The hairstyle I requested was not even approximated by the stylist. Despite her assurance that she would follow my instructions, the haircut she gave my son was uneven and not what I asked for. The only positive note was a $5 discount, but honestly, I would have preferred paying full price for a haircut that met my expectations. I highly recommend this Super Cuts Salon. I've been a Supercuts customer on and off for many years. I've had some great hairdressers that have come and gone. I decided to try out the location in El Cerrito yesterday. I met two of the nicest professionals. Went there early in the morning, the only people there was a customer, worker, and myself. When it was my turn I asked for my hair to be GRAZING my shoulders cause I didn't want my hair to be too short. Usually when getting cuts my hair is wet so the results when dry are different. I don't know the name of the worker but it seems like she wasn't listening because she cut my hair basically to my chin. She then added layers which I didn't ask for! When it was freshly cut it didn't look too bad but when it fully dried it was a whole different story! It seemed like she was in a rush but only one other person was there! I've gotten my hair cut here many times, usually by Olga or Vivian, and they do a great job (sadly I think maybe Olga isn't working there anymore). But sometimes I just drop in and take whoever is available... and that's what I did today. Gigi cut my hair, and the haircut was ok (not as good as Olga or Vivian, but still ok). The reason for the 2 stars is because about half way through the cut Gigi started telling me how her family had been badly impacted by the typhoon in the Philippines and that she's collecting money to send there to help the people who've been impacted, and wouldn't I please give her some money to send them. This went on through the remainder of my cut and it was very annoying. I don't have a problem with the ask - but she should just say there's a bucket on the counter for donations, period. It felt invasive and unprofessional. I will avoid getting a cut from Gigi in the future. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS SUPERCUTS! it is horrible. My partner had a whole chunk of his hair taken right on the front of the hair. He realized this happened when the person working on his hair said WOOPS!. After that he asked for a fade to which the person working on his haircut answered "I'm a cosmetician not a barber", after that botched haircut, the person said o don't pay then in a condescending attitude. Went for a haircut Saturday morning, and there was one person having their hair cut ahead of me when I walked in. But I didn't have to wait very long until it was my turn. I was surprised to see a magazine shelf with magazines. Didn't touch them. I was helped by Linh. She was excellent. Took her time to cut my hair, didn't rush through the job. At the end she asked if my hair was short enough. I didn't notice at the time, but now I wished she hacked off my bangs. They're too long. But that was on me. Have used this Supercuts for years but today the woman was unfriendly telling me to wait and hour and store was empty she had taken appointments for much later. I have really short hair and it would have taken her 15 minutes max to cut. Not sure but never saw her before so perhaps franchise changed owners. Since I found this place it has become my permanent spot for haircuts. I had tried other areas but they messed up my ahead so bad. A clean job well done. So, how do I rate my toddler son's (first real) haircut? This is a tough call. The haircut looks good. Not great, but decent. My toddler HATED the experience. So because he screamed and cried the whole time and wouldn't sit still, the haircut is good for what it is. I think it was a combination of being at a new place, around strangers in masks, the buzzing clippers, and people trying to touch his head. He just wasn't having it. I tried to do my best by distracting him with cartoons on my phone or a facetime with daddy, but it didn't help. The hair stylists tried their best and were really patient with us. If they were annoyed, they didn't show it. I tipped them both very graciously, since they both tried to cut his hair. Our experience with them was worthy of 4 stars because they were very patient. Now for the rest of the experience. If you have to wait, they don't want anyone to wait inside. So, we waited an hour outside. When we showed up just before 10:00, a man was inside getting his hair cut by the only stylist there, and there was one other man waiting outside. When the first man was done, the second man went inside to get his done. She literally took 45+ minutes to cut this man's hair. Not a shampoo or blowout. He was a normal dude with a normal haircut. I don't know anything about cutting hair, I'll give you that. But I've been to many hair salons, and I've never witnessed a normal dude's haircut taking that long. Just before 11:00, another stylist arrived, and I guess he assumed that my toddler and I were there waiting for the man to be finished (like we were a family and we were waiting to leave with him), not that we were waiting for my son to get his haircut. So, once the man's haircut was finished and then WE went inside, the second stylist felt embarrassed and started my son's haircut right away (even though he had an appointment with a client starting just then! Thank you to the client who allowed us to go first). Long story short, I will look for a place that specializes in children's haircuts for his next one. Hopefully it'll go better... read more

i stopped in for a fast cut this morning. the young lady that greeted me ( very nice ) she was outside smoking a cig. They have been open for about 15 minutes Before I got there. I joined her for a few seconds. .( I vape ) I went inside thinking she would come in and start but she finished the cigarette and said she was running late. It's now about 9:20. after she. set up for the morning and started cutting . . Slightly better experience than great clips in Albany. However, the check in process can be confusing if no one is at the desk to assist you. I had checked in online and was not sure if I had to check in again when I arrived, so I did anyway. There was a wait, not too big a deal on a Sunday afternoon. Anything longer would have been a bit much since the waiting area is not that big. There were only two workers and I think it was just luck of the draw. I've had better hair cuts here, so I was disappointed when I got home and saw my sides were uneven. Also, I paid for my partners hair cut too and noticed that they had skipped out on his warm towel finish because his face hairs all over. My experience with them have ranged from average to good. Some of them leave you wanting a little bit, and have to ask for a little bit more of trim here and there. Less frequent is when they leave you happy and wishing for the same cut the next time you visit. Thankfully, none has been a disaster that makes you want to never come back. The only annoyance is when you call up to be put in the wait list; it's almost an exercise in futility. Pleasantly Surprised. Let me start by saying I do not cut my hair very often. It's not one of those things that's a high priority for me. My last cut was in 2017 and truthfully I hated it. So 4 years and a pandemic later I decided it was time. My hair was dead, long and in need of a major chop. I also wanted it to happen ASAP before I got cold feet again.... I enjoy rolling the dice on cheap haircuts, but this was unlike anything I'd ever seen. Mostly because Jesse didn't actually DO anything. I was in an out in 10 minutes, and not in a good way. All I wanted was 3 inches off the bottom. Jesse didn't wet my hair, which surprised me because that's basically how you can tell if it's even while you're cutting it. I have pretty wavy hair but I straighten it a lot, so I really do need it to all be the same length. Jesse just kind of walked around my head randomly hacking off bits. He also missed a spot (check out the picture I posted), which I didn't even bother pointing out because at that point I was shocked at how dismissive he seemed about the whole event. The next day I went to another Supercuts, since I still love rolling those dice. They put me back together. Thanks Jesse, for not doing anything so awful that the next guy couldn't undo it.
