    Upper End Salon always has my back!! Chrisi did my balayage, and she was fantastic in understanding what I wanted and flawlessly executing it. Stoney, the receptionist, is also so warm and helpful, using his time outside of working hours to get my weekday appointment booked. The salon atmosphere is super peaceful and zen. Prices are also very reasonable!! I HIGHLY recommend.

    I would rate this place and Luis a 0 star if I could! The absolute worst experience I've ever had at a salon. I literally left the place in tears with how bad the color was. I came in a honey to light blonde, asked for a strawberry blonde with a balayage look and left with nearly black roots and brunette at the bottom. I brought in 3 pics and all I said I wanted different was that I wanted to roots to blend in with my natural color. Obviously my natural hair color is not super dark as I am a natural blonde. I have no idea how we got from me coming in blonde, asking for a little red to be added and left a dark brown brunette. When I told him I didn't like it they immediately scheduled me to come in to get it fixed, well on the day they were having me come in I got a text saying he needed to cancel and could not accommodate me for another 5 days! Then when I called he continued to tell me how he didn't see much of a difference in the end result and the pics I showed him... idk maybe I'm the color blind one here, but you can be the judge of that (all before, Example pics and afters are attached) Please don't make the mistake I made and go to this place for color!! I am having to go to another salon, last minute, to get this fixed before I have to go to work like this. Absolutely horrified, this salon and Luis completely ruined my once healthy hair! Update: In response to Kelles reply below... yes I said the F word... but let's be very clear here, none of my foul language ever was pointed at a person. I was extremely upset that they "ruined my F**ing hair." I was also extremely pleasant and repeatedly let them know I trusted they could fix this when I was AT the salon and would return 2 days later for them to make it right. It was not until they called to cancel and told me he stood behind his work and didn't see much different in the end result to the pics I shared that I dropped an F bomb (ultimately he was trying to blame me for this.) Let's not lead people to believe you're the victim here. And while they did not charge for the color. I now have to go to another salon and pay for a color correction because they canceled my original appt today. Not to mention I never needed to damage or bleach my hair, and now to correct his mistake my hair is going to end up much more damaged, something I would have gladly paid twice the cost to avoid!     Ask for Maricarmen Gutierrez. She's the best! Amazing job! She helps you and guide you in your needs. They all are nice at the salon. Great customer service

    I went through several hair salons before I found Luis through a substantial amount of positive Google reviews back when he worked in McKinney. I've been getting my hair cut by him for over a year now, and have happily followed him to his location in Wylie. Every time I go I just tell him the length I want and some general descriptions and to do whatever he think me will look good. He always delivers. Doesn't hurt that he is a super cool person and easy to communicate with. We like talking about positive things that are going on in our lives, and my visits to get my haircut seem to mark pretty remarkable milestones for both of us! You won't regret getting all of your hair needs handled by Luis and his staff. Highly recommend!!!

    What I Wanted/What I started with/What I got

    Absolutely terrible. But looks are deceiving and so are some of the stylists, Owner, and Receptionist. I found this salon on yelp and was so excited all the work looked amazing. I went in for a consultation and talked to the receptionist a few times to get that scheduled and I was very impressed with how attentive he was. When I got there he was super super nice. And my stylist Jennifer the vivid specialist at the salon seemed very nice. We were on the same page with the consultation. Yes my hair is damaged and I would have been fine if she chose not to work on my hair. But she seemed very confident she would handle it even excited. So skip to hair color day still very excited still feeling like me and stylist were on the same page. Skip to end result. Absolutely not. I have the blonde I wanted when I walked in the salon wanted a pretty purple base to get rid of the boring brown I had, and a purple Balyage. Which was all stuff we talked about. I ended up with a dark brown almost black base, a purple that didn't take all the way which she didn't offer to do another application and a ugly whatever color concoction she made on my blonde. I wasnt happy she even stated herself "not what I had planned for this" So her and the receptionist (receptionist is the owners brother) said give it a week if your not happy we will fix it for you. He said my sister is the owner she will make it right for you !! He gave me his personal salon card. They took pictures of what it looked like when I left the salon. Well it obviously wasn't what I wanted so no use in waiting a week. So I called the next day Once again he was very nice and we scheduled a day to fix my hair. So I go in today to get it "fixed" and I get 100% railroaded by the Owner/stylist and the stylist that did my hair. Owner says your hair is damaged nothing we can do to fix it we will give a 30% refund. The reason your hair is purple on the bottom is because the purple bled on it. 1000% not what happened and my stylist knew it and she stood there like a coward and said nothing ! They both lied to me and tried to talk to me like I was stupid which I dont appreciate. I wanted to make the owner understand I wasn't being irrational that her stylist did this to my hair. She wasn't hearing it. I refused the 30% refund because thats bullshit. she asked me to leave and I wouldn't so she said she was going to call the cops on me. And I said ok I will wait for them to get here. I never signed anything that said I would accept a 30% refund (50 dollars on a 150 service with a 20 dollar tip) i think not. The super super nice receptionist turned mean as f**k and yes I was alittle overwhelmed im also pregnant and have anxiety I kept telling them I wasn't trying to be rude they just were trying to rip me off. And tried to make me feel bad for "only leaving a 20$ tip" ended up getting 100$ back but they wanted me to sign a paper saying I wouldn't leave any bad or negative reviews. I was soooo overwhelmed and done by that point I started crying. Left that salon in tears. The beautiful salon where everyone seems so nice turned into mean girls. So all in all they are deceiving and thats a shame because I was so excited when I found them. Honestly owner made me feel like she looked down on me like she was better than me or something like I was begging for my money. No treat your customers right. I would have been a loyal customer.

