Recently, our 16 year old refrigerator decided that it had had enough and stopped keeping our food…read morecold, so we had to replace it. Due to the configuration of our kitchen we were limited in the sizes and styles that we could chose. We found a Fridgidaire model that we liked. We comparison shopped online and all the major retailers were selling it for essentially the same price (give or take $10 at most). So it came down to the cost of delivery and the cost of removing the old fridge. Corbeil won out because in this situation you can't really do any better than free. Yes, the will deliver your new appliance to your house for free and they will take away your old appliance for free. And by that I mean they put it in their truck and drive away with it. Not they bring it to your curb and leave it there (which is what happened to my parents when they purchased with another retailer who said they would "take away" their old appliance). So when we walked into Corbeil we looked around a bit and looked for the model we wanted. They didn't have it in the stainless steel that we wanted, but had it in white. So we were at least able to look at the size, the shelving inside, etc. A salesperson asked us if anyone was helping us and when we said no, he helped us. It was a quick and easy sale for him because we knew exactly what we wanted (not only did I have the model number, I even had the Corbeil product code). He said they didn't have what we wanted in stock but it could be delivered to the store in a week. We were instructed to call the store on the day it was supposed to arrive there and set up the delivery to our house. He put in writing that they were to remove the old fridge and they were to call 1 hour prior to delivering. They don't give you an exact time unfortunately, they say delivery will be between 7am and 5pm - so you either have to hang around at home until they come, or if you are going to be out, you need to be able to get home within an hour (once they call you). On the date that I was instructed to call them, I called and set up the delivery easy-peasy. On the date of delivery, they called me 30 minutes before they were going to arrive. No big deal for me because I was sitting at home waiting for them. The delivery guys were super nice and very efficient. They had to unhinged our front door and put it back on its hinge afterwards. They did it quickly and so our house did not get freezing cold, haha. They instructed me to let the fridge settle for 2 hours before plugging it in. The fridge arrived in good condition. They took away our old fridge. So far so good. I'll update if there is an issue with our new fridge and let you know how they handle it. Hopefully this will not be necessary though. The store itself is big and bright. It's in the strip mall with Ikea, Terra20 and Sears Home. Lots of free parking.

What followed was a mess: after being transferred multiple times and repeatedly dropped from calls, I finally spoke to someone who told me only the sales person could help. That sales person never returned my call. I ended up having to open a ticket, chase the service department several times, and pay an extra $90 just to have the old dishwasher removed. Avoid this company at all cost.

Then did not return to pick it up as promised. We are now attempting to get our money back for the "white glove service" as we had to pay another company to remove it. Disappointing. We will not buy from them again.

Unfortunately, what started as a very positive purchase experience with Canadian Appliance Source…read morehas turned into an extremely frustrating experience following the delivery and installation of our refrigerator. I want to start by saying that our salesman, Joshua Rennalls, was great to deal with throughout the purchase. Graham Schropp has also been very helpful in Joshua's absence and has genuinely tried to assist us in getting this situation resolved. Our 1-star rating is not a reflection of either of them. The problem began after our refrigerator was delivered and the water line was connected. The water line leaked behind the refrigerator and caused water damage to our hardwood flooring, drywall, baseboard and trim. We acted immediately once the leak was discovered to mitigate further damage. This included opening/removing affected materials, drying the area with a fan and dehumidifier and treating the affected area. We have also obtained a professional restoration estimate. CAS uses a third-party delivery company, and interestingly, the CAS invoice specifically states that when a third-party delivery service is used, the third party is responsible for liability, damages and claims arising from the delivery or services provided. Alexander from CAS did call us and, after speaking with us and the delivery team, advised us that the matter was being referred to the delivery company's insurance. Unfortunately, trying to reach him afterward has been extremely frustrating. His number has no voicemail and our subsequent calls have gone unanswered. We then spent considerable time trying to obtain the insurance claim information from the delivery company. We were eventually provided with the claim number and adjuster's information and are now dealing with their liability insurer, who is investigating the claim and has not yet accepted liability. As of today, this has been going on for approximately two weeks. Instead of simply having our home restored after damage arising from a refrigerator delivery and water-line connection, we have had to repeatedly follow up with CAS, the delivery company and now an insurance company while living with the resulting damage. We have provided photos, videos, the CAS invoice and a professional restoration estimate, and we have taken reasonable steps ourselves to prevent the damage from becoming worse. Mistakes can happen. What determines the quality of a company is how those mistakes are handled afterward. We are still hopeful that CAS and the parties involved will step up and get our home restored to its pre-loss condition. If this is resolved properly, I will gladly update this review accordingly. Again, Joshua Rennalls and Graham Schropp have been excellent to deal with. Unfortunately, the overall handling of the damage following delivery has left us extremely disappointed.

