We split the brisket melt on marbled rye instead of Texas toast and left off the American cheese too... yeah we're *those* people... the sandwich comes with a choice of house seasoned fries or potato chips and we ordered the fries. The order arrived together (sigh). I would have preferred the gumbo to come first, then the sandwich, but hey, my mistake I guess I *should've* said something. The gumbo was hearty and had plenty of protein albeit more rice than I would've liked. NOTE: if you are not an okra fan, beware. Both of us are good with okra so it was not a problem, but they do have plenty of okra in this gumbo. My dining partner said to skip the $5 add on of shrimp because although they are plentiful, they lack flavor. The sandwich is a decent size and was very tasty too and we both gave it a thumbs up. The fries were still hot and had a nice subtle flavor. Overall we'd give this roadhouse feeling, zany atmosphered little joint on the corner of Old West Point Rd and University a recommendation. All in front of other patrons. It was humiliating. I paid the remainder (although not legally required to by law) because it was a mistake on her part, not mine (she had my card for 10 minutes). Servers were so kind and patient with our tables it was quite impressive. All plates came out at the same time which was quite impressive. Every one said their dishes were tasty, and several had enough left over to ask for takeout boxes, which I'm sure they will make another meal of. I was surprised when I got the bill and ask the server if she had missed something. I was expecting a much larger bill. Service was far and above, server told me tip had already been added. I doubled the tip and they shared a of the delicious birthday cake with us. I'll be going back to the Grill.
