Was told a 25 minute wait for a buzz cut, okay not too bad. Wrote my name down on a list and only two people above me. Over an hour later the receptionist said she was "super confused" and did not know who was in line or how to read the list that was only 4 names long. She brought someone else not even on the list back and then determined there was still one person ahead of my name on the list. Waited another 10 minutes and watched another stylist pull someone over from the barbershop for a cut. Didn't feel very confident in this run down salon that was managed by someone who couldn't even handle a 4 person list. Do you like to play Russian Roulette? Well, come on in to Super Mario Salon, where you never know WHAT you're gonna get!! You'll either walk out with something that approaches a normal-looking haircut, or you'll look like a you let some coked-up maniac go at your head with a pair of garden shears. I used to be a regular here. There was a stylist that I really liked. She did a wonderful job, and the price was right. I liked her so much that I brought my little kids in, so she could do THEIR haircuts. We were good to go. Unfortunately, that was years ago. That stylist has moved on to bigger and better things. I think she owns a flower shop now. I tried to give one of the other stylists a try, but after one cut, I knew it wouldn't work out for me anymore. Today, because it was convenient, I brought my twin 13-year-old boys in. They've been growing their hair out for months. They looked like homeless people. I told them that I didn't care if they grew their hair out. They could have it as long or short as they wanted, but please, let's at least get a trim and tidy things up. I left the specifics up to my boys. The only instructions that I gave to the two stylists: "Whatever length they want -- just trim it up and make it neat." Ten minutes passed. One kid finished up, and I could barely tell that his hair had been cut at all. It was the same length. There was just less of it. OK, fine. The other's guy's bangs looked like they'd been hacked at with a boxcutter. They were incredibly short compared to the rest of his hair. Absolutely zero technique. She had just snipped at him, like she was pruning a banzai tree. It's the kind of haircut that I'd expect for free, from a cosmetology student who was just learning. I asked my son if he was OK with it, and I think he just wanted to get the hell out of there. At least there's another week before school starts. With some strategic styling and/or products, he'll probably be OK. 2 stars, only because I have fond memories of a better time. Don't come here if you need a sure-fire DECENT haircut. However, if you like living on the edge, Super Mario might be right up your alley. read more

According to some of my friends who have had similar experiences, this place is a hit or a miss. The hair stylists all have a differing levels of skill. Male Haircut. It was done in five minutes. For something important as a haircut to impress, I think there should have been at least more thought put into my haircut. I gave directions to cut my hair, and they did just that. My hair was chopped off in a crude manner. Very uneven and very haphazardly. After being shown the front and back of my head, it was apparent that she gave me a bowl cut. I was terrified when she said she was almost done. When the stylist asked me if there was anything else she could do, I said, "Nope," got out of my chair to the register, paid and left. I did not want anyone in there to touch my hair. Generally, I get my haircuts at a local cosmetology school. They use an array of scissors to style and blend my hair. I was expecting this when the tools were displayed in front of me when I sat down in my seat at Super Mario. Nope. The lady who cut my hair just used one pair of scissors, and an electric razor to do minimal trimming and such. I had to get my haircut fixed elsewhere. I'm someone who isn't very picky about my how my hair looks, but I know something is wrong when the time it takes for a haircut session to finish is equivalent to the time it takes to microwave a frozen dinner. read more

Even though there was no wait, the "stylist" (Dawn) was quick, and it only cost $10 (which I later got refunded)...it is NOT WORTH IT!!! My haircut was the worst EVER! Very uneven. She didn't pay much attention to what she was doing. She was more interested in the complaining that other stylists were making about working there. Got home and my wife, who is generally a very positive person, just couldn't believe it. "You can't be seen in public with that cut!" To top it all off...Ient back later in the day to get my money back. The owner was very rude and said that if I wouldn't let another of their stylists fix my hair, then I was "not welcome in their shop any longer!" (As if I would ever come back? Ha!) Very poor customer service. No apology was given! Found out later from neighbors that they, too, had bad experiences at "Super"? Mario. For $5 more, I went upstairs to Unisex Hair Palace and got the botched job fixed. Great service! Professionally handled. And my stylist did a great job!! read more

I had my eyebrows done here. The woman claimed that my hair could not be removed because I have oily skin but repeated to use the wax strips on the same spot leaving a huge red, burnt area above my eye. I called asking for a refund or suggestions to lessen the burning and they said they could not help me and it was probably an allergic reaction. It is not an allergic reaction my skin was ripped off and alcohol was used to "soothe" it. Would not recommend at all. read more

I get my brows done here. They offer threading which I prefer over waxing since my skin is sensitive. It is only $7 and they do a great job. They shape and trim my brows and it usually lasts for about a month with a little tweezing in between. The only downside is the decor of the place. It could use some updating. read more

