My giggidy golly. Let me tell you, this buffet is the best buffet you're gonna come across in the 518. I highly recommend the sweet and sour, as well as the seafood. Very strong flavor with just such strong passion for how the food is made. Customer service is 11/10, very friendly, very nice, very awesome . BUT LASTLY. YOU MUST TRY THAT ICE CREAM IN THE BACK, IT BRINGS YOU TO PARADISE AND BACK. Please stop by and give them a hello!

Greenshell mussels and peel and eat shrimp.

The dishes on the menu reminded me of the "old school restaurants in Chinatown, NY" The ambiance was " old school" but I loved it. The only critic I have was the "crispy noodles" they give you when you first sit down, were super hard but the sauce was tasty! I will definitely be going back and trying more new dishes!

I was met by the owners at the front counter. They were friendly. Their service was fast. I placed the order online. I ordered roast pork with broccoli and chicken lo mein. Nothing fancy . The broccoli in brown sauce was great but I didn't like the fatty cut of roast pork. I won't order roast pork from there again. If you don't mind literally, "chewing the fat," then the preparation of this dish is fine. But I'm taking off one star because of it. I've never had it served that way. Otherwise, it was a nice experience. This restaurant serves a lot of touristy Asian fusion food which explains the fortune cookies and dishes like Egg Foo Young. It seems the locals really enjoy it.

The menu which comes on a tablet is formatted in a way that is a bit foreign but if you are able to stick with it you will find the Chinese specialties Americans are used to under American Style and Staples. My daughter and grandkids ordered from those 2 sections I ordered from Sichuan and Liaoning and made converts of the rest of the table. Dishes we ordered and devoured: Steamed as well as as fried Pork and cabbage dumplings: Plump, not doughy, delectable. The youngest got some pineapple chicken ting that she devoured. Daughter ordered Beef & Broccoli and a rice noodle dish with chicken. The broccoli was tasting, the noodles were not over cooked, the plate was cleaned by 3 at the table. Grandson ordered General Tsaos chicken. Looked good, he ate 90% of it. Thy other Grandmom and myself ordered the Eggplant with minced pork, stir fried cabbage and Mapo Tofu. INCREDIBLE. Daughter and Grandson reluctantly tried the 3 dishes and tucked into them like they'd never see food again. Lastly, I ordered the tea. A small pot with a loose mixture of high quality leaves that you can keep refilling from the carafe of hot water. We pried the mix they use out of one of the waiters because we need to have this again and again!

The ambiance tonight was like a house party because there was a work party going on - so it was unusually loud. It is normally pretty quiet there. The pics tell a better story about the food than I can right now, but I will describe one: The poached fillet is a treasure chest of good stuff. It has sea bass, enoki mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, lotus root, bok choy, etc. I did not realize this until I dipped the spoon under the fish. It is worth every penny. The flavor deepens with every bite.

This is something I will no longer do. For about the last year and a half or so, IMHO, the restaurant has continually gone downhill. Where in years past the staff always made the customer feel very welcome, that feeling of being welcomed seems to have evaporated. I'm under the impression now, based on the last three visits, that the front woman running things just wants your order and then be done with it. She's not the same person from a few years ago. Last night I ordered what is called the "Seafood Wor Bar". The only items in the order that tasted anywhere like they should were the shrimp, and maybe the scallops, being on the small side, and not very plump at all; both tasted fairly well. The menu showed shrimp, scallops, crab and lobster. There was not one piece of lobster at all. And the crab was that fake crab you can buy in the grocery store made from a fish called the Pollock. Regarding the so-called crab, they were about the size of the first segment of one of your fingers_ maybe an inch long and about half an inch wide. For me the most epic thing regarding this so-called crab meat was the lack of taste; nothing like crab at all and very bland. Even the texture was way off. When chewing all I got was a mushiness. I never like thinking what I'm about to text, but I have to be honest here. Until they get the buffet up and running again, because right now it's menu only, there's no way I could recommend to anyone going to this restaurant. Also, as the name of the restaurant is still shown on the sign as "Oriental Buffet, All You Can Eat", I feel they should change the name of the restaurant and get rid of the all you can eat part of it. Three or four visits back, I asked the woman if I could order more without it costing me more because of the name of the restaurant, and she looked at me like I was an alien, and when I explained to her that at the bottom of the name it still says all you can eat, she explained that's only with buffet. I used to really look forward to and enjoy going to this restaurant, but not anymore. I doubt if I'll go until things get back to what I consider the old normal.

Then came the pineapple fried rice with pork belly. Savory, caramelized pork belly met bright bursts of pineapple in a perfect sweet-salt balance. Fluffy rice studded with peas, carrots, and ribbons of egg. My three year old son dove in without hesitation, happily scooping forkfuls of rice and pineapple like he had discovered treasure. No negotiations. Just joy. Fifteen minutes later, box in hand, the real event began. Across melting ice. A sharp jaywalk. A cut through the gas station. A full sprint toward the train station as the gates threatened to close and my family waited. It was an unofficial, record-breaking mile fueled entirely by fried rice ambition. Once the cold air finally left my lungs, I cracked open the box. Steam rose into the winter air. The smell alone was victory. I ate every last grain on that train, a triumphant feast earned the hard way. My wife was not impressed with how close I cut it. I, however, stand by the decision. Some meals are worth the sprint.

A tea leaf salad or Lat phat thoat has "Crispy pea, peanut, sesame seed and garlic oil with ground pickle tea leaf, cabbage and tomato." It was a little funky, a bit like kimchi, with a wonderful textural crunch provided by the peanuts. Palata (deep fried layered & flattened dough), commonly served at street food stalls, is reminiscent of scallion pancakes (without the scallion). In this case, it was served with a chicken, potato, and dahl stew. The saltiness of the stew was tamed by the layered and fatty dough. I might skip the chicken dumplings because those were boiled from frozen, store bought items. The pandan dessert, similar to a bubble tea, was an added extra. I'd definitely go again.
