This was my first time at Lunar Salon and my stylist was Zoe. I am in LOVE with my haircut…read more Let me start off by saying that I have a lot of hair and can intimidate some stylists. I also have prior experience of being a hairdresser, so I can be very particular with how I want my hair cut, but Zoe executed my vision perfectly. I started off with a consultation with Zoe where I showed her some pictures and met with an assistant who washed my hair. She shampoo'ed my hair twice (which I love). The first is to remove any product and oil build up, and the second is to make sure my hair and scalp are actually clean. When she conditioned my hair, she was careful to not apply it to my scalp and brushed it through mid-lengths and ends, which is exactly what I do at home to avoid an oily scalp and maintain volume, so 5-stars for that! I also wanted to add that the assistant took extra care in making sure the back of my neck and clothes were protected from getting wet. Previous experiences at other salons have left me drenched. When I got back to the chair, Zoe carefully and gently brushed out my hair, sectioned it, and got straight to it. I asked for a round layered haircut. She cut my hair wet, putting in the foundation of the haircut and gave me a beautiful blow-dry. Then came the fine-tuning and detail work which took my hair from heavy and dense to light and bouncy. Her next client came in about an hour or so into the haircut, but not once did I feel like she was rushing with me (which normally happens with the amount of hair that I have that usually takes stylists past their allotted appointment time). I enjoyed looking around the salon at all the other wonderful stylists focused on their work as well. Another 5-stars for the attention to detail! I can't wait to come back! :)

I showed her a photo of the hairstyle I wanted. The side-swept bangs were supposed to be longer, with only a small amount of shorter pieces to create a natural, blended look. Unfortunately, Zoe miscalculated the length, and a large portion of my bangs was cut too short. I didn't want bangs that simply covered my forehead, I wanted them to look soft and natural. The final result looked nothing like what I had requested. After I pointed this out, Zoe asked me to show her the reference photo again. Once I did, she insisted that my bangs looked the same as the ones in the picture. No, they absolutely did not. She even said, "You didn't know it would look like this?" Of course I didn't, because this was not the style I wanted, nor did it resemble the bangs in the photo I had shown her. Throughout the conversation, I remained polite and tried to communicate my concerns calmly, but she defended every aspect of her work. Then, she kept cutting my hair, I feel like I should've stopped her at that moment but I didn't know if she was finishing up or trying to fix it, but my hair looks frizzy now after too much trimming. The rest of the haircut was not what I expected as well including the back and the sides. I feel like she lacks the skills to work with face shapes and the ability to understand what customer wants. Another thing is that if you don't use Zelle or Venmo, you will have to pay at least $100 to pay with your Visa card. The haircut was $80, and I had to pay $20 more for tip and/or a fee which is 25% more, for a bad haircut, can you imagine that?

I showed several inspiration photos and explained that I was hoping for a straighter, more blended look. The haircut was completed in about 10-12 minutes, which honestly surprised me because I've never had someone cut my hair that quickly. I left terrified. Unfortunately, the result wasn't what I asked for. He added more layers than I wanted, even though I specifically requested a straighter style. He also cut my hair about two inches shorter than I had requested, and the layers don't blend as smoothly as I would like. The haircut doesn't look terrible, but it wasn't the look I was hoping for, and the appointment felt rushed. While Jim was kind and professional, I left feeling disappointed and not very happy with the final result. Because of that, I probably wouldn't return.

KOREAN LASH LIFT WITH AMANDA REVIEW…read more i've been seeing amanda for my lash lifts for several months now, after years of wanting to get them lifted but being too scared bc my eyes are so sensitive, especially after laser eye surgery. my lashes are long but so straight and without curling them i look so sleepy. i also don't wear makeup so this is the main "makeup-y" thing i do. but curling them everyday with a lash curler, having to use mascara that make my eyes itch and them not lasting in hot humid weather was a pain and time suck hassle. amanda is so gentle and careful with her technique, i experienced absolutely no irritation (surprisingly!) with any of the several sessions and after a few sessions have found my ideal curl shape. i just got them done again yesterday, woke up to seeing them curled perfectly in the mirror and i am so happy! i drive all the way from oakland just to have her do them for me every 6 weeks. i'm so happy to support a genuinely caring and skilled person, the drive and time spent is well worth it. plus she has so many cute decorations and treats for her clients to enjoy, i love the novelty and professionalism of it all. thanks amanda !

