I got a cut and double process color with some treatments that were part of a special. He wasn't very talkative but maybe because of the language barrier, he was concentrating, or maybe to avoid misunderstanding because of language. I'm fine with either but if you like stylists that are talkative I figured it would be good to know. Language barrier didn't seem to be a problem. Toshi spoke good English. Soho caught my eye in Windward Mall since I pass by it frequently. Thought I'd give it a try since it's convenient. Since this location is brand new (has been open for 2 weeks), it is quick to book an appointment. They have a grand opening special for 10% all services until the end of Nov 2025. I called to book since I had questions about coloring, but you can also conveniently schedule online. I had originally booked a color retouch (I had my hair bleached and toned at another salon 3 mos. ago) and mentioned that I would likely need toning. I arrived slightly early and checked in at the front desk. They seemed a bit surprised and said I'd require more time than a retouch - of course I said I was fine with that if they had the time to accommodate for color services that were recommended - I have a difficult time requesting what I need since I am not a hair stylist and am untrained in proper vocabulary and treatments. Luckily it was not a problem, and they were clear about showing me what it would cost up front so that there would be no pricing shock at the end which I appreciated. The stylist recommended an Olaplex conditioning treatment since I was bleaching my hair, which I agreed upon. They also offer cuts, styles, perms (curls or straight), head spa treatments, ozone (I was informed it's for deep cleansing of the scalp), conditioning treatments, etc. I also noticed that they offer more natural options for dying hair, as well as shampoos, conditioners, and other hair treatments. If you book here, have the expectation that they cater to Japanese-speaking people (which I am not quite the demographic), so phones are answered in Japanese, and checkout is in Japanese (although not confusing at all). There might be some language barriers if you are English-speaking only. They did a wonderful job with coloring and styling, and I feel youthful and vibrant again.

Maybe it's just me but I was left pretty unhappy with the end result. I chose to make an appointment with Gina because everyone was raving about her on yelp and her prices are very reasonable. I went in for highlights and a cut. After she was done doing the color and the cut she curled my hair before I could see the end result. Therefore, I left the salon feeling relatively happy with the end result. However, as I eventually washed my hair and put it up on a ponytail I realized exactly what she'd done to my hair. The highlights (or balayage as she had recommended instead) seem very chunky and you can very clearly tell they look unnatural and do not go all the way to the root of my hair. I've had balayage a few times before an I'm quite sure that's not what it's supposed to look like.
