My family was very happy with Christy Lyn Lubay. She was patient with my kids and their desires for specific stylish haircuts. She always went above and beyond in pleasing them. It's not easy to find a stylist this accommodating. We've only known her for a few months but we were loyal. That changed today when she treated us with the utmost disrespect. What I liked about Supercuts is that you can simply schedule an appointment online. I had one today with Christy at 12:45 pm. I arrived at 12:45 pm only to find she had just (minutes prior) accepted a walk-in customer. A few weeks ago, I scheduled Christy. On the day of the appointment, I received a text notification from Supercuts reminding me of my appointment. I arrived on time only to learn that Christy had not come into work that day. I asked why I received a reminder just a few hours ago. The lady said it's automated. So the automated courtesy reminder reminds you to give them your money but doesn't give you a courtesy reminder when your chosen stylist is not available. The online scheduling service means nothing to them. The first lady I spoke with (short black haired) said they are backed up. Her and another man appeared to be on break while the person I had an appointment with accepted a customer right before my scheduled time slot. We were the only customers in the store at that time. No apology plus a lame excuse. I am done wasting my time and money going to this business. I will never go there again. read more

Just went to get my hair cut at the super cuts in Maui mall, there was one customer in the store and nobody waiting. I asked if I could get my hair cut and the lady working on Monday April 24 @ 1:20 pm told me they don't take walk-ins but I could schedule an appointment online. Child's haircut is $20.00 plus they add a hidden fee of $5.00 for sanitation. After cut, fee and tip $30.00. Plus my daughters haircut is uneven. I've read reviews from other families going and getting 5 haircuts and each getting charged this fee with no sanitation between cuts. Luckily there are many, many other salons that do not charge this ridiculous fee !! I encourage people to shop around. I found over 20 establishments who do not charge this bogus fee. Restaurants as well as other establishment don't charge an additional "sanitation " fee, therefore I believe Supercuts is taking advantage of their customer's during these trying times. Haircuts aren't essential. Supercuts should be ashamed of themselves!! Not to mention this salon didn't notify me of this charge and it wasn't posted. read more

Turnover in staff has led to marginally skilled stylists/ barbers. Rosalyn cut my hair yesterday (simple guy's haircut, tapered down the sides and back, short but not super short). Had to stop her when she was buzzing the sides and back. Explained again what I wanted, she started again. Stopped her when it looked acceptable enough to get me by until it grows out enough to find someplace else. I have come here consistently for several years but it's gone downhill since Steven left for the mainland. read more

We love this Supercuts. I'm very particular about how my daughters bangs are cut, I hate when stylist cut it too short or don't listen to how I ask for her bangs to be styled but DENISE gets it perfect every time. I honestly wouldn't trust my daughters hair to anyone else. So thankful that she is always able to get us in, each time we've gone we have always walked in and she ALWAYS figures out a way to get my daughters hair done in a timely manner. read more