The only issue has been our experience with our Kitchen Aid induction cooktop. Thinking of buying one...? Please don't! Our 3-year old cooktop started beeping and shutting down. The Extended Warranty covered the part and after two tries the service contractor called Whirlpool (the granddaddy of all appliance companies!). They said the "part was no longer available!" They meant the Induction top board not the ubiquitous control board. As a result our Induction top/ stove is no longer reparable and is basically junkable! So we are looking to replace a 3 yo stove! So UA gets 5 stars, but Kitchen Aid gets 0! How to compute the review?

The appliance was delivered at 5.30am by a very intimidating man who refused to unpack it or lift it onto the kitchen counter. I am a 60+ year old woman and was alone in the house. His parting comment was thar he expected a positive review of the service. Universal Appliance was totally disinterested in my experience. 5.30am was dark (it was Winter), obviously, I was still in bed, clearly not expecting a delivery. I struggled to lift the appliance and had to ask a neighbour for help. Universal Appliance had said that instillation was covered by the additional cost but were dismissive of my experience. The experience was, quite frankly both disturbing and threatening. I have bought an Aga stove and the Sharp multi function microwave from this company. I will never patronize them again.

The only person that is knowledgeable is the Australian or New Zealand guy who works there. He is great. But I hesitate to go there because the cashiers always screw up, and customer service is brutally slow and they are either not knowledgeable or are untrained. Also their return policies are more strict than other stores. For example we bought a toilet that was defective, and we couldn't return it! I get the whole sanitary thing, but we spend hundreds on a toilet that we could not return. We even called the manufacturer for parts and it still leaked. Finally since we couldn't return it we used caulking! It was such a hassle for weeks and we are still having issues with it! When talking to the plumbing guy at Rona, he said that they would've taking back the toilet in that case, since it was defective. So goes to prove that other places really put the customer first. I've also had tons of issues with items not scanning right, like carpeting here. It took forever to get the pricing resolved as the cashiers had no clue what to do. Ugh so frustrating. Also renting a vehicle is a hassle. Make sure you have a paper copy of your insurance with you. Anyways, I will be avoiding this place as much as possible unless they have a good paint sale. It's just not worth the hassle to go to lowe's otherwise.

While the bed is the preferred choice, I feel that this option (which we offered last week) is reasonable. James agrees the previous conversation was unfortunate and apologized and provided information about the progress of our bed. He said he will look into why we were told we'd have to pay for delivery as that should not have happened. I said thank you and that I did not require a follow up about this staff issue. This is more like our previous experience with Dufresne. When we get our bed I will adjust my review. ********** A number of years ago we purchased a living room set from Dufresne. It was a pleasant and efficient experience without any issues. We were so impressed we've been recommending this company for many years. We returned to purchase a fold out couch and matching love seat on the last weekend in December 2024. Great service. The following weekend we returned to buy a bedroom set. Great service. We were told it would be an 8-10 week wait instead of the usual 6-8 week delivery because it was a special order. We thought this was weird because the "special" part was choosing one of three colours available to us for a small rectangular portion of the headboard made of fabric. Hardly custom, but whatever. We let it go. What's two weeks? Who cares. We were promised white glove service where they bring it in a set it up. Awesome. All in all we dropped almost 10 grand. We have received everything we ordered, with the white glove service, except this bed. The furniture we have received is great, but, while a portion of the bed is available, we are told the headboard is not. We are now at 13 weeks without our bed. When we hit week 10 we asked about the ETA. Nobody knew but somebody in Winnipeg or wherever did. We asked them to reach out and let know when we can expect the bed. After no response we inquired again last week. Still no response about an ETA from the guy who should know. We asked if they could deliver our mattress as we are middle aged and our bodies are getting pretty angry about sleeping on a fold out bed for weeks. Sure, they, said. Pay 50 bucks and we'll drop it off at the curb. We were told we had two deliveries per order available to us. Two orders equals a total of four deliveries, right? No. We've had two deliveries and one of them had furniture from both orders so that means that one trip is two deliveries. So much for white glove service. Or customer service. Or working in good faith as we did. What a slap in the face. They failed to do their part, we are trying to make it work, and they want more money. Yes, we're pretty angry, but more than that we are sad and disappointed. We're not naive. Stuff like this happens all the time, but we honestly thought Dufresne was better than this. Certainly we've told others this in the past. So, our headboard is nowhere to be found, the guy who can at least let us know is ignoring our reasonable request, and the management of this outlet does not seem to care. And we continue to sleep badly each night on a fold out bed.
