It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

She then gave me the option to be a work in, "maybe she would be able to call me back in 20 mins" or I would have to reschedule to another day. I had taken the day off for this appointment and her demeanor was very unprofessional.

Maria is very professional and listened to how I described what I needed done and she did an excellent job. I know my hair and I know what it can and can't do. A lot of people bring in a picture and want their hair to be done just like the picture but if your hair isn't as thick or thin as the models hair your hair won't look like the picture even if the stylist does it exactly how the picture is shown. We all have to have realistic expectations of what our hair can do. The store location is next to subway and sometimes parking can be a little tricky but depending on what time of the day that you go you should be able to get in and out pretty good. The store is nice and clean and they are constantly sweeping up the hair off the floor. If you haven't been in the shop for a while it might be a good time to stop by. Every Tuesday is 2.00 off for seniors.