The absolute worst "haircut" I have ever had. I have been there a few times for blow out and Elaina did it, she did a good job straightening out my hair with a blowdryer and I tipped her accordingly however the last time I went I had Rebecca (I think) and she didn't even know how to comb hair. She glided the comb over the surface hair so the underneath didn't get cut. I had to show her! I am asking for my money back on this one. I will never go there again. You get what you pay for. Updated review:…read more Since my last review, Miss Tracy had made positive changes to her business to provide better value and satisfaction to her customers. (Which we love and appreciate! ...Thank you, Tracy) I am once again posting this on behalf of my Mom. After the controvery we've had from our last review for Tracy, Miss Tracy had updated her business and quality of service--she has let go her assistants (whom missed to see how she wants her business to be), and made the service by appointment only to assure a high quality work done to her clients. (Which must have been difficult for Tracy, but we so appreciate this, because this immensely up the quality of her salon and service) Actually, if you read my last review, it didn't reflect the work Miss Tracy does. My apologies if that was unfair. I wanted other to take a chance to see the work for themselves, because quality of work usually speak for themselves. And for Tracy's work, I wasn't worried. Because in fact, when Tracy works on my Mom's hair, my Mom is happy and per her words she said: "MY HAIR DOES'NT ITCH WHEN TRACY DOES MY HAIR compared to getting my hair done else where". Tracy is very talented from how my Mom compliments her work and how I see her hair after she gets it done from this salon. It was probably the past assistants whom she was protecting then that didn't seem to value the customers the way she had wanted them to. Today, I can say that she has really improved her way of business, because despite our negative review in the past, she has accomodated my Mom along side of my aunt and Mother in law. I am happy this is a mended relationship between my Mom (her customer for a long time) and business owner, Tracy. +Tracy's a true business owner, and a thriving local salon spot here in Hayward. Her value for a good customer service and exceptional work on hairs are something uneasily replicable by just any salon. We recommend Tracy and wish her good fortune. She is a good person who takes care of her community. Thank you, Tracy for making this pivot. My apologies about my last review. I only strive to make an honest review always. But you showed resilience, and passion. You are an example of a true 5 star business. HIGHLIGHTS: + TRUE EXPERT in her expertise; attentive to details. Works on client's face shape (understands that "one size doesn't fit all") + COMPASSIONATE; Apologetic + Speaks the truth. + HARD WORKER; Passionate in her line of work.

The man who cut my son's hair initially approached me because he thought that I came in for a haircut. I kind of need one, and so that was a fair assumption. Haircut: $23. Kids (10 and under) and Seniors: $21. Shampoo: $12. On Mondays, haircuts for kids and seniors are $16.99. There are 9 chairs in the waiting area. They are comfortable enough. The carpet needed to be vacuumed, but I'm understanding because it had to do with rainy weather (some small leaf pieces had been brought in by customers). An employee in the back coughed a few times. My wife definitely noticed too. It was unnerving because the person sort of sounded like they had bronchitis. A regular was around when we arrived. He enjoyed chatting with the woman who was cutting his hair. It seemed like he is always happy to go here (another man who is probably a regular too quickly began chatting with the woman). There are 4 workstations. They don't offer much in the way of privacy (some pictures have been posted by others), but the layout is similar to what you would find at most salons. A wide range of haircare products are sold here. Appointments aren't needed (they're just encouraged by the chain in general, as well as using the Clip Notes feature). The hairstylist listened to my wife well and did a great job with my son (he looked more handsome than normal afterward). The haircut only took about 15 minutes, and the man deserved the $5 tip that he was given. The parking lot is generally chaotic. We were careful while walking here. I recommend this location overall.
