tried to talk she gave very quick one word answers. She would see other costumers & have a full on conversation with them while doing my hair. I showed her a photo I wanted & she said okay. When I sat down thinking I was getting ready for a cut she starts blow drying. I've never been here so I thought okay maybe they cut after they blow dry & has it so close to my scalp it was burning it. There was still no talking at all to me except to other costumers. And before I could even say anything she starts curling my hair. THERE WAS NO HAIRCUT. The curls were awful. Normally you face curls outward from the face. She faced them both inward & it was horrible. I get up to pay for this awful mess & they tell me $50!!!!!!!!! I could wash & curl my hair for free & I would've done a better job. SHAME ON YOU SUPERCUTS! Took my 7 year old for a wash, bang and length trim at Supercuts. I usually frequent the Supercuts on Bedford Street in Lexington but went to the Lexington Street in Waltham location today. Mid-cut, I walked over to the stylist and asked if she would blow dry my daughters hair too. I know it's $12 but since it's only 29 degrees out, I'm willing to splurge. The stylist told me it would be $30 to dry my daughters hair in addition to the haircut and wash she already had. I must have said "$30?" Back to her at least six times. The price list for the Supercuts Jr. is $15.95 haircut for kids under 10 and an additional shampoo is $5 and it's $12 additional for a blow dry. (See photo below). NOWHERE ON THE SIGN DOES IT SAY IT'S $30 to add a blow dry onto a child's haircut. It clearly states $12. When I brought this up to the stylist she was adamant that it would be $30 and it doesn't matter what the sign says. I was told that she could do a "rough dry" for free but to add a blow dry onto my kids haircut would be $30. I declined the blow dry as I don't have $30 to burn. This $30 dry charge was also confirmed by a second stylist in the salon. I was also told that there is an ongoing battle with the stylists and management over the sign saying $12 and the price really being $30 and management won't update the sign. THIS IS COMPLETELY MISLEADING based on the displayed child pricing and I plan on contacting the BBB. In the end the stylist did a fine job but the deceptive pricing won't make me return to ANY SUPERCUTS. BUYER BEWARE read more
