I am going elsewhere because of the increased wait time. One time, they opened almost an hour late on a weekend morning. I was told an employee had transportation problems. Wasn't there another employee available to open the shop? I like some of the stylists there, but I do have some concerns about how it is managed. Reading the review below about the customer who was not allowed to purchase an item 10 minutes before the shop closed is unacceptable when you consider the fact that customers were expected to wait an hour for the shop to open when staff were late to work. read more

A business that's both professional and welcoming; the "Supercuts" off of San Pablo near the local Safeway was the first salon in a long while that styled my hair just right. I've gone through a few moves the past year and have tried out at least four or five different salons in the process. I came in hoping to get, at the very least, a decent trimming. After having my hair cut by "Shea" I left with one of the best cuts I've had in a long while! For once my bangs were perfectly even! Not to mention the awesome job Shea did for the rest of my unruly locks. Even though I live pretty darn far from El Cerrito now, I could see myself heading up there again just to make sure my hair is treated right. Thanks again, Shea. How bad can they mess up a child's hair? Apparently very BAD!! Yes he was crying but the first bad sign was when he used the scissor and cut straight across his bangs, if I wanted a bowl haircut, I would've done it myself or go to chinatown. He didn't even try to trim it with the clipper. Got home and see both sides are uneven and his bangs is so F-up. Forgot the guy's name who cut his hair, but he is bald. Would not recommend this guy at all!!!!! stay away. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I prefer to warn other about this supercuts. I had asked for a simple trim to the shoulder even indicate 1 inch, I even sound no layers that I flatiron my hair. I expected too much, for a simple haircut that they can't provide. This young woman does not understand hair. I was so upset that she had not only cut so much, she gave me a hair cut resembling her own style of hair on top. Don't both communicate to supercuts which the district manager calls you and leaves a message and you try to call back, that manager doesn't return the call anymore. I am so disappointed that they do not value customers Experience, which was indicated by the main supercuts customer service. So I warn thoughts individuals heading this that if you don't have eyes in back of your head to watch them do not go to any supercuts unless they do hire actual professional stylist or bring a friend to watch them. Even though I was angry about this at least I still had gave her a 20% to knowing that management is responsible. read more

I rarely review and I agree with all the other reviews. I came here for a simple cut. The person cutting seemed like an amateur that didn't know how to use the clipper or even scissors. After some time of him attempting to cut my hair and him finishing the job. It looked like I had cut my own hair at home and failed. so, I pretty much walked him through on how to use the tools and told him where to cut and how to do it to the point the I was holding the comb and telling him cut there with the clippers. read more

I came here out of habit--I was a customer of the old Hairmasters for years and years. So yesterday I needed a haircut. Got here about 10 am, to an almost empty "salon" . The girl at the desk got a hairstylist from outside, however about two minutes later someone walked in and asked for that hairstylist, who promptly decided to cut her hair. So the girl at the desk decided to cut my hair. (Theoretically, she's a hairstylist too, but practically, she's the girl at the desk.) I showed her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted and repeatedly told her that I have curly hair. Which is tricky to cut. She looked at the picture, closed the book, and hacked at my hair for 20 minutes. I asked her to fix the sides, and she hacked at it some more. I just wanted to get out of there, so I said it was fine and paid. I now have a very unflattering haircut that looks like it was done with gardening shears. No layers, no cutting with the curl, nothing. And no, it doesn't look anything like the picture. It looks like someone didn't know what she was doing. I'm really devastated, and debating if I even have enough hair to spend money I don't have to fix this mess on top of my head. Do NOT go here if you have curly hair. You won't be happy. read more