This place sucks. My usual spot was booked and I was in a bind.. besides, how hard could it be I just needed a quick trim. This is seriously the worst haircut I have ever had in my life. My appointment was at 3:00. Sat till 3:30 and not a word was said...they just stare at you. Zero customer service, understaffed and over booked. They did not listen to my needs, cut my hair WAY to short even though I told them what I wanted. I can't even explain their thought process behind cutting my side burns....they took them off completely.I look like an idiot. Seriously....They gave me a Lloyd from dumb and dumber bowl cut just about. Don't waist your time with this place. I wish my hair would grow out faster I look like a moron. I love my hair! Malyssa did my roots touch up and finally, my hair is black again. I've always been fearful of going to SuperCuts anywhere I've lived. But my friend has been a regular of Malyssa's for two years and her hair always looks great. I made an appt. Actually arrived on time. There was a short wait, then Malyssa started on my hair. She's very professional and experienced. I've honestly paid high end prices for years for my hair. I'd never imagine I'd be happy with a place you can just walk-in. Truthfully, I'll be a regular customer of Malyssa's as long as she's doing hair. There were two other stylists working, though not too busy. Sure sorry to see this place get such a poor rating. I am generally a big fan of Supercuts for my son's haircuts. I think they have great stylists who deliver great haircuts, at a great price. There is an attitude problem at the Maui Mall salon though. My 14 year old son is still upset about the haircut and treatment he got today (We usually go to Supercuts Upcountry, where they are friendly and great listeners). From the start, I can only describe his treatment by Amber as rude and dismissive, even though he was the only customer in the store at the time. I am not sure why things started off that way, but that was the general feeling. My son asked for a short trim off the top of his hair and a little buzz on the sides-like he usually gets. She told him that it would look "stupid" if she cut it that way. Since he just wanted a shorter version of what he already had, she basically told him his hair looked stupid. I was pretty surprised when I heard her say that. Stupid or not, he was clear on what he wanted. She requested a photo example, which he produced and again she said that it would look stupid if she cut his hair like that. It is not a complicated haircut-just the typical soccer player look. He had used to same photo for his last two successful trims. It seemed pretty clear that she did not want to be cutting his hair. We should have just left the salon right then, and we are both kicking ourselves that we didn't. Instead, he again explained that he wanted just a tiny trim off the top, as he wanted to keep the length, with the sides buzzed. He was very clear. After I left the salon, she proceeded to cut 2 inches off the top that he had been growing out. I know it doesn't sound that dramatic, but to a teenager growing his hair out for a certain look-it was. When he told her she was cutting it way too short, she said "no, its not that short" he said "yes it is" to which she replied, "well maybe you shouldn't have come here" he then told her she was being really rude, and was not listening, to which she replied "then you should leave." Unfortunately, I was at the market during his haircut or I would have told her to stop. I thought he was empowered enough to speak up for himself if he didn't like how things were going- he said he tried many times but she just wouldn't listen. By the time I retuned 20 mins later, his hair was cut EXACTLY how he said he did not want it, and he was in tears. My son is very particular about his hair. What we have learned from prior bad haircuts (not at this salon), is that if you describe what you want/don't want, have a photo of the look you have in mind, and are watching what the stylist is doing, then you should be able to leave with the haircut you wanted. Not so here. His haircut is NOT A BAD HAIRCUT, it is just the opposite of what he asked for. My son was so upset that he in turn was rude to Amber. I do apologize for that. It was the first time I have ever seen him be disrespectful to an adult. Not sure if Amber was just having a bad day, or if she doesn't like teenagers, but the way we were treated really didn't feel very good. I had malysa do my hair serval times. I went from a weird brown to a beautiful blonde in no time ! Little do no damage to my hair, a wonderful time at the salon which is very clean and modern. I had many (150?) tiny highlights done and the result was amazing ! Even when I came back months later with a total hair-accident (I put auburn on it which turned red) malysa fixed it and i was back to blonde. I love the cut she did on me and appreciated all her advice as far as care and overall knowledge goes. She is a very experienced and professional hairdresser, that actually takes her time on the client VS rush rush in and out. She is extremely experienced with colors and knows how to cancel out certain pigments. Finally a hairdresser that understands her craft and that color is chemistry not a game ! She asked me serval times if I was comfortable and if the water temperature was good for me, else wise she would adjust to my favor. The hair wash was a total relaxer, I was tempted to fall asleep in that chair. I'm overall very pleased with the service provided by malysa and the staff at this location. I will definitely keep coming back here for an amazing service and great results on my hair. I also bought some leave in conditioner at the salon and appreciated not being pushed by anyone to buy some random product. I felt I was in good hands and malysa helped me choose a product that meets the needs of my hair day to day. read more

Worst service ever. Malissa had a bad attitude as soon as I walked in. She turned my brother down because she thought his dandruff on his head was nits. Sales clerk was very impolite especially when my husband pointed out that there was no one in there. Trouble is absolutey no one was there and no one was busting down the door to get in there either.
