It's a skating rink. Not much more to it. It's fun and enjoyable. They play music while you skate and they have food options.

Got my phone stolen from super skate. Left it on the table to go use the bathroom, came out and it was gone.

Cedar Rapids Ice Arena - on the ice

    Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

Came here for a hockey tournament with my son and the family. It's a relatively well managed arena…read morewith two ice surfaces and plenty of locker rooms. The majority of the public will probably come here to see a USHL hockey game, but the facility also has a wide range of other activities ranging from learn to skate, youth hockey, men's amateur hockey and open skating (some even with DJs). There are food options here, but they are almost all terrible - it's basically what you would find at a high school football or basketball game - it's nachos, re-heated burgers and hot dogs... There is a bar here, and you can drink during the Rough Riders (USHL) games. I don't think the bar is open during other events unless otherwise advertised. The locker rooms and the rest of the facility are relatively clean and in reasonable repair. The seats in the NHL rink are super comfortable if you are a spectator. The Olympic rink only has metal benches, but you can stand in the mezzanine to watch games as well. My favorite part of the rink is that one of the ice surfaces is an Olympic size ice rink, so it's wider than the standard NHL dimensions. It's fun to play on, and not something you see everyday. Overall, it's one of the nicer facilities in Iowa. Unfortunately, that is not a very high bar.

Keep your eye open for promo nights and BOGO (buy one, get one nights) on tickets and/or food. Suites are available, too. Facility is nice and clean. The games are really fast paced and entertaining, but we haven't yet seen a win. Tickets are relatively affordable and there's a good chance you could sit somewhere better if you sneak around lol. They get ya on the snacks though $$. Bathrooms are a little janky and you can expect a line. Standard good time sports outing for a winter evening in CR.

A Roughriders game is still one of the most fun things you can experience in Cedar Rapids (or the…read moreentire Corridor for that matter) during the winter months. If you've never seen a hockey game, or you're just looking for something different to do, I highly recommend visiting. I've always loved that CR has been home to minor league sports teams for so many years. We're lucky. Uber family-friendly atmosphere. Roughriders ticket prices have increased by several $'s since my last review in 2014, but those extra dollars are worth it. I believe there are six different ticket price points now ($13-$25), and if you're really into hockey you may even consider season tickets. Roughriders season ticket holders are a hoot...I always seem to be seated next to them. :) From what I saw, staffing has definitely decreased over the years. I didn't notice any employees except for those scanning tickets, working in the concessions stands and those manning various booths along the concourse. Back in the day (10+ years) they used to have ushers that would help you find your seats. I don't know if these ushers were volunteers from the Roughriders booster group or if they were actually paid, but it was SO nice to have them there. Within the next 5 years or so the seating in the ice area might need to be evaluated (in the very least all seats could all use a deep clean). There is very little leg room and no cup holders. I saw many patrons using the seats as steps to get from one row to the next. Yikes. Talk about wear and tear. I also agree with another Yelper's statement (see Cedar Rapids Ice Arena reviews) that if you're paying for premium seats it would be nice to see the plexiglass cleaned more regularly. Also, the men I was with stated that the men's room near sections L & N was absolutely rank. After I heard this I opted not to use the ladies room. Concessions: stick with the cheese curds. They desperately need a new soft pretzel supplier. Bar: above average selection of beer, etc. available. Expect arena prices on all food and drink. Overall, 5/5 stars. You won't have perfection across the board given how many guests go through here on a nightly basis. Expect to spend at least $50-$100 per couple (dependent upon ticket prices, drinks/food). Parking is free! Recommend.

The Coral Ridge Ice Arena is a Coralville staple. It's been around since I was in elementary school…read more(1998, wowza) and I've celebrated many a birthday here. Fast forward to now, I've had the pleasure of watching my kiddos take ice skating lessons here! You really can't beat the location-- it lives just off the food court in the Coral Ridge Mall. Pricing seems to be standard (you're looking at about $10 a time with admission and skate rental). Check their website for public skate-- it's offered daily but differs day to day from mornings to afternoons to evenings. Learn to Skate is available for literally anyone-- age 3 and up, all levels! It runs you about $120 a session-- that ends up being about 8 sessions? So with the instruction you are receiving plus the skate rental and two free admissions/skate passes they throw in I feel like it's fairly priced. Learn to Skate classes are Tuesdays or Saturdays. My kiddos started white knuckling on the side and now can zoom on the ice (though there is still much room for improvement). I found the instructors to be insanely patient and kind. The staff was responsive and knowledgable. Overall, Coral Ridge Ice Arena is a great spot to celebrate a birthday, learn to skate or just people watch as you enjoy the food court.

I expected this, but I was shocked that there wasn't anyone in a position of authority patrolling the ice given the number of customers. No one directing the flow of skating, no one telling the slower skaters to hug the wall rather than stand in the middle of the rink. Our experience was fine, but the customer service is crappy at best. All of the little helper aids for kids who need assistance on the ice were loaned out (to some pretty big kids who obviously didn't need them), so the littlest one in our group was too unsteady to skate even with an adult helping him. We got to watch the Zamboni clean the ice, so that was fun. Around 2:30 they made an announcement asking everyone to get off the ice -- kind of a pain when the rink had just opened an hour before. Recommend because there's nothing else like it in the area. Just expect to have to navigate crowds and the fact that you make not get skates in your size.
