I saved several months to buy the chain for over $400 and the gold charm that hangs on it I paid over $300 for (separate, reputable jewelers) Before taking it in I take the time to clean the item and finish it off with a polishing cloth. I only needed $75 but why take the chance. I had pawned a few things at this place before and *always redeemed them. ie, I always go back and get my stuff and it works ok for what it is. I get some money up front, they make a nice profit at the end. I've done it enough times over the years I can tell the man behind the counter recognizes me (it's always the same guy). Not suggesting we know each other's names, but I'm a good, repeat customer let's say Long story long he says he can do $30. No missing a zero. Thirty dollars for a $700+ necklace. I get that it isnt brand new (maybe 3 yrs old) and that gold prices rise and fall or whatever but to lowball like that, even if I was some jerk (which I'm not) I dont like the idea that someone I'm taking my business to would do such a thing to such an outrageous degree just because they think they can. They were open about their process for evaluation, and even discussed possible pricing for some additional future sales I am considering. I could not recommend this establishment, and its proprietors, more strongly. Just excellent. One more thing: I found that this is a generationally family-owned business, of which there are exceedingly fewer and fewer these days. Supporting them, as opposed to their franchised competitors (one of which is mere feet away in the same shopping mall), is important. The employee offered to show me items, but I declined and said I was looking. She then let me know that she will gladly show me anything, just her know. Wow! What customer service! We ended up finding brand new Craftsman ratcheting heads. Brand spanking new and for $20 for each set (metric and English), I was super excited. Because they were priced so nicely, they wouldn't budge on pricing. When we inquired about a military discount for my boyfriend, they offered to not charge us tax. Well, that was a $3.44 discount. We'll take it. All the employees here are so pleasant, nice, and helpful!! Wonderful place to shop!