    Got my hair done here several months ago by Luis. The conversation was forced and awkward. I came in for a cut and color. I had some blonde in my hair and just wanted an overall color that matched my natural color. I'm a light brown. He had an assistant that did some pieces on one side while he did the other side and the back. Then another new client came in and he did a hair cut on her. My hair processed for a total of 55 minutes. I was there for 3 hours and 15 minutes. I know this exact time because I told my husband it would take 2 and half hours and we had set a lunch date. While Luis was dying my hair he frantically ran over and put a towel behind my back.... But it was too late. My white summer sweater was completely ruined. Hair dye all over it. Finally, after hair cut, Luis gave to another client, he comes over after I'm shampooed and cuts and blow dries my hair. It was red. My anger matched my hair. I made a comment like this is way more red than I was planning and he laughed it off. I felt like I went to a high school friends house to get my hair done. He took the price of the cut off the bill due to ruining sweater. But ultimately, I walked out with red hair and ruined sweater. Total loss. I called back and set a time to "fix" my hair but I ended up getting a cold and had to cancel. I honestly never want to step foot in there again. I also want to add that when I did talk to the female owner, I told her that I really didn't want to waste another hour of my work to come in and tone my hair. It should have been done right the first time. Judging by the other reviews, it looks like the female owner is probably the only good hair stylist here, so if you're gung ho on going here, probably best to request for her.

    Thank you thank you thank you for the warm welcome and excellent service. I was able to make an appointment through Yelp's messaging service and the staff at Upper End was able to accommodate me quickly! I was greeted and introduced to the family that owns the salon. My stylist, Maria Carmen, took the time to listen to me but also offered some input on color etc...which I really appreciated because I don't have a lot of insight. The end result is gorgeous and while it's a little different than what I expected, I love it. I have no regrets. I'm in the middle of studying for a test and entire process and result of my appointment made me feel so beautiful, inside and out. My stylist also took the time to teach me how to curl my hair which for someone who doesn't have a lot of skills in the beauty department, meant a lot. Really looking forward to returning and bringing my friends and family with me.

    By far the best salon around. I've been going to Kelle for almost 2 years & I've never been disappointed. She listens to what you want & explains the process of how to get there. She cares about her clients & their hair! Before I found her I had been going to a couple different hair stylists who would want to do it all in one session & while that sounds awesome, it's NOT! My hair was so damaged & ruined. When I met Kelle she wanted to get my hair back to healthy & beautiful. You have to trust the "process". It's so worth it. She is honest about where your hair is and what it will take for it to be where you want it. She truly cares about her customers leaving happy. Apart from being amazing at what she does she's a beautiful person inside & out! They run the salon to the comfort of their clients. It's clean & so cute! You leave feeling like a million bucks without breaking the bank! Let's just say I've found "my" go to person for my hair & so does my family actually! She's also cut my 4 year olds hair & at first I was nervous on how my daughter would do but they made her feel like it was nothing to worry about. Let's just say my daughter now "asks" to go get a haircut! If I could give her more stars I would!

    How much does the removal of box dye cost? It was a natural color done over a year ago and most of it is chopped off and my hair is still very healthy!

    Hello! We usually charge $70 per removal application but it does depend on what the overall hair goal is. I would recommend coming in for a consultation so we can take a look at your hair in person.

Now the second time is where it all went south. I told her beforehand that my hair has been bleached before and I went dark 5 months prior to this appointment. Knowing that, she proceeded to bleach my hair and assured me that she could do it. It just wouldn't be as light as it was originally. Before coming to the salon, I had long hair and by the end of it, 3/4 of my hair was burned off and different lengths. I didn't realize it at the time because she curled my hair and I assumed some hair fall out was normal. The next day I was livid and asked for a refund and she did indeed give it back. I had to go to another salon to get a haircut so my hair could at least be the same length. I didn't realize the extent of how bad it was until the hairstylist told me in order for my hair to be the same length, I would have to get a bob! Please see before photo attached for how long my hair was before if you want to get a picture of how much of my hair burned off and she still had me pay that day.. If you want bleached hair, do NOT go to her. She doesn't understand color and doesn't care about hair integrity. It took an extreme hit to my self confidence because my hair was two toned, choppy, and so damaged. If she cared about the integrity of my hair she should have did a test strand because I would never have let her put bleach on my hair if I knew it was going to break off. If you ask me, she should have her license taken away.
