Jay and his team are the BEST. For my first bathroom renovation ever, they gave me so much helpful, free advice on form and function, quoted me a very fair price, handled all the permitting and pickup of the supplies, and were very communicative and conscientious. They made it sooo easy for me (!): I just ordered what I liked and then went and got it and took charge of installing it. We just started the project, so the bathroom isn't done quite yet but I'll post pictures when it is!! read more

Truly, the worst exterior painters I've ever hired, and I've owned my home since 1996. First, when they quote you, it's only for one coat. There isn't a professional painter in the world who would ever do less than primer+2, and when you ask about it, they agree "of course that's best practice" and add on another $2,000. This kind of thing happened several times - services any other painter would do automatically were not included ("oh, we aren't gonna move pots and stuff off your deck before we paint it, you have to pay extra"), I flagged it, and they added more and more onto the quote. Eventually my $2500 quote blew up to $6500++. The best part was after I paid extra for them to move plants etc on the deck, the workers refused to move them. Three different times. They said "it's too heavy"; I suggested oh I don't know A DOLLY and they told me that would be an additional equipment cost (which, silly me, I assumed was INCLUDED in the $1000 !!! "Moving plant-pots" fee I already paid." When they painted the deck, they just power washed it, instead of actually sanding and prepping the surface. Then they just rolled the paint on the top, and completely ignored the space between the boards, where decks rot. I called them back to fix it. When they had the scaffolding removed the next day, the deck paint peeled right off: not from equipment scrapes, but from guys simply walking on it. I called them back again to fix it, and they said it was my fault for having the scaffolding guys remove the scaffolding so soon. I reminded them that I did not schedule the removal, they did. Three days later, the deck paint was coming off again in huge chunks. I called them back again to fix it a third time. After that, I checked and the spaces between the boards (big ones too) were STILL unpainted. Around this time I realized that they had painted the shingles at the (high and hard too see) roof the wrong color, too. They were given a color rendering of what colors went where in the very beginning, and they blew it. The deck is a disaster again, and I finally gave up on them and repainted it myself with their paint. Then I googled the paint. (Wait for it): They used an INTERIOR FLOOR PAINT (armorseal treadplex, made for concrete warehouse floors) on my exterior wooden deck!! I feel terrible posting such a negative review, but I do it in the hope that it will inspire this company to improve. In the meantime, my fellow homeowner, I hope this info saves you $7,500 and months of headaches. read more

Jay upgraded our homeowner (HOA) common property which actually help enhance the resale value of homes. Enough for an owner of a 2 br/1 ba townhouse to hire Jay to do in-home enhancements and give it a high appraisal quote of over $1M! The crew are all skilled, hard workers who were very accommodating to residents and provided quality workmanship. The project of upgrades consisted of about 13-jobs. This included another overall painting of the buildings and parking area (Also did prior painting.). Another job was the rebuild of a recology bin fencing. A combo of two jobs included the replacement of a vehicle security gate motor box; and the driveway asphalt removal with tile stone replacement. Commercial and condo properties should check with the City Planning Dept for any compliances regarding driveways and tile stones. The finished work speaks for itself. Having worked with Jay before, seeing the same crew members, and going by the posted pics and one home's appraisal value, Supethome is a company folks should consider for home and homeowner association projects. Jay's bid proposal quotes are also very competitive. And he provides balance summaries of payments, purchases, adjustments. Jay keeps customers in-the-loop with project finances. Again I give Superhome a high 5-star rating! Much deserved. read more

Super Home Builders - Paver Work Area From Inside AFTER - General Contractors Near Me - San Francisco, California

See all

I've worked with Super Home for a couple projects - Exterior painting for a commercial building and Interior painting + new flooring for a residential home. The first job was an exterior paint job for a commercial project so I wasn't invested in top quality. The second job was for my own home so I was able to see/feel the quality of work better once I moved in. Overall, owner (Jay) acts as the foreman and is good with response rate to comms. Pricing was fair and could be negotiated. However, there is no craftsmanship and my interpretation is that they are simply running a business, and will do the job if the numbers work. There is no craft and very little job oversight on-site; no one oversees or reviews the work throughout the day or daily even to ensure its quality. We did receive phone and text updates regularly, and Jay would always call/text me back, but the updates were not always clear b/c it was being relayed to him and the pictures that were shared can only show so much visually in 2D. We didn't live close by to the project so had to rely on Super Home/Jay to make sure the work was being done properly and at a good standard. When we would ask follow up questions or inform them that things looked wrong, bad, etc. in the pictures or after visiting the site, we would continually be assured it looked fine in-person or that it would be fixed. We were fed incorrect updates b/c he was not on-site nor visiting the job site regularly and relied only on his team to update him. I had to constantly visit the site and try to check the work with my untrained eyes. Exterior and Interior paint jobs were sloppy (e.g. missed areas of painting, paint splatter on the floors, windows, fixtures, or outside of the paint borders, left behind tape remnant). It just felt hasty and it was left as is. I still see paint specks, and find remnant tape. The flooring job is my bigger complaint. We installed new engineer hardwood floors, and the wood planks were laid in a design/pattern that was exactly the opposite of what we asked for (way too symmetrical for our liking). After an actual argument they fixed some areas b/c I was able to prove that they didn't follow instructions; however, too much of the flooring had been put down to fix all of it. In addition, the floors are uneven (literal areas dip/decline like a ramp in some areas) so they did not even/level out the flooring or even discuss it with us as an option as we were unaware of these issues. The edges of the floor are not flush to the counters so you see some gaps to the counter edges. After less than 1 year, the floors creak, depress down/sink, and even slip. And to top it all off they left pencil marks, glue spots, and paint specks all over the floors that I thought would be easier to remove. Some of this was noticeable at the end of the job, but not to the full degree, and honestly, at that point I had no more energy to ask them to come back to clean it up b/c I knew it would be more hassle. From afar, the floors look great, but after walking around with daily use, we can feel and see the issues all over. Just constant reminders we chose the wrong contractors for this job. I should not have used them again after the first job, but I needed a timely job done during the pandemic and it was tough to find anyone else. I figured painting is easy and he could do floors too which I also needed done timely. He convinced me they would save time and they would be more efficient since they can do both instead of coordinating a painter and flooring specialist. Big regret, I should have found someone else even if my timeline slipped and it meant a financial loss due to double rent/mortgage concerns. I do not recommend them if details matter or if quality or craft is important. If you're on a budget and just need to get a job done, then proceed at your own risk. Hope this helps. (Note: The jobs were done in 2019 and 2020 and I'm finally getting around to adding the review.) read more

