I saw someone recommend Vince's Salon on a random Facebook post and I decided to walk-in first thing this morning. Vince squeezed me in and started with a great wash followed by an even better cut. I've had a few cuts where it feels like they cut straight across and call it good. This was a real old school very detailed cut. He paid attention to what I requested and executed it perfectly. I never commit to one stylist because I like to just get it cut in a whim but I think that changed today. Great job Vince. read more

I have been going to Vince since I was 16 he saved my hair from a botched balayage job and every other hair dresser wanted to thin out my hair and never listened to what I wanted he saved my hair from the awkward stages. Vince has been cutting (trimming) my hair (trimming) for six years. The problem with Vince is that he is very arrogant and that "he knows what is best" even though that is not is what is being asked. I have always been super nice to him so that he wouldn't get into his irritated mood. I went to him this time asking him to cut my hair a little bit shorter with a pic of what I would like. I also asked for very soft light blonde highlights, particularly around my face (my hair is brown). First, he cut my hair much shorter and not according to the pic. Then he put severe blonde highlights.I said when he blow dried it, "it is blonde." He was exclaiming "How beautiful."I don't know why I didn't say much and just went home. The right and back sides of my hair were not the same length. The left front side was longer than the right. I constantly had to keep putting my hair behind my ears because the length was awkward and uncomfortable. Furthermore, it was REALLY yellow blonde on the top and sides. However, the back had big chunky blonde areas with dark patches (of my natural color) on the left side and all blonde on the right side but dark down my neck. So I went back and asked for him to fix the cut. There was nothing that could be down to fix the color but to go all blonde, which I didn't want. He was very irritated (as he tends to get if you ask for anything), blow dried it and claimed nothing was wrong and that "it was beautiful." I went home again and still couldn't do anything with it. My husband kept trying to brush it to make it even but it was awful. So I decided to go back and just have it cut a little shorter because he had cut it much shorter than I had originally asked for and it looked terrible. I asked him to cut it behind my ears so I didn't have to keep putting it back manually. I showed him over and over what I meant. I said I wanted layers all over. He washed my hair and blow dried it, cutting bits and pieces like the last time. I kept stopping him telling him what I wanted. He kept saying, "I haven't done anything yet" and "I'm doing it." But he was cutting it while it was dry. What I was asking for, with the layers, should have been done with wet hair. He repeatedly said that I kept changing my mind. The problem was that he didn't cut it correctly the first time and I kept trying to be nice and, repeatedly, said I couldn't do anything with it. I just wanted to cut a tiny bit shorter to even it out and cut it behind my ears so I didnt have to keep doing it myself. He got mad and he started hacking away at it dry--all over! He mumbled that this would be the last time he would cut my hair! Finally, I said STOP!! I was tired of being nice with this man. I told him that he hadn't listened in the first place and that he'd made my hair blonde all over in the front and totally uneven highlights in the back. For some reason he wasn't having his arrogant little tantrum like usual. He was mad but holding back. And it's because he knew I was right. I repeated stated why I was so upset, mainly because he didn't LISTEN in the first place. He cut and colored it the way HE wanted it. But, of course, he said, "so its all my fault!" I said that I was always too nice to him because of his attitude and that I should have spoken up the first time. However, the damage was done the first time because it was much shorter than I wanted and way too blonde. He said he "wasn't doing my hair no more". I can't believe that HE HAD THE NERVE to think that I would let him touch my hair again after all of this!! He just wanted to make himself feel better that it was actually his decision. The only reason that I'm giving two stars rather than one is because he did cut my hair for six years. But please note, I had a very basic bob with my hair the same length all over. It was easy to do. I'm not sure why I put up with him and his arrogance over the years. I must also mention, as others have included in their comments, that whenever he speaks to his colleagues that he only speaks in Vietnamese even though they speak English. He particularly does this when he is irritated. I always just believed that was his way. I shoukd have been hesitant when I was unhappy that he put too tight curls in my perms. So, I guess it's partially my fault for trusting him and thinking he would (or could) cut and highlight my hair as I asked. The fact that his salon is almost always empty should also be a sign that this is not the place to put your trust in. I'm taking responsibility now for not trusting my gut. The good news about him cutting my hair so short this last time is that it cut out most of the yellow blonde highlights. I will just live with this short haircut until it grows out. However, part of my responsibility is to share my story and warn others to find another salon than Vince's if you need more than a trim. read more

Barbershops are in abundance in Dallas but don't know how to do a scissor cut, which is what I need for my thick straight hair. It will show every mistake made with a clipper. Vince squeezed me in and did an excellent job in reshaping a terrible barber cut. You need someone who understands how a hair lays on the head, the shape of the head, etc. He consults with you and listens. I will be back !! read more

I recently had a bad experience at Vince's Salon. I went in to have blonde highlights with "light brown" low lights. The hairdresser (Tina) told me that both highlights would be too light for my face coloring and would not look good on me. I had been to her two times before and they turned out perfect, just the way I had asked. For some reason, she decided otherwise this time. I didn't know until she was finished, what she had done. I ended up with VERY "dark" low lights, so dark you could barely see the highlights. I was so disappointed with the way it turned out. I told her it was too dark and she told me she thought it looked great to her. It was horrible. I ended up going back and asking to have the low lights lightened. The hairdresser was not happy about that and the second time around it was still too dark. When a stylist doesn't listen to what the client wants and does what "they" think is best for you, it's time to go elsewhere to find someone who does care and will listen. read more

I have been to Vince 3 times now and my haircuts are always on point! I also took my husband with me as well and had his styled by Vince and we were both happy with the results. I have been/WAS a LOYAL client to Don at Richland Hair for 5+ years. Although I still think he does a great job, VINCE does SUCH A FANTASTIC job. I have never felt so "pampered" when it comes to getting a simple haircut. Let me backtrack though, so anyone who has been to Don for a number of years, knows that he goes to Vietnam at least once a year and apparently this time he was gone for SEVERAL months and even his mother doesn't know when he will come back! So I became desperate and was recommended Vince's Salon by my favorite cousin Kevin Lao. OH BOY has my life changed!!! I am one of those very silent clients who just wants to have a time to relax and take in the haircut experience. He spent 45 minutes on my hair! My hair is naturally straight and I just get it cut with a few layers. He changed my layers to make it more 'V' shaped in the back and gave it "texture" (which I think is just more layers?) I'm not sure about the hair jargon, but apparently it IS different. Anyways I went in on an early Saturday morning (10AM) and it was very quiet and peaceful since there was only 1 or 2 other customers there. Apparently Vince has been AT THAT location and CUTTING hair for 22 years! He has a VERY loyal customer base and I can understand why. He has also studied in Paris and other places and he does keep up with what is "in" and such. My haircut was $25, which is typical for me. I don't get my hair washed or styled at a salon (how they upcharge you more). read more

For one, they were very accommodating. They allowed me to come in two hours earlier than my appointment, which I appreciated. The breakage is so bad at the back of my crown it looks like a Mohawk. I went here based on good yelp reviews. Absolutely never again! Somehow my hair came out worse than when I walked in.
