This place is the best they have a lot of Nicaragua products The owners are the bomb Just walking and gives me good feel good I really enjoy this Nica market I buy is much as I can

The market part is great but the women working the restaurant part of the store are some what rude. I bought a pitaya drink that didn't taste like pitaya at all so I asked if I could exchange it for another drink. They did exchange it but they sure gave me hard time. They asked me if I tasted it - Yes how else would I know that it didn't taste like pitaya?! Then being told that I should've asked for a sample. That this is the only time that they would exchange a drink...so after being reprimanded like a child as I'm walking away with my new drink. I hear them saying "I filled that cup to the very top." Like if I drank half of it and tried returning it. I took two sips by no means was it empty. I also had the baho and it wasn't very good. I would not get it again. The cacao drink was good.

En ingles- (yo no puede escribir en Espanol bien) , entonces, ingles!…read more The food here is awesome! Our family is half Nicaraguan and half German-Spanish. We grew up eating grandma's Nicaraguan dinners and this is as close as you'll find to five star fabulously prepared Nicaragua meals. I ordered my favorite, which is Lengua con tomates y gallo Pinto. It's sooo good. My mom ordered pescado, my gringa wife ordered pollo y carne, and my brother ordered steak con maduros, Fritos y papas.... They even have cacao y pinol. All sandy n grainy like grandma made. We have been to the few other Nicaraguan restaurants around. One over by Loyola high school off Olympic, funky location, difficult to get into. The Gallo Pinto in Azusa, which is an easier location to get into with a mix of Nicaraguan and Mexican food. And now we have found this location. And after enjoying all three, I will tell you that this food wise and service wise is the most authentic and flavorful choice. It is five star of Nicaragua food preparation. The only drawback is it's location, nothing you could do about that. My mom's in a wheelchair makes it a little bit challenging to get in because it's not ADA friendly. So plan ahead, use the bathroom before you get there. And be ready for one of the best Nicaragua dinners in the greater Los Angeles area.

The counter sells various goods and clothing. Costillas de cerdo frito: The pork ribs are sliced horizontally so there are round sections of bone in the long strips of crispy flavorful meat. Gallo pinto is at the core of the plate with red beans and rice cooked together with onions. The rice is firm and buttery. The beans are tender. You can also have them served separately. The fried plantains are sweet and caramelized on the outside with soft centers. The rest of the plate seems covered in a hill of crispy thin plantain chips. There's a triangle of fried cheese - tart, firm, and crumbly. Take the pitcher on the table and pour out some of the hot sauce. It is packed with diced pickled onions with a vinegary sauce. Nacatamales: This giant tamal is a breakfast staple typically served with a caffeinated beverage (like coffee or Coke). After unwrapping the banana leaf wrapper, the masa has an orange tint from the achiote paste. The masa is moist, soft, and gooey. Embedded in the huge masa is a grocery list of ingredients, including olives, bell peppers, rice, pork, onions, raisins, tomatoes, and potatoes. It also comes with a big soft fluffy bread roll. Parking: There is street parking.

Ordered gallo pinto (small) and nacatamal, both served in generous portions (enough for leftovers). Both were really tasty, hearty and flavorful. No frills, but I enjoyed them. Not expensive at all, totaling just under $15 that gave me two meals! Definitely try Nicaraguan food in your lifetime!

However, my biggest disappointment was the chicharrón ( nothing but inflated air ) It tasted store-bought instead of fresh and authentic, which was surprising for a restaurant representing Nicaraguan cuisine. That was honestly the only major issue with our visit. Everything else was good, but authentic, freshly made chicharrón would make a huge difference and better match the quality of the rest of the food. I hope this is something the restaurant can improve on because the potential is definitely there.

He estado queriendo esto por un tiempo, pero sus colas son tan largas de viernes a domingo porque su comida es muy buena. ¡Sus porciones son enormes! Inside was quite small and doesn't have too much seating. Don't come here if you're in a hurry because food takes awhile. My group of 5 waited ~20 min for our food after ordering. The restaurant can be easily missed since it is a little hidden and it seems like they keep the doors locked because of all the chaos happening lately. Menu had a good variety of meat and seafood dishes. Pricing was reasonable and most of the dishes were ~$20+. Portions are HUGE so make sure to come with a big appetite! Service was very friendly and welcoming Got #9 (Fritanga) - $20.50 and it came with gallo pinto (rice and beans), arroz blanco (white rice), carne asada (grilled meat), tajada frita (fried sliced green plantain), platano frito (fried ripe plantain), maduros (sweet plantain), yuca, queso frito (fried cheese), tortilla and cabbage salad. The Gallo pinto was a little dry and could use a little more seasoning but it was still pretty good. The carne asada was quite flavorful and would have been better if it was more tender. The fried plantains were amazing and super sweet! The fried cheese was interesting and so delicious! The cabbage salad reminded me of a coleslaw so it was nothing special. Overall, I really enjoyed how much food was given and most of the items were very good! This was 8/10 The Maracuya (Passionfruit) drink ($7.50) was way too sweet that I had to add water so that it would be less sweet. I didn't enjoy this and it didn't taste fresh so this was 5/10 Would definitely recommend and return

It was my very first experience with Nicaraguan food, and I was honestly blown away. The nacatamales were huge, incredibly flavorful, and so good that we took about 20 home with us. I'm half Mexican and will confidently say: I actually prefer these over Mexican tamales. That first visit set the bar high, and I'm happy to say it's stayed consistent. We came back again last month to do the same thing--nacatamales and lunch--and once again, everything was delicious. This time, I ordered the caldo de res, which was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. My boyfriend ordered a plate with gallo pinto, and we each had a nacatamal while dining in. It was so much food--we were absolutely stuffed and even took some of the leftover caldo to go. For drinks, I always get the cacao, and my boyfriend gets the pitaya drink. Both are excellent--perfectly balanced, not overly sweet, and you can really taste that they're made without artificial sweeteners. Everything tastes fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The atmosphere is warm and lively. There was a man playing the keyboard and singing, families dining together, and the place was pretty busy, which added to the charm. Every time we've come here, the service has been incredibly kind and welcoming. Beyond the food, this place genuinely makes me feel closer to my boyfriend's background and culture, and that means a lot to me. Parking hasn't been an issue, prices are very reasonable for the portions, and I truly can't say enough good things. Consistently great food, warm people, and an experience that feels both comforting and special. We'll absolutely keep coming back.
