I know this place has had controversy with the LGBTQ+ community in the past. However, for the last year a small group of friends and I have been meeting for an unofficial trans/queer skating night here every Thursday, and the staff has never been anything but friendly and respectful to us. Even the older men we see there every week have been very helpful in providing tips to our new skaters, and I like the sense of community found here. It's a skating rink. Not much more to it. It's fun and enjoyable. They play music while you skate and they have food options.

The most important thing factoring into my score is that my kids LOVE going to Super Skate! The staff are all friendly and welcoming; the admission and skate rental costs are VERY reasonable; there is an option for food & drinks, but close enough to many other restaurants and the mall; it attracts a diverse clientele- skating is fun for everyone! Place is sketchy and I tripped and spilled my drink and they wouldn't give me a refill!! I would not recommend coming here but it is the only skate arena in Iowa so I'm gonna have to learn to ice skate and go ice skating instead this place is crusty musty dusty and kinda rusty the food is over priced and not good. The urinals have pubic hairs on them and I feel like I'm gonna get aids if I touch anything in there. Also I think the people who work there live there so there's personal stuff all over the place seriously fix your hoarding. Also get new skates all of them are either broke or just straight up nasty and how are you gonna have fun when your skates are broke. And having carpet is a stupid idea there is mold everywhere I don't feel safe there fix your place!! read more

Got my phone stolen from super skate. Left it on the table to go use the bathroom, came out and it was gone.

Trashy place. Dirty and horrible. Haven't updated since I was a kid 20 years ago. Bathrooms smell like piss, food is decent, reasonably priced and group games are fun. Needs a make over badly. Monopolized by the only skating rink left in CR. I miss Skate Country, does that date me? In need of renovation badly. At least up keep. No more duct tape on rink floor. Needs fresh paint... everywhere. Remove ALL the carpet, would be better just as concrete (its prob the original soiled and soda soaked carpet). Re-surface the benches. Dust. Working bathrooms or water fountains? Remove all the ceiling tile and just paint matte black, would be so much more open. Lights and speakers need updated. I can go on and on. I know this is a family ran biz, and the building and insurance is pricey and all. But, if you want to keep patrons (besides punk kids that think they own the rink and you need to watch out for them, and your lil kids), just start out with some minor updates and managed up-keep. Price gets way to much to bring a family out for what you get in return. There should be family passes or packages, or punch card, or something. If they want more biz, they also need to give discounts to the Rollergirls and families to come out. Knowing that they skate there alone will bring out more people just to "skate with them" at leisure. And don't get me wrong, the owners and staff are cordial, but just need to be more open and accommodating and if they really 'invested' more into the place (not just money), there would be major improvements and more people. All in all... still a place to skate and in the winter or bad days. Just be prepared for $$, kids, punks (with bad attitudes and mouths), run down facilities, and a slim snack bar that costs (snack bars should be more, but within reason to what you get too). I have my hopes up for Super Skate, and wish it all the best. I'll still patron it... but would encourage more to voice their opinion to slowly start to renovate this establishment. read more

These people are major hoarders. I'm pretty sure there is boxes in the air duct when you first walk in. No more kids rink it's filled with shit. There's crap every where. There's a weird apartment area or something by the concessions area. read more

My experiences here are always amazing. The employees have been nothing but friendly each time I'm there, and the place feels very homey. Not only that but the regulars there are so welcoming and kind, making the experience that much better. I love this establishment so much that I quite literally spent 26 hours there last month. I have to agree with Sean W. I used to go to SS years ago in my youth, and I swear nothing has hardly changed there at all, 25 years of neglect is definitely evident. Unfortunately it appears as if the previous owner(s) never tried to bring it out of the 80s. It has so much potential if some effort would be put into it. The sound, lights, rental skates, carpet, everything need to be updated badly. The food is average to poor and priced slightly above average, not a great deal. It appears to be a family run business, maybe that why is seems very carnie to me. I felt bad for my daughter when we visited last year, Aug 2011. The SS I remembered was fairly good. Granted it was not as good as the Skate Country across town, but it could hold its own at that time and was a fun afternoon for us kids. Now, years later as I visit with my children, I can't help but feel a huge sense of loss for a place I grew up in and had such good memories hanging out. I wish she could experience the rink like I did years ago. I know that today it is probably much tougher to run a place such as this, but letting it get to such a poor point as this is just a shame. I not going to sugar-coat it, the place needs a decent amount money and enthusiasm put into it to bring it back. It really could be a great place for kids, families, etc to go and have a good time again ... someday, but not if someone isn't willing to put any effort into it instead of just bleeding what they can out it. Why just bleed it when you could probably make real money from it? I'm not sure why they don't since it really is the only rink around besides one in DM, Dubuque, or a small one in Vinton. To the Owner: make it great again. Rebuild it and they will come... Offer some specials, get some advertising, fix it up and get the word out there and I think you may be surprised. And above all else: update, update, UPDATE! My daughter still wants to skate, so we will still visit on occasion. I would love to see improvements though, that would make me want to come back. read more

I grew up here every Friday and Saturday nights for both sessions during the 80's. I took my daughter and my nephews a couple of years ago. i was shocked at how much it has fallen in to disaray. It is in need of a major face lift. The floors have duct tape on them. The game room and the upper snack bar area is now some kind of storage area for Junk.The floors, bathrooms, lighting and sound are all the same. No sign of ever an update. The speakers are the same since I was a kid. When the Dj booth still has a Reel To Reel tape player from the 70's still there it is time for an up date. If they would do some repairs and a fresh coat of paint and some advertising I think there could be some serious money made here again, but I think the same owner could care less now. I love Roller skating and the fun we had as kids there. It was a great way of excerise and have fun with your friends and meet new ones. I hope someone steps up and fixes this place up.. read more
