After about 6 months after my first haircut with her, and the tips she's provided, my hair is low key thriving! Let's start off with location... She's located downtown Hayward off B Street. Although, parking kinda sucks, and it is the Main Street with so many cars, her place is so cute! Inside her place, there plenty of seating, and a lot of chairs available. For the most part, whenever I go see her, I'm probably the only other client inside - just incase you guys get nervous for Covid reasons. Nancy is so welcoming. She starts off asking you what you want to do with your hair, and she observes and starts framing your face to see if you would like it and gives out suggestions as needed. Then she washes your hair, and then she begins the cut. She's so knowledgable in the industry. She given me helpful advice on how to maintain my hair. For reference, I've always had to wash my hair daily because it's always getting so oily. So she's given me tips on how to prevent it. And after 6 months of following tips, and seeing what works for me, my hair is fuller, healthier, and thriving as I've mentioned. She also sells products in house just in case you want to obtain professional items. I highly recommend her. You won't regret it.

This was my first time at Lunar Salon and my stylist was Zoe. I am in LOVE with my haircut…read more Let me start off by saying that I have a lot of hair and can intimidate some stylists. I also have prior experience of being a hairdresser, so I can be very particular with how I want my hair cut, but Zoe executed my vision perfectly. I started off with a consultation with Zoe where I showed her some pictures and met with an assistant who washed my hair. She shampoo'ed my hair twice (which I love). The first is to remove any product and oil build up, and the second is to make sure my hair and scalp are actually clean. When she conditioned my hair, she was careful to not apply it to my scalp and brushed it through mid-lengths and ends, which is exactly what I do at home to avoid an oily scalp and maintain volume, so 5-stars for that! I also wanted to add that the assistant took extra care in making sure the back of my neck and clothes were protected from getting wet. Previous experiences at other salons have left me drenched. When I got back to the chair, Zoe carefully and gently brushed out my hair, sectioned it, and got straight to it. I asked for a round layered haircut. She cut my hair wet, putting in the foundation of the haircut and gave me a beautiful blow-dry. Then came the fine-tuning and detail work which took my hair from heavy and dense to light and bouncy. Her next client came in about an hour or so into the haircut, but not once did I feel like she was rushing with me (which normally happens with the amount of hair that I have that usually takes stylists past their allotted appointment time). I showed her a photo of the hairstyle I wanted. The side-swept bangs were supposed to be longer, with only a small amount of shorter pieces to create a natural, blended look. Unfortunately, Zoe miscalculated the length, and a large portion of my bangs was cut too short. I didn't want bangs that simply covered my forehead, I wanted them to look soft and natural. The final result looked nothing like what I had requested. After I pointed this out, Zoe asked me to show her the reference photo again. Once I did, she insisted that my bangs looked the same as the ones in the picture. No, they absolutely did not. She even said, "You didn't know it would look like this?" Of course I didn't, because this was not the style I wanted, nor did it resemble the bangs in the photo I had shown her. Throughout the conversation, I remained polite and tried to communicate my concerns calmly, but she defended every aspect of her work. Then, she kept cutting my hair, I feel like I should've stopped her at that moment but I didn't know if she was finishing up or trying to fix it, but my hair looks frizzy now after too much trimming. The rest of the haircut was not what I expected as well including the back and the sides. I feel like she lacks the skills to work with face shapes and the ability to understand what customer wants. Another thing is that if you don't use Zelle or Venmo, you will have to pay at least $100 to pay with your Visa card. The haircut was $80, and I had to pay $20 more for tip and/or a fee which is 25% more, for a bad haircut, can you imagine that?

The haircut was completed in about 10-12 minutes, which honestly surprised me because I've never had someone cut my hair that quickly. I left terrified. Unfortunately, the result wasn't what I asked for. He added more layers than I wanted, even though I specifically requested a straighter style. He also cut my hair about two inches shorter than I had requested, and the layers don't blend as smoothly as I would like. The haircut doesn't look terrible, but it wasn't the look I was hoping for, and the appointment felt rushed. While Jim was kind and professional, I left feeling disappointed and not very happy with the final result. Because of that, I probably wouldn't return.

KOREAN LASH LIFT WITH AMANDA REVIEW…read more i've been seeing amanda for my lash lifts for several months now, after years of wanting to get them lifted but being too scared bc my eyes are so sensitive, especially after laser eye surgery. my lashes are long but so straight and without curling them i look so sleepy. i also don't wear makeup so this is the main "makeup-y" thing i do. but curling them everyday with a lash curler, having to use mascara that make my eyes itch and them not lasting in hot humid weather was a pain and time suck hassle. amanda is so gentle and careful with her technique, i experienced absolutely no irritation (surprisingly!) with any of the several sessions and after a few sessions have found my ideal curl shape. i just got them done again yesterday, woke up to seeing them curled perfectly in the mirror and i am so happy! i drive all the way from oakland just to have her do them for me every 6 weeks. i'm so happy to support a genuinely caring and skilled person, the drive and time spent is well worth it. plus she has so many cute decorations and treats for her clients to enjoy, i love the novelty and professionalism of it all. thanks amanda !

My hair is long, but it isn't completely straight like most common Asian hair. My hair had gotten to the point where I really needed a trim to get rid of a lot of the split-ends, but I didn't have time to drive all the way into SF (where I use to live before moving to Hayward) just to visit my usual hairdresser/stylist. I contacted Lien via text and she was super responsive. I was also able to schedule an appointment with her the next day during the afternoon. Not only that, Lien is super nice and friendly! Due to the short pieces at the top of my head that stick straight up, I've had my hair in a ponytail all day as leaving the house with my hair down would look ridiculous. Unfortunately, I've come to find that even in a ponytail, there are patches of 1 - 2 inch strands that stick straight out of the sides of my head. Since I can't wear my hair up now, I will be wearing hats for the next six months while this grows out. This is beyond upsetting and so embarrassing that even a ponytail can't hide this hack job.
