A few weeks ago, after reading the reviews and having been familiar with the Frederic Fekkai…read moresalons, I came for a 1" trim to my long-time, blunt-cut, medium-length (3 inches below the chin), slightly angled bob, beveled a bit underneath at the nape. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

When I proceeded to pay, I realized there was a $9 charge for using a card. I had never seen that at a salon before. I wouldn't have mind leaving that in addition to the tip I left for my stylist, because she was the one who did my service, but a charge for a card fee, that's definitely not the norm. Great employees means great business! I've been coming here because I have a good friend that does my hair here. She is the best! When I'm with her the other employees come and talk, it's like you're at a table with friends. It's very welcoming and friendly. They do hair, color, waxing, even have a massage person too and they also do nails and toes! It's a all around great place! Check them out and see!
