Hair Trim by Kwan, looks alright minus the sides of my bangs..
Rachelle P.

Yesterday I stopped in for a haircut since my stylist was booked out and desperately needed one before some events coming up. I'll be honest I was nervous. My last haircut here was in 2014 and they chopped my hair, I was reassured by my Stylist Kwan that she had been doing hair for about 20 years and would make sure my hair was even and matched the picture I showed her of the way I like my hair. With my trust in her hands, she began trimming, halfway through my haircut she asked how my bangs looked and I said don't trim any shorter than that after seeing them. She was really sweet and had good conversation so I left a tip, but I probably won't be back, it's higher than I pay with my stylist I go to and when I got home upon further inspection, the sides of my bangs were noticeably choppy and uneven and didn't frame my face well like I asked. To be fair the rest of my hair looked alright and the shop was nice, so I'm leaving 3 stars, but I wouldn't recommend Kwan doing your hair despite her experience.

Why can't you give zero stars? That's what this establishment deserves. Took the two kids for a quick cut and style. The 13-year-old boy came in with Jonas brothers style hair and left looking like a new recruit in the Army. So that's just a trim huh? After the bottom layer had been buzzed I jumped over in an attempt to save the boy. But the hair stylist (if we can even call her that) didn't even stop buzzing. She said, "Oh, he said a 3 and a 5". Okay, well, I'm saying stop! Then she lectured the 13-year old until he cried about how he must tell her the proper numbers before he sits down. Seriously there were tears. To get the 10-year-old girl's hair blow dried after her cut? $40. And yes, that's on top of a fee for shampoo and a fee for cutting. My total was $58 for her. Just totally insane. When I asked about the price breakdown, I wasn't able to view a price breakdown or understand what costs what and why, I was just told that's the cost of blow drying for everyone. This was a horrible experience and no one seemed to care at the salon. Apparently the "stylists" (again, loosely translated) are running around managerless.

Seriously they wanted $60 for blow & curl when I had my hair washed at home. Ridiculous & I'll never be coming back for a just a dry & style

Today I had my second session of partial highlights and balayage with Marcie @marcie_makingthecut…read moreand I am AMAZED with the results. A little hair background: I have fine, black Asian hair and my end goal is to get platinum blond. Prior to my first appointment, I was all about ashy blond hair. However, I had quite a bit of warmth near my roots and my ends were light, so when I kept using purple shampoo, only my ends would get ashier, making my roots appear even warmer due to the contrast. When I showed up to my first session, Marcie listened to what I didn't like about my hair and what I want to eventually achieve. She then gave me different options depending on my budget ($135, $175, $200), which is very considerate. I went with the $200 option and she let me know that since I had a bit of correcting to do (get rid of the brassy roots and even out my previous blond), it would be a little more expensive this time, but now that I have an even canvas to work off of, next session would be cheaper. Fast forward three months later to today, aka my second session. I've been super excited to go back to Marcie for her to work more miracles on my hair as this time, I wanted to go icy white. She told me that since I do naturally have black hair, I may not be able to get there and I understood that and she once again, gave me the option of partial highlights ($165) and full highlights ($200). I went with the partial highlights and she was able to get my ends super super light. Another new thing that I wanted to try was bring the blond up to my roots, but I noticed it looked a little chunky after she dried my hair. We talked about this and she patiently explained that is because my natural hair is a level 1 and transitioning to a level 7 is a very big difference, but she was willing to apply a little bit more toner in my roots just to soften it up a little more and I was super super happy with the results. TLDR, I would most definitely recommend Marcie if you're looking for a friendly, knowledgable hairstylist who takes the time to explain your hair's situation. Also, she has very reasonable pricing and is only booked about ten days ahead. Love her work and patience!

Walked in a couple minutes before my appointment and was greeted right away. Met my stylist Brittany and she was amazing! We talked about what cut I wanted and she listened to everything I said. Two years after a traumatic experience attempting a gray blend in the Bay Area, I booked an…read moreappointment with Tanya (or Tetyana) to fix the mess that was made. Long story short, the guy in the Bay highlighted my entire head in bleach, burned off pieces of my hair underneath (I have thick hair thank god), and after growing it out for so long, my hair was super uneven, thin at the bottom, and the bleach parts refused to ever curl. My hair looked crazy unless I styled it-- the new growth being curly and the old hair lying pin straight. I couldn't take it anymore. I found all the lovely reviews on Tanya and decided to give it a shot since I just moved to the Roseville area. Let me tell you, she did a FANTASTIC job! I haven't had short-ish hair for many, many years and was terrified to cut it. She took my face shape and structure into account and landed on a cut that would complement me, which it clearly does since everyone compliments my hair now and tells me how cute it looks. I'm so happy to have found Level Posh salon. I'll be back for deep conditioning treatments and maintenance. I'm super thankful to have my natural hair back!

I have been coming to Hoss Lee Academy for facials, back treatments, and hair since September of…read more2025! Since it's a beauty school, prices are significantly lower compared to other places. I met a variety of students that were always so kind and service is amazing. Every time I walk in for an appointment, the environment is always clean and organized. I make sure to tip the students generously because I've heard they don't get paid for doing services. However, one thing of feedback I have is to improve on communication. Upon arrival, clients will do additional one page paperwork that asks what skin care products you use, yes/no questions, and another signature. It's quick and simple to do! Then, an esthetics instructor pulled me to the side and asked we could talk. There was another woman alongside her who I did not recognize and never met in my life nor did she introduce herself. The esthetics instructor told me they were not sure why no one told me but are unable to do services on me because they basically found things in my hair 2 weeks ago at my facial and back treatment appointment. While I appreciate the instructor informing me this, this interaction was indeed embarrassing just like the instructor said so. If it is so embarrassing, why was I told this in-person rather than a phone call? I made this appointment 2 weeks prior so they had 2 weeks to communicate with me. I have Hoss Lee Academy's number saved so if they called me I would have known but they did not. This was honestly unprofessional and disappointed with HLA. I hate having to write a review like this but during and after that interaction I feel humiliated. I drove far and wasted my gas for an interaction that could have and should either been done over an email or a call. If this is how Hoss Lee Academy treats their clients I can't imagine what it is like to be a student. You truly get what you pay for; I am going to find another place and if I have to pay more for better customer service then so be it.
