And when I said I don't see why I should pay for this hair cut, hair dresser said she provided a service and therefore I had to pay. The discussion continued for a few minutes. Then I paid and left. While this 100% was an accident, common courtesy to me is to apologize and not charge for it. 10/10 would NOT recommend and will not be going back.

I will never go to this shop again. I arrived at Bijou today for my 12:30 appointment, and was told…read morethat I didn't have an appointment, it was under someone else's name. I asked if the mistake could have been made on their end, because I had the appointment on my calendar for weeks and remember making it. The other person was not there. They made me wait for 20 minutes, not telling me whether or not they would take me, just saying, "You're not in the book." Meanwhile, the other person did not show up and did not answer their phone when they called her. I told the receptionist I was starting to get frustrated with the situation, because I know I'd made the appointment. After 20 minutes the stylist came out and said that she would not take me because I'd been rude to the receptionist. I was in disbelief and asked her, "Chelsea, Are you really not going to take me? This mistake must have been on your end, and I've been looking forward to this appointment for weeks". She merely told me that her "heart was racing and it wasn't good for her so I'd have to reschedule" Never in our interaction did they acknowledge that the mistake could have been on their end, and they treated me horribly. I'm 72 years old and have never been accused of being rude by a shop in my life. Bijou has no idea how to treat their customers. Their arrogance is beyond belief.

Wow, I am in shock that I did not review this salon sooner! Bijou was probably one of my greatest…read morediscoveries to date in the Syracuse area. I am a curly haired gal and- let me tell you- I have experienced some pretty awful haircuts in Upstate New York. Lots of places advertise curly cuts, "devacuts", yaddah yaddah- but they truly have no idea what they are doing. I can't tell you how many times I have had to go to NYC for rescue haircuts. ENTER JOLENE AND BIJOU.... if you want a great curly cut, this is where you should be going. Jolene is a genius- she truly understand the dynamic nature of curls and takes her time getting a lay of the "curl land" before she starts snipping. She starts with a dry cut to make sure she doesn't take too much... then she proceeds with the wash and dry process... and then- the grand finale- more styling at the end. She cut my hair before my wedding last July- it was perfect. And she just rejuvenated my mop of hair again today. I find the prices to be very, very fair. As an aside, everyone wears masks at the salon, and they check your temp and employ mandatory hand washing when you first walk in. If you have curly hair and are living in upstate New York/Syracuse, you must try this place.

I have been hunting all over Syracuse for a decent hair stylist. After 10 years of searching, I…read morefound my guy, Tommie Green. I have naturally wavy hair. Most others have cut it so that it is too long and becomes a big, poofy mess. I have tried straightening it over the years and that doesn't work either. He cut it just the right, shoulder-length so that I didn't feel self-conscience leaving it down. He also showed me a foolproof way to cut my own bangs so I didn't have to keep coming back every three weeks to have him trim them. My hair now takes very minimal attention from me and looks great! I have gotten compliments from colleagues, and even from my teenaged daughter (who is usually very critical of my appearance). He also charges a very reasonable price for his excellent expertise. I can't tell you how happy I am that I took a friend's advice to go to him. The salon is in a strange location, behind some apartment buildings and I was a little wary when I first drove up. Once I got inside, I found the salon bright, open and nicely decorated. I know that they moved locations around 2009, so that may be why another review was so low. I would give it a try.

Here is why: First, the salon is very relaxing, well-appointed, yet unpretentious. Stacy is the owner and has a gift for hair design and for running a business, too. Stacy is specially trained by Ouidad to cut curly hair and does an exceptional job. Every time. My daughter initially came as a companion and for mother-daughter time, but has been delighted by Lindsay's talent for both styling hair and eyebrow waxing. She also discovered Angela, the nail technician and her meticulous mani/pedis. She is an expert gel nail provider. The customer service at Indigo is unparalleled. I would recommend Indigo, you'll feel like Queen for a Day! And if you have curly hair, you have to allow Stacy the opportunity to cut and style your hair the Ouidad way, it's amazing! One year later...still loving my hair as done by Stacy at Indigo! It's the healthiest in my whole life, thanks to the fabulous cut (4x/year) and the Ouidad products. This place is definitely a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!"