Just got the worst hair-CHOP ever. Black women kept talking to everyone while cutting my dry hair. No wet down or comb. Just cut and ended with an electric shave to my neck that pulled out lots of hair and left a deep red mark. No blood but scrap pain.She did not touch the right side of my head and ARGUED with me. She said she was done with me and whip off the cover and walked away. This is not the place to go to get any haircut. I realize this is a chain-company. Do not go here--your life maybe in danger. I am definitely not a primadona--I'm not very picky about haircuts at all--but last week I got a very bad haircut at this Supercuts (El Cerrito Del Norte). The haircutter was very friendly and chatted away while trimming and lightly layering my hair. It looked okay when it was wet, but when it dried, I could see a large chunk hacked out of one side. She had obviously made a mistake with the layering. I had to have it fixed at the Supercuts I usually go to on Solano Avenue where they are experienced and always do a good job. read more

Worst haircut I have ever had! First, I had to wait for about 40 minutes even though there were only 3 people ahead of me. The "stylists" there kept disappearing in the back while their customers waited and waited..... Then the haircut..... about 5 minutes spent on mine in total and the guy (I think his name was Ortega, don't get him for sure), said OK, your done. I came home and actually cut my hair myself afterwords it was so bad. TERRIBLE!!!! read more

I've been patronizing this Super Cuts since they opened and I get my haircut once every 4-6 weeks on average. I've had my hair cut by at least 4 or 5 different stylists and I don't recall any of them ever really doing a bad job. I've had a few experiences where the salon opened 10 minutes late, or the wait was longer than I expected, so I'll take a star off for that. I got my hair cut today, by Stefina, and it was a great experience. She had me in and out in 20 minutes, the cut was one of the best I've received at Super Cuts, and she only chatted enough to be friendly with me. I'm the kind of person who considers a hair cut and inconvenience so I just want to get in and out -- very quickly -- with as little interruption to my day as possible. I recently visited Supercuts in my recent neighborhood. This location is located near El Cerrito Del Norte BART and just behind the super awesome Safeway. I thought I give it a try as it was a thursday night and I wanted to have a hair cut before the weekend. The location is open until 8pm on weekdays and 9pm on the weekends. The location is in new condition as it is only a year old. I was greeted by Vonda and she was very friendly and personable. She took her time and I felt like it was an enjoyable experience. She works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. read more

I had my hair colored and cut by Stefina and it was great. I have a lot of hair and am always worried that stylists will not want to work on it when they have some one simpler to do. The color matches perfectly and she was really thorough. Would highly recommend her. By the way, a little kid with beautifully long hair, came in with a picture of a short hair cut she wanted. My daughter typically cuts her own hair (she's nearly 17) but figured it was time to go have someone help her clean it up. She knew what she wanted and was nervous that she would mess it up so she decided to enlist the help of a professional. Her stylist was Heather. I sat there with them for an hour so I got to witness, first hand, how specific my daughter was and how patiently Heather handled it. She was willing and open-minded and had a very calm and personable demeanor. She, actually, went above and beyond what was probably expected of her by management but seemed to have no problem with getting it just right. Also, the other women who worked there were easy going, they all seemed to get along and there was no competitive or higher than thou vibe like at some salons. My daughter kinda obsesses over her hair so it was very pleasing to experience her being happy as we left. She told Heather that she would go back and see her which is a testament. It is kind of rare to get treated with such care at any place of business so I wanted to take the time to give props and show some love. read more

Listen to the bad reviews! I am not a primadonna at all. I'm quite low maintenance, but when two people cannot get a straight trim off the bottom correct, and have to bring in a third to get it close to what you want, you have to wonder where these people were trained and how did they get their license. I went in for a trim of 4 inches -- a lot for me -- straight off the bottom. Got home and noticed that one side was longer than the other. so went in the next day. No problem, we will take care of it for you. I'll be nice and say they did that with grace. So next person is up at bat to give it a try. Shows me that she has now made it into a "V" cut. NO! I want it straight across the bottom. A third person came over and guided her on what to do. Shouldn't you know how to make a straight line? Won't drag this out anymore, though I could. I wound up with EIGHT inches coming off my nice long hair, which is now medium length. Oh, and a co worker of mine at the office on Monday had to cut off a piece that was dangling that was missed by nos. 2 and 3. Do not go here!!!! read more
