I. Love. My. Stylist…read more Granted, I came across her because she is married to a coworker. I thought "sure, I'll give her a try. I don't get my hair cut that often, but I can sometimes be particular... let's see how she does." JESS DECARR IS FANTASTIC. She always gives me a fantastic cut. And if, a few weeks later I decide to completely change my mind, she's there for me. She will sit you down in her chair and consult with you prior to bringing you over for a shampoo. That's fantastic, as most stylists ask "whattaya want?" after your hair is wet and dripping down your neck. Not Jess! As she's cutting, it's like she reads my body language to know what to do next. She's fantastic. I get great haircuts, they grow out beautifully, and I am so happy with her work. I never color my hair, but she is also a color specialist. I've seen her work in photos, and it is gorgeous. As my grays start coming through, she will be my go-to! Highly recommend Hair It Is as a warm, inviting atmosphere (free easy private parking lot, too!), with affordable pricing. I also highly recommend Jess DeCarr as a super stylist! **note, if your eyebrows are beastly, fear not! Jess is also available to wax!

Can't relate to the other positive reviews. I had my first appointment and it was thoroughly…read moredisappointing, so much so that I made an account JUST to post this review. I got an average haircut coupled with extremely subpar customer service. I don't know if things have gone downhill at this business since the other reviews were posted, but the experience I had was severely lacking. Things started out courteously enough, but rapidly devolved into a strange mix of unsolicited advice giving/passive aggression. I was made very self conscious and felt belittled for a medical condition that I have and was told that had the stylist known, she wouldn't have even cut my hair. Seems to be a far cry from the other two glowing reviews here. I would never recommend this business to anybody I know, not even my absolute worst enemy. Give this one a pass.

I will never go to this shop again. I arrived at Bijou today for my 12:30 appointment, and was told…read morethat I didn't have an appointment, it was under someone else's name. I asked if the mistake could have been made on their end, because I had the appointment on my calendar for weeks and remember making it. The other person was not there. They made me wait for 20 minutes, not telling me whether or not they would take me, just saying, "You're not in the book." Meanwhile, the other person did not show up and did not answer their phone when they called her. I told the receptionist I was starting to get frustrated with the situation, because I know I'd made the appointment. After 20 minutes the stylist came out and said that she would not take me because I'd been rude to the receptionist. I was in disbelief and asked her, "Chelsea, Are you really not going to take me? This mistake must have been on your end, and I've been looking forward to this appointment for weeks". She merely told me that her "heart was racing and it wasn't good for her so I'd have to reschedule" Never in our interaction did they acknowledge that the mistake could have been on their end, and they treated me horribly. I'm 72 years old and have never been accused of being rude by a shop in my life. Bijou has no idea how to treat their customers. Their arrogance is beyond belief.

I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place.

My daughter initially came as a companion and for mother-daughter time, but has been delighted by Lindsay's talent for both styling hair and eyebrow waxing. I don't know how much they normally charge, but at the event it was about $15. It was super quick -- about 15 minutes tops, probably less. They were stocked with multiple color options -- I went with a chrome for a more subtle touch. The stylist told me they can last months if you're gentle with them, but I'm not fairly rough on my hair, lol. Still, a few weeks later most are still in. Throughout the evening some of the salon stylists were popping around to talk about their full services and literally all of the ladies were super sweet and friendly. Also love that they have juices and healthy foods -- I think they provided the tea and acai on the distillery menu that night. Seems like a great space -- heads up that they do hair tinsels if you're looking for someone who offers it! Even though it's a bit of a hike for me, the staff was so sweet that I'd consider making the drive if I needed services.
