The brewery was a cool spot with a chill environment and about 16 options to choose from, they allow for tastings before committing to a drink. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and very chill. I had the Sonrisa Mexican lager once with michelada and once without; the michelada wasn't great. I also liked the prickly pear which tasted more like a cider but tasty all the same. My partner had the hibiscus tequila infused sake which was ok but not a real cocktail. I'd return for the Sonrisa when back at the Boulevard marketplace . Know that this place only accepts card payment no cash.

I spent quite a bit of time with the lady working there, and she recommended the one I purchased. When I got home and opened the box, I was shocked. The product had a foul smell, and to my horror, a live worm crawled out. It was disgusting and completely unacceptable. I couldn't believe a store would sell something like this to its customers. This experience has seriously damaged my trust in this store. The quality control is clearly lacking, and the customer service is nothing like it used to be. The staff no longer seem interested in helping customers--they act as if they're the owner's relatives and don't care about providing good service. Very disappointed!

They're not as crowded as they used to pre-covid days, but that's always a plus on my end as a customer due to not having to wait for a table. I can describe them as a Hole-In-The-Wall kind of bar as they are definitely not trendy and updated (Think: Christmas decorations all year round). They have Bogo deals on their beer and you get to save any un-redeemed pitcher for your next visit. Highly recommended for anyone to just want to chill with their friends and have a good time playing Liar Dice.

Their food is all so fresh and real, you can taste the quality in the bite! Fish was fresh, not old at all. The fish tacos were good, lime had no juice but nonetheless it was good tacos. Their burgers were a thick patty and the meat was fresh and lean, not fatty at all. This is the first place I tried with beef that tasted fresh and legit, no crazy salty seasoning or oily at all. Juicy but light and my burger was not messy, I felt clean after eating! Incredible service and our waters were often refilled. Pulled pork sandwich was good but definitely on the dry side, hoped for more sauce. Chicken wings and pizza were finger lickin good, loved it! I was happy and would definitely come back.

They were playing good music until The Dodger game came on then they played the game audio (which all the fans appreciated). Sat in the bar area (not at the bar) and the bartenders were amazing. They kept checking on us and didn't seem annoyed at all when we still weren't sure what to order. Food: Wings and sliders were both good. Sliders better than wings if you only have room for one. Food came out fast and fresh. We stuck to the e happy hour menu but I'd bet their regular menu items are tasty as well. Drinks: Stuck to beer and they have a great selection. If you like Pliney they always have The Elder and The Younger on tap. If you're not sure what to get you can make your own flight! One bartender said they come in 6 but the trays hold 4 each, so might as well get 8!

Unfortunately this place has closed as of July 2026…read more Progress was an amazing brewery in South El Monte. Progress felt like home and the owners made you feel like you were hanging out in someone's backyard bar. Besides seeing someone piss themselves on a chair I never saw anything negative here. They would roll out the big screen and the place would be full of fans cheering. It terrible seeing this progress close. There is going to be a big hole left in South El Monte community. I hope the brewery cat finds a nice home!

Each sip has layers -- a gentle sweetness, a slow-building spice, and the kind of depth that tells you someone spent hours coaxing flavor out of bones and aromatics. The noodles are thick and satisfyingly chewy, perfect for catching the broth. The slices of beef shank, brisket, and sometimes tender pork hock add hearty richness, while the chả Huế brings that peppery snap. A squeeze of lime brightens everything, and the fresh herbs -- especially rau răm -- give each bite a fragrant lift.
