I cannot remember when I last cut my hair. I think it was during mid-January 2020, just before Chinese New Year. It's been a custom in our household to cut your hair just before the lunar New Year. I usually cut my hair 1x every 2 months but COVID-19 sure changed those plans. You see, I have fine hair and when it grows long the natural curls appear and it becomes a chore to get ready before leaving the house. I like short hair because it's low maintenance and cost efficient - - I don't need to use much shampoo. :P March 23, 2020 - State of Hawaii has declared Stay-At-Home and only essential workers are to continue reporting to work. Many businesses were forced to temporarily close, which includes hair salons and barber shops. My hair started to grow quite long where it bothered me. I particularly don't care when my hair touches my ear so I trimmed the ear area 2x. I then noticed my hair starting to curl where people in my immediate circle started commenting. The hair in my back neck area started to curl. I wasn't a happy camper. May 29, 2020 Friday - State of Hawaii has given approval for hair and nail salons, barber shops and other personal service providers to reopen on Oahu. I was thrilled and decided to hold off a bit as many swarmed to get their hair cut. By the time I called my regular stylist, I was advised to wait over a week as the first week was booked solid. With social distancing came with the extra steps for salons to prep and clean up. More time is needed for an appointment, therefore, the number of available appointments will naturally decrease. The last week was a scorcher. I recall waking up in the middle of the night because it was warm and uncomfortable. Some of my hair was wet - - YUCK! Saturday rolled along and it was HUMID HUMID HUMID. It was so unbearable. Just before my shift at my part-time job was about to end, I decided to take a chance and pop my head into Linda's Barber Shop (LBS). I've been checking out this place as there were so many people waiting outside patiently for a haircut last week. To my delight, I didn't see anyone waiting outside and when I walked in, there were just several people getting a haircut. I was asked to write my name on the list and read their disclosure. I chuckled at the end because by me signing their indemnity agreement, I cannot demand monetary claims should I catch the COVID-19 virus during my haircut. Cannot remember the exact wording but do recall "I cannot sue them....." Onto the haircut, the stylist did use quite a bit of time prepping for my haircut. She cut up a plastic garbage bag and it was draped over me. I noticed a poster board on top where numbers were associated with certain hair styles. By informing my stylist the number, she'd have an idea of what kind of haircut I'm expecting. Before starting, the stylist asked how I part my hair. She turned on the shears and started to cut the excess curls. In between she'd use the scissors to trim a little bit here and there. My regular hair stylist takes about an hour to cut my hair by this cut at LBS took about 15 minutes. Immediately, I felt instant comfort from my haircut. But when I looked at the sides and workmanship, it was evident the job was barely satisfactory. The sides were clearly uneven and witnessed some areas where some hairs were sticking out. When it was time to pay, my haircut was a flat rate of $15, about 1/3 the cost of my regular haircut. It is unfortunate my regular stylist couldn't take me in sooner but with the given conditions, LBS got the job done. To be frank, I'm not sure if I'll ever come back to LBS to get a haircut again. My hair was cut pretty short so it'll take some time for it to grow back. 2020 #40

We've been coming here for years. Always went to Linda or the other ladies. Took my son last month to get a haircut by the husband, it was probably the worst haircut he's ever received. I'm not one to say anything so I didn't ... he had so many steps in his hair , nothing was cleaned up in the back.. today my dad took him to go get a haircut and sure enough he got the same guy and same exact bad haircut. This time I said something. The steps in his hair we're so visible and his lineup on his front was crooked (look at the picture). I called and and he said come back someone will fix it. I went back and asked if one of the ladies could fix it... he then got upset speaking in his language. The lady was reassuring me he could fix it, I told her no this is the 2nd time he's messed up.. I rather you fix it. So she did , but during the whole time my son was getting his hair fixed he obviously was talking about me. Going on and on like I was the one who was in the wrong . It made me and my son so Uncomfortable. Thank you to the sweet lady for listening to me and fixing his horrible haircut!

I give 0 stars because this hair cut came with horrible clips in the back of his head and his sides aren't even faded correctly!

As COVID-19 pandemic restrictions ease up... it's great to see small businesses starting to welcome more and more of their customers back. Although the staff was camera shy and declined to take a staff picture... my reviews tor barbershops and salons does include being photogenic. Location: 5 (formerly Hakuyosha Cleaners) Parking: 5 (ample parking) Facility: 5 (Clean, secure, and in good repair) Price: 5 (Excellent very reasonable men's haircut $16.00) Customer Service: 5 (Excellent , friendly, efficient,) Payment Method: 3 Cash Only.

If you take pride in your beard and mustache, do not go here. Plain and simple. Mustache is completely lopsided, Beard is not even. Lesson learned. I'm doing my own beard from now on

This irked me as the auto-generated messages are sketchy looking to begin with since their business name isn't even on them (aka, Hi [name], . has canceled your appointment etcetc). Regardless, I called the next morning to figure out whether this was a glitch or not. I was offhandedly told the person I booked with was sick. Ok, I understand. ** To be VERY CLEAR this 1 star is NOT about the sick employee at all. ** After I was informed by whoever picked up the phone (they didn't identify themselves or give their name) that who I had booked with was out sick, they just STOPPED TALKING. No, 'We're sorry about how that affected your schedule/time', &/or ' Person A/B/C is open today, would you like to book with them instead?', &/or 'So sorry about that, we're also completely booked today, but we have/should have openings next Monday/week/etc.'. NOTHING. Just hanging silence with a vibe of 'hurry up and get off the phone, I'm busy'. So to whoever that young man was, feel free to thank them for not only losing my business but also making sure ALL of my Ohana and friends know that Faded Hawaii not only doesn't care about your time & money, they also don't care about putting any effort into customer service or being professional.