Super Mario's is a great Shop to get your hair cut. It has some of the best Barbers and Stylists that you will ever meet. The service and the hair cuts were well worth the ten dollars and it came out fantastic. I love the way they cut my hair read more

I actually had a great experience. I went in there not knowing what I wanted to do but I knew I wanted color and lots of it and I was there for 2 hours while 2 girls were helping. By the time we were done I looked like a million bucks (at the cost of 179.00) it was well worth the price. Now I recently went it and they are the only business I know of around here that NOW does threading!!! and guess what? for only 7bucks a pop!! there are 2 women who do threading and are both very nice. Just be sure to call ahead of time to set an appt because they are very busy. The only drab about it is the decor of the salon. Tulios is in the mall too but looks a lot more professional then Super Marios. Other then that I would recommend this salon. Ask for Elsa!! read more

Brought my daughter here for her bangs to be trimmed. She is 2 1/2 and was utterly terrified. Shannon was absolutely AMAZING with her. She was incredibly sweet and patient and made sure my daughter was completely comfortable, and then expertly trimmed her bangs. My daughter has very curly hair and Shannon made sure to explain how and why to have her bangs trimmed the specific way she was cutting them. What a wonderful experience for her first time. The guys here are great, and I'll continue to go back to Frankie for my cuts on a weekly basis. With that being said, the woman named Towha (spelling) that finds it necessary to start arguments with co-workers while clients are in their chairs, and waiting to get haircuts is absolutely one of the most UNPROFESSIONAL individuals I have ever seen in the service industry. I have been going in to get my cut weekly for the past couple of years, and her antics are common place each visit. I would recommend that you wait for or request ANYONE other than her if you come in for a haircut. The wait will be worth not having to listen to her antics in your ear as you get what should be a relaxing and professional haircut from great barbers. read more

Although I'm not one to do this, attention needs to brought to the matter: I went and got my hair done at Super Mario Beauty Salon and the end result was absolutely nothing I wanted. I showed the women a picture of exactly what I wanted and throughout the process my skin was burned with bleach, I was there for HOURS, and left without my hair even being completely finished. After returning home to rinse out the toner that turned my hair an awful color, my hair began to fall out in clumps and the skin on the back of my neck continued to burn. Although I had complained to the women that my skin was burning there was little to nothing she did about it. My scalp was burnt, my neck and ear were burnt, and my hair was completely NOT what I asked for. After panicking to fix it before a family event I had to go elsewhere to get it fixed. When I went to go in and talk to the highest person possible at super mario's, a stylist walked over in the middle of me explaining my horrible situation and basically told me to shut up & that nothing can be done about it & that I was being disrespectful towards her coworker. Overall, I have had the worst experience EVER and will NEVER be returning to Super Mario's - between the horrible service, the horrible customer service & management STILL not calling me back after I was told they would, my advice would be to find a different salon because the service and butchering of your locks is NOT worth the trouble. Definitely will never recommend to a friend. They've refused to do basically anything about it, no refund, not even half of my money back - just a gift card to a place where I never want to go again. I'm not sure how good the place is for women, but for you men, avoid it like the plague and go next door to the Super Mario Barber Shop. Finding a capable stylist is so very hard and after trying Super Mario I am super sure I still have not found that stylist. She barely asked me any questions about my hair, gave me a lousy 2 minute shampoo for thick, dense, long hair, my 2 inch trim is lopsided and uneven. When asked if I want a blow dry I replied yes to avoif walking around the mall with dripping wet hair. Told her I like to keep my natural curls and asked if she had a diffuser. She replied with a yes and proceeded to use it incorrectly. I told the receptionist they should let people know when someones not experienced before they sit in their chair and said stylist piped in with she's been doing this for 32 years. I was so shocked that she had the audacity to say that when I walked out of a hair salon with my hair looking Worse than when I walked in. Then another stylist jump out of her chair and approached the front desk like she wanted a confrontation with me! How unprofessional of this dump! NOT TO MENTION THE UTTER NASTINESS GOING ON. I usually go to Tulio's but I decided to take a chance and go to Super Mario because the prices were cheap, even for women's hair cuts. In this case I guess you get what you pay for, because this was one of the worst hair cuts I have ever gotten in my life. I would rather have paid them double as much to not cut my hair. Not a great experience. I knew the place would be busy on the Friday of a holiday weekend. I walked up to the person at the counter and asked if there was a wait for a haircut. She said absolutely not, walked away from me and left me standing there. When she did reappear she had to again say what did you need. I repeated my request for a haircut, and she went to tell the next available hairstylist, whom I never saw. The hairdresser started arguing with her about being next on the list for some thing larger I assume. This proceeded for 3 minutes while I stood there with 2 other hair dressers doing nothing. I started getting my hair cut with Towha two years ago when I walked in to get a previous hair cut corrected. My prior hair stylist did a horrible job on my hair. Towhee corrected the problem right away. Towha is great! She does a very professional job and takes pride in her work. As a woman, you know we are very picky about our hair. I also have my grandchildren and husband and son get their haircuts done with Towha. She is truly very good. I (we) highly recommend her. read more