Years ago, Jay and his team painted the entire interior of our SF home. It was such a good job we waited too long to call them back to repaint 3 rooms with the most wear and some water damage. Once again, Jay responded right away, listened to our ideas and even came up with better ones. His crew showed up on time and were clean and meticulous in their work. Because of the damage there was extra work for them in scrapping and patching and prep, but they did it without complaint and did the best they could with old, imperfect walls. All for a reasonable price and with great attention to detail. Jay and his team are the ones we will call back for any of the myriad remodel or painting projects needed to keep up an almost 100 year old San Francisco home. Thanks, Super Home and Jay Kim. read more

Jay Kim is really pleasant and refreshingly "low key" to deal with and made our house look spiffy. Our last deck sander/stainer dude was rude and... well, never mind. If anyone cares (I have no "friends" yet on Yelp, *sniff*) I'll post some purty pictures later on. read more

The installer of my cabinets installed them upside down. As a result, they had to be taken off and turned right side up. During that process,. the holes for the pulls needed to be redrilled - and the old holes show. They agreed to replace one side, but now they don't fully close and there are still "holes" showing. Not a good result read more

Super Home has done quite a few projects on my home. I first hired them to repaint the whole exterior of my victorian about 7 years ago. What a great experience. The price was good and they even sent out a color consultant to help me choose the 4 colors I wanted. Since then I have hired them many more times over the years and am always completely satisfied with their work. The owner, Jay Kim, is always very helpful, considerate and responsible. I know people talk about horible experiences they've had with contractors (and I've had problems too), but I have never had one single bad experience with Super Home. They are quiet, clean, on-time, efficient, well-priced, considerate, and their work is great. Super Home is who I call first for every home painting or remodeling project for my home. read more

Jay was super and his crew did a super job on our painting project. We got several estimates to paint the exterior of our house and ended up with Super Home for the job. They cleaned up after themselves and never made a mess. (It is your home and contractors should respect that!) We liked them so much that we hired them to do some interior painting as well. There was always a supervisor onsite so I didn't have to worry about wondering eyes leaving workers alone in my house. Super job to Super Home! I highly recommend them for your next painting needs. read more

Super Home did an excellent job with the exterior painting of our house! Prior to the project, we met with several contractors (most of whom we also found on yelp), and Jay Kim (owner and manager of Super Home) already made a good impression during the initial meeting. He was very thorough with explaining the service they were offering and what was required of the job. He answered all of our questions plus provided more info to help us make a decision. Not only that, when the quotes started coming in, Super Home's was very reasonable. His crew, headed by Christian, was very good, efficient and easy to talk to. Jay made sure to drop by every morning to address any concerns or questions that we had and to ensure that the project was progressing well. Jay was quick with returning all our calls and emails. They completed the job in a week. His after sales service is also excellent. There was a minor paint job on the front door that needed to be re-done, and Jay was very easy to contact even after they had completed the project. We highly recommend Super Home for any exterior paint job you need! read more

I had a very good experience with Jay Kim and his crew for the exterior painting of our house. I had seven bids and Jay offered the best value. He also took as much time as needed to go over colors, types of paints, and answer any and all questions to make me feel comfortable with the work. His painters were always on time, worked quietly and diligently, and made sure to minimize disruptions. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a quality job at a good price. read more

The construction work Mr. Kim is doing on an apt. complex I live at is so outstanding I felt I needed to say something. He and the person working with him are the definition of Master Craftsmen! And you can take that to the bank! Lovely work, couldn't be better. read more

Superhome/Jay Kim was recommended to me by a friend who had his house painted by him also. It was a pleasure working with Mr. Kim. He was always very prompt and followed thru with everything he promised. His crew was efficient and cleaned up each day after they completed the days work. Even when I forgot to unlock a front gate, they came back on another day to complete their work with no questions. The quality of the work was very good with crisp lines and clean coverage. I really did not have any problems with our exterior paint job and I would recommend Superhome. read more

Jay is dependable, honest, and knowledgeable. He will take time to tell you the various options, which is important when getting your building painted, because getting apples to apples comparison bids is difficult. He even made me aware that I had over-payed him. Best of all, he was definitely the best value bid that I came across (I got 7 bids). Class Act! read more
