Brown patches throughout freshly laid sod.
    Jason A.

Sod was delivered a week too early. Landscaper installed sod a week later. The sod has brown patches throughout. I notified customer service. She asked me to email pictures of the brown patches. I did. Never heard back from company. Would not recommend.

The ice cream is New Zealand style soft serve, which is jam packed with fruit. I tried the blueberry basil which was absolutely delicious. They also offer other more traditional style ice cream like cookies and cream. The nice little touch they add is putting biscoff cookie or other cookie with every scoop. The cute store is worth a peruse to look at cook books, plants, and other perfect giftables! And save some time to look at the farm animals. There's a herd of friendly alpacas, a coop of chickens (and a free roaming rooster) and even some goats. The animals are so cute and friendly! I will say the parking lots get kind of full, but there's definitely a good amount of spots. You might just need to be a little patient.

The ice cream is made to order and there is a variety of beverages to purchase. There are also locally made popsicles. I wish there were more food options. They have snacks but if you are hungry I would recommend grabbing a bite somewhere before heading here.

I was hoping to see…read moreif they had any advice on keeping the tiny guy happy, as he hadn't come with any care instructions. The shop assistant was friendly and offered to swap out the soil. I was buying a plastic pot and asked if she would do the same for a 4" jade plant I had in the car. When I went to pay, I was shocked that the bill came to $25. The repottings were $8 each! I've never heard of a plant store that wouldn't be willing to add a tablespoon of soil to their own plant, and usually if you're buying a pot, most places will put a plant in it for you. At a minimum, they should let you know the fees upfront instead of a breezy, misleading "I'm happy to switch out the soil if you'd like." I offered to buy a $17 bag of potting soil if they would comp the repotting fees, but they were adamant about the $16 needed to cover "materials and labor". In the end, the manager comped the tablespoon of soil added to the 2" plant (again: this plant was from their own shop). The shop assistant then removed the new soil from the jade plant, leaving the stems loosely dumped in the pot I bought from them. As a plant lover, I can't imagine doing this to a plant just to reclaim a cup of potting soil! Such a weird and unpleasant experience. [Hearing this story, nearby Copperline Plant Company repotted the jade for free, without my asking and even before I had purchased anything from them. Their policy is that anything that takes under five minutes to repot is free. Logan's Garden Shop said they'd be happy to repot a plant into a pot I'd bought from them. This has always been my experience, and I'm happy to see that it's still the norm at most places.] I did get a cute snake plant here on an earlier visit. The shop is laid out nicely for a fun browsing experience, and plants are healthy. Just know their repotting fees are steep!

I've bought things from soil test kits to bags of compost to germination set-ups to seeds (so many seeds). They have AISLES worth of various fertilizers and insect sprays. They even host a variety of workshops, which I highly recommend to anyone showing a friend around Raleigh. You do pay more for their products than you would on, say, Amazon, but that's the nature of any garden shop this close to downtown. Worth it for the quality, convenience, and supporting local. Also, shout-out to the staff who are so helpful and friendly every time.

If you're thinking of going hydroponic, buy as little as possible from 5th season - you can get air pumps and air stones at 1/4 the price at a pet store. They are only interested in getting product out the door, NOT in selling customers the products they need. I've been stuck with ballasts and lights that did not work as promised, and there return policy is NO RETURNS. Once I bought a light bulb, telling the sales person I was unsure if the size war right, I was assured I could check and return it to get a refund if I did it right away. Back in the store 1 hour later, the manager was wagging his finger and saying "No returns", leaving me stuck with merchandise I could not use. If you can, order online from someplace else, buy as little as possible from these thieves!
