It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

I use to have such, amazing thick hair. Then I got dx with a thyroid dz. Which, if you do not know, can make your hair thin. However, I went today, and Maria was AMAZING! She made me feel so comfy, understood my hair (it is also wavy to curly on its own), and didn't shame me for having thin hair, due to my thyroid. I had hair to my rib cage, now it is to my shoulders. Vince squeezed me in and started with a great wash followed by an even better cut. I've had a few cuts where it feels like they cut straight across and call it good. This was a real old school very detailed cut. He paid attention to what I requested and executed it perfectly.
