I played here as a kid and they really have made some great changes to the original four fields since! (I believe these were made around 2020- when the CR Reds baseball/softball organization took over this site.) The infields were completely redone and the back-stops were replaced with a 30' tall netting. There are new dugouts and the concession area was updated. Finally (while I think they should have added stalls) the restrooms are updated and clean. There's a playground area for the kids as well as batting cages. But the most impressive thing about Triple Play Park is the addition of Dinger Plaza. My 10U team played here this past weekend and what a nice field. It rained cats and dogs the night before, but you'd have never known that. These two new fields are geared toward younger teams and I think they're a great size-- home runs are possible for a ten year old which is crazy. (My only qualm is how close the backstop is to home.) There's plenty of parking. It's continently across the street from Casey's and down the street from Edith Lucielle's Bait Shack & Wing Depot. I like playing closer to home but if I need to make the drive to CR-- I hope it's to Triple Play Park!

This field is top notch, by the way. :) Moving on is the concession stand and restrooms. Restrooms are small and have 2 stalls, but clean. There are several youth baseball and softball fields. The fields are well kept. Most of the fields have bleachers, however we typically bring our own chairs. Directly behind the baseball/softball fields are the youth soccer and football fields. Bring your own chairs for soccer and football games. Although there is a LARGE parking area, parking can be tight and/or non existent when all of the youth sports are happening. SRNA also has a tennis court, basketball hoops, and sand volleyball. The final building is the Timber Dome Lodge, which deserves it's own review. The Lake Macbride Trail starts here, which is a beautiful 5 mile trail into Lake Macbride State Park. Around the entire complex is a walking or biking trail. There are a couple of ponds used for wildlife conservation. The City of Solon does a great job of maintaining this area!

There is also a playground area, batting cages, bocce courts(!), and a pond with a trail. You'll often see someone fishing along the side of the pond (by a gazebo), lots of walkers and joggers, and the many parents and children using the fields. For those attending sporting events, there is a small concession stand and indoor bathrooms as well. Parking is plentiful. My main interaction with the park is from many walks around the trail or biking through as it connects to the larger bike trail system, and it's ideal for both! It's a wonderful place for a stroll in the evening to unwind from the day.

What a wonderful sports park!…read more As an Iowa City native, I was shocked to know this existed. It is less than five years old. This review is only based on the youth soccer fields at this park. My kiddos have done Tiny Tot soccer here multiple seasons-- in the spring, summer and fall. I love that the complex is easy to navigate, I adore that there are indoor bathrooms and that the parking is plentiful! There are nine well maintained youth soccer fields (which I think turns into three full-size soccer fields?) It also can host flag football. I've peeped the ball fields, there are five. Batting cages live here! The pavilion is nice, with shade. It appears to connect to some trails in the neighborhood? There are couple shelters, too. Coralville Youth Sports Park checks all the boxes. While it isn't SUPER convenient for us Iowa City residents to drive to, it is a perfect location for anyone in Coralville/North Liberty! What a great addition that was much needed.

Going to Modern Woodmen Park is a must for any baseball fan. It is one of the oldest parks in the nation. Many MLB stars got their careers started here in Davenport, Iowa. This family friendly stadium offers a wide variety of entertainment for the whole family. If the great game of baseball isn't for you, check out the different amusement rides. The Ferris wheel is huge and gives spectators a glimpse of the field and mighty Mississippi River. The concessions have many great foods and drinks to purchase at reasonable prices. You won't go broke here like at a MLB stadium. Where else can you watch a baseball game, see river boats cruise the river, and hear trains fly down the tracks? Modern Woodmen Stadium is the answer.

On one side is a bridge and another side, an amusement park with Ferris wheel and merry go round. I walked around a lot. The layout is graded up high, as you had to walk 20 steps up to it. The reason 4/5 stars is lack of good concessions. A couple of places such as a Mexican grill weren't open. The line for this one grill was insanely long the whole night. The Whiteys ice-cream did not have malt cups, supposedly sold out the night before. Piss poor planning for a crowd. I settled for Cheesesteak nachos without onions and peppers in a helmet. Also shared a chip witch or chocolate chip cookie with ice-cream between it. The stadium was really iconic and cool. The Ferris wheel lit up at night. Fross Park is a great amenity for Center Point!…read more It's on the northern end of Center Point just off of Main Street and alongside the HUGE cemetery. I was in town for a softball tournament this past weekend. My biggest issue was there were just two stalls available-- there was quite a line. Otherwise the fields were well maintained and there was shade throughout. No complaints here! This gem boasts: a basketball court, disc golf course, multiple playgrounds, pavilions (that are rentable), a super cool sand volleyball court, skate park, soccer fields, tennis court and a very nice walking trail that's 1.2 miles. Fross Park also offers a plethora of parking. Overall, while Center Point is a bit of a drive for us-- I won't be mad the next time my daughter plays at Fross Park! It's fabulous.

Field of Dreams was my birthday gift to myself, and it was worth every mile getting there!…read more We drove nearly six hours from Kansas City to Dyersville specifically so I could finally visit this place. I first saw Field of Dreams in 1989, and the movie has stayed with me ever since. When we arrived, we were asked if we'd consider donating $20 toward the upkeep of the field. I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough. Keeping a place like this available for people to experience is absolutely worth supporting. Seeing the farmhouse, wooden bleachers and baseball diamond surrounded by Iowa corn was almost surreal. The best part is that you're not just standing behind a rope looking at everything. I walked onto the field, through the outfield grass, into the corn and then back out again. I sat in the bleachers with our dog Gus and even got to hold a bat and imagine standing at the plate. For me, there was also a very personal connection. I never got to play catch with my father, which is probably one reason the ending of this movie has always affected me so deeply. Standing on that field brought back emotions I wasn't expecting. For a little while, I wasn't thinking about being 68 years old. I was thinking about being that kid who loved baseball and wondering, "What if?" We unfortunately missed the farmhouse tour by just a few minutes. The next tour was an hour later, and with another three-hour drive to Des Moines ahead of us, we couldn't wait. That's my only regret from the visit, and certainly not the Field of Dreams' fault. There is also a nice visitor area with memorabilia, displays and souvenirs. Baseball and movie fans will find plenty to look at. My advice: don't rush this place. Walk onto the field. Sit in the bleachers. Walk into the corn. Take your pictures, but put the phone away for a few minutes too and just look around. Way out in the middle of Iowa sits a baseball field made famous by a movie more than three decades ago. For some people, it will simply be a cool movie location. For me, it was something much more. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday gift to myself. Absolutely worth the trip.

I watched the movie countless times as a kid when it first came out, and recently introduced my…read more11-year-old son to it. While roadtripping across the United States, I knew I wanted to add this to our list of places to stop. We were not disappointed! It's a lovely drive amongst the cornfields to get to the site. We came on a Tuesday in August and it wasn't crowded at all. Plenty of parking. $20 suggested donation to enter. They provide bats and balls and gloves and anyone can go out on the field for a catch or to bat, or run the bases. Lots of families around playing on the field. They even had a "ghost player" dressed in a 1919 era uniform to pose for pictures. You can take a tour of the farm house for an added price, though we didn't do this part. They have a snack stand next to the field and a full restaurant next to the farm house if you get hungry, both of which serve alcohol. I guess the only downside is how wildly commercialized the whole site has become. A gigantic gift shop, the aforementioned restaurant, and an indoor event space all overshadow the much smaller farm house, and the massive stadium built for MLB's annual game looms over the left field fence. But the magic is still there. The magic of the most perfect baseball movie ever made, transposed into the modern era in the form of families spending time together in a heaven made of sunny Iowa cornfields.
