At first I only wanted Johnny to do my hair, but our schedules weren't lining up. So I chose Ana. She is very detailed and she fixed it!! I couldn't have been happier! If I went to her to begin with to fix it I would have saved a grand. But here is the more impressive part. We are in a pandemic. I've been stuck at home for 30 days not face timing because my roots were so bad. I was due to go in when this started. So you know what they did? They sold me a tint kit to do at home and Ana face timed with me. I was stressed and overly concerned I was messing up and she just kept with me. Now I have pretty hair in a pandemic. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

And I'm pretty sure illigal. There was something else about refusing a service.. which should have never been booked and i was asked up front if it should be moved to another stylist. I had JUST recieved a performance review three days prior that was nothing but glowing praise. From my attendance and work around the shop, to the revenue and tips i was bringing in with my work. That same day there were some very choice, quite racist talk from the front desk. He chose to speak about Indian women, claiming that they smell bad, are finicky, and then mocked the accent. And then shockingly referred to them as "curry queens" in a very derogatory manner Not coincidentally, two days later she decided to fire my partner who had been a loyal employee for 6 years... claiming he had missed too much work... when he had been legitimately sick twice. He was fired through a text message and asked to collect his things. The stylists are fantastic, but over worked and grossly underpaid.