I had the worst experience with my mother at this salon. Luckily for me I just wanted a trim so my hair turned out fine, but my mom wanted a cut and color. (The sign said cut&color for 40$. We should've known then that this wasn't going to end well.) Anyway she was seated to work with a guy name Justin. Granted it was his first day, but it was clear he had no idea how to do color since two other women had to help him with the process. My mom has a lot of gray so she need a full color and then wanted to do some highlights and low lights. That is not what happened at all. The three stylist pretty much just touched up her roots and did a poor job at that. She ended up having gray left in her bangs and a huge chunk of gray, dark brown and blonde left right by her part. Then he gave her the worst hair cut she has ever had. It looked NOTHING like the picture she provided. She ended up with the worst chunky unnatural looking layers I've ever seen. Fortunately, one of the women who was helping him with the color offered to fix her cut. It still was nothing like the picture, but it was much better than before. The original hair dresser didn't even apologize to my mom and acted like it was my moms fault she wasn't getting what she wanted. The salon was dirty. All of the chairs I sat on were stained with color and the bathroom was covered in hair from floor to ceiling. Even the hairdresser stations looked dirty and run down. On top of all of this they tried to charge my mom the entire 40$. We had to wait an hr and get dinner in the mall just so the manager could call my mom back and discuss the problem. Fortunately the manager was understanding and my mom just had to pay for the cut. I would never suggest going to this salon. Whether you're male or female avoid it at all costs. read more

This is the worst place to go to get your hair done. They messed up my hair badly, they got very rude and irate when I made a complaint. They advertise one price and charge you 2 times more. They told me to come back in a week and they would fix my hair for a fee, I think not! They also use dollar store products. a customer ahead of me complained because they advertised $12 for a hair cut and charged her $20 and didn't finish styling her hair because they didn't have the products to finish. This place is horrible. paid $70 for a cut and color( one color application and cut took 4 hours....)........The sign says $35 and up....how does it double without the hairstylist not notifying the customer??? She dyed my hair black and says don't worry it will wash out. I tell her I am not happy and she offers no services to fix it and moves on to her next customer (my hair was still wet). She dragged dye across the salon and I even found hair dye on my back, ears, arms, etc. I give her the benefit of the doubt and wait for the dye to wash out and I go back to complain again (after the irritation went down and hair felt strong enough to dye again) and I am informed that I waited too long......I didn't know there was a time limit because this is the first time I am this upset with someone doing my hair. read more

Came in on a very busy day to get a color and some highlights done. I was brought in instantly without any wait. The original quote was $80 which I was willing to pay no problem since I know it would be expensive for a two step process. The women that did my hair was beyond sweet and very kind. At the end I was very satisfied it came out amazing and when I went to pay I was told the price was brought down to $70 (I paid the extra $10 for a tip because I was very satisfied). The salon itself is a little beat up but that doesn't speak for the service and the people inside and it's not fair to judge based solely on the look of the place since that's not what I'm paying for after all. All in all I highly recommend this place as far as coloring goes because I can't speak for the other areas since I didn't get it done. I had been paying BIG bucks at other salons for that "bang up" hair cut and color. I'd have to save up for it but often the prices exceeded $300 for a cut and color. Unfortunately no "Bang" at all. In most cases friends could barely tell I had anything done. Then one day I'm walking by Super Mario's & I see this stylist with the coolest cut & color so I walk in & ask the front desk clerk who does her hair? She told me Elsa so I immediately made an appt with her. Well site unseen can result in anything so when Elsa walks up to me with purple spiked hair I'm thinking God what have I gotten myself into. But she knew her stuff & I entrusted my hair completely to her. I walked out of there with the most impressive cut & color EVER! Noticible? You Bet! Unfortunately that was the last time I was to see Elsa as she moved out West but she told me I should try the gal whose hair I had noticed in the 1st place. Her name is Ann & I have been seeing Ann ever since. She great - this perky cute little thing whom Super Mario's s/b super happy to have. I've sent many customers to her since & all have been very happy. And, the prices for anywhere from 3-5 colors & a cut = around $125 plus tip. A far cry from the over $300 at other salons. I can't speak for the other stylists but I do recommend Ann. Yes the decor is crappy & don't wear anything nice when you go in but what matters is how you look when you leave & I'm not going anywhere as long as Ann is still working here. read more
