Found a screw in our food! I hadn't been in years and would not go back. They gave us a 50% discount with 4 people. The food should have been free. The water also tasted like bleach. It was 9pm. They said the screw must have fallen from the lights of above. That most definitely was not the case. My brother said that kind of screw did not come from those lights and when he checked it did not make sense. They also did not remove the platter off the food bar from where the screw was found immediately, they kept it there. After that experience and how they handle it, I would say the buffet is probably not that sanitary. I do not recommend! read more

United Buffet surpassed my expectations. It had a very nice variety of food. I don't know that anything was AMAZING, but everything was GOOD. The staff are sweet and quick to clear your plates. I recently visited this establishment again and had a positive experience. The hostess is exceptionally friendly and attentive. However, the waitstaff's performance varies. While some are pleasant, others exhibit an attitude that is not conducive to a pleasant dining experience. The food preparation staff is particularly disappointing. I observed an instance where a staff member deliberately slowed down in front of an elderly vet in a powered wheelchair. As I was about to reach for a spoon to refill my tray, that same staff member walked in front of me and refilled a tray adjacent to mine, like I was not there. Despite these minor issues, the food quality is generally satisfactory. The buffet style offers a variety of chicken options and other typical fare. It is recommended to arrive before 3:00 PM to avoid additional charges for additional options. The highlight of my dining experience was the exceptional ice cream. It is soft-serve, exceptionally sweet, and extremely cold. I going to buy the same ingredients and machine and put it in my kitchen. It's that good. read more

United Buffet is the best buffet in my area. The food is always fresh, hot and tastes great. The service is wonderful, always attentive and very friendly! General Tso's over white rice is my favorite. Along with the green beans and garlic, steamed dumplings and chicken tenders is another one of my favorites! I've been to a few Chinese buffets in the area and I'd say this is the best. No pics as my kids were hungry and excited by all the choices. We were seated right away. The buffet was well stocked. We tried lots of different things and had nothing disappointing. I try to go with healthier options so I enjoyed the salmon, hot and sour soup, peel and eat shrimp and sushi. I was surprised to see raw fish as part of the sushi as I usually see "krab stick" and shrimp at other Chinese buffets. My kids were very happy with the soft ice cream and desert options. The only slight critique is the price. We got a hand written bill which I had trouble reading so I'm not sure what we paid per person but it was about $60 for 2 adults, a 6 and a 3 year old. This buffet used to be fresh and flavorful, but the last three visits were disappointing. The hot and sour soup tasted more like beef bouillon with a few vegetables. United is in a central location off of Route 7 close to I-890. It is a smallish buffet with lots of food choices, some all Merican (smashed potatoes, pizza, salads) and some Asian (fish, lo mein, rice, etc). The Asian choices have been Americanized. It doesn't make it bad, just bland. I'm sure there is less waste that way. The day we went to United, the trays were being rapidly refilled but I think my biggest complaint would have to be the temperature of the food. As the food is refilled, the food is hotter but just doesn't stay that way. Buffets are difficult. Staff removed dirty plates quickly and parking is good. Prices were reasonable. read more

Please, Please, Pleas, DON'T DO IT! This seems to be the only buffet in Schnectady & they know it. I went there tonight w/a coworker (our first time) and we will Never go back! The variety isn't much, they have a sushi sectiin and another section where you can bring up your meat & veggies and they will stir fry it for you bu other than that, not good. The food is super bland, no shrimp options unless you have them cook it for you. They offer a lot of crab dishes & I know it's imitation CRAB. The veggies are bland, the fried rice has a ton of onions & even with that was bland & oily. You can forget the salad. All iceberg lettuce & some of it was brown. I said "well, let me try a veggie spring roll and a pork dumpling." You guessed it, Bland & lifeless!" If you enjoy buffets, don't bother here. I would take the trip to a Golden Corral or something, before wasting my time & money here. again This is coming from "Foodies " who enjoy all foods from all cultures, don't bother! The Seniors and the people who reside here keep this place open! To also add insult to injury, they are pricey! Food had good Flavor and for most part was warm or chilled well. Pretty good variety of Chinese and American food. Desert buffet was ok and have a self serve ice cream machine. Try to keep on top of replenishing empty or low pans. Waitresses depending on which one you get can be a challenge. 1 or 2 of them you do not want as a waitress, very rude and act like you are a bother. They do watch you and stand there after 2 or 3rd trip to buffet they bring you your check. Say no hurry here as a hint lol. Shrimp wrapped in bacon is good so is their coconut chicken and tso. Probably one of the best buffets around if they could teach the staff, some waitresses to be more polite and respectful. From moment you open the front door to walk in you can feel then staring at you in a odd way. I had one waitress so bad and disrespectful I left no tip. She screamed at me infront of whole restaurant. I replied your service sucked you get no tip its optional she chased me to front door and owner too. We took our grandsons today for birthday lunch. We were seated right away. Food was well stocked and Hot. Not many healthy choices, lots of fried food and dishes swimming in oil/butter. I read a few reviews and it seems our experience was not unique. My husband took the kids to the restroom. I got up to take our check to the front desk, i didn't realize you pay at the table. A server quickly stopped me and told me to pay here. Ok no problem i handed her a credit card and waited. She brought it back, i signed it and turned to go. She stopped me to point out my "error". I didn't leave a tip. Her english was not strong, i told her "im not sure what you are asking me" . Another server came over to tell me i didnt tip. I told her i wasnt leaving a tip. She became upset...." no tip for server?", and they tried to keep me at the table, arguing that i didnt tip. I told her tipping is optional. This was all extremely rude and in front of many customers. They were both angrily telling me to tip. I ended up walking away. I have never experienced anything like this before. I am a generous tipper when its appropriate and i just didnt feel that bringing a few drinks and grabbing dirty plates required a tip. After their behavior im glad i left nothing. We came here on more than one occasion but our latest visit was after we worked a festival in Scotia. We went on a Sunday when it was 16.95 all day. I have to be super careful whenever I go to buffets now due to my health and the fact that almost anything slightly off can set off my stomach, so here are some helpful tips for buffets. First of all, check your environment are your surroundings and the food areas clean and organized(here yes) I also noticed the attendants cleaning and refreshing the food. Second, try to start off with vegetables and proteins. I love to go for the fresh shrimp which was one a bed of ice and looked very very fresh, I also tend to go for the hibachi cooked meat because I know it's going to be super fresh. I will say that all the meats here, even those in steam tables, looked great and were being checked and refreshed. I enjoyed their green beans immensely they were freshly cooked and still were a bright green with a snap. I hate overcooked or soggy veggies. I chose the fresh steak for hibachi with mushrooms and onions and was not disappointed. Our waitress was attentive and made sure our table was regularly cleaned and beverages refreshed. All in all I was very happy with the selection and cleanliness because I have been to and left places where it was a mess. I also used to have a job in my teen years at a buffet, and I got to give it to them. United Buffet is very well run and maintained. The staff and owners should be commended for a grat job!! TERRIBLE!!! The sushi rice was nothing big a cold hard clump of rice you could not chew without force. Sushi fish was warm. It did look good but you can't good looking. Teriyaki chicken on a stick was dry so you couldn't eat it. Shrimp was a pain in the ass to peel. Mushrooms sucked cold as was no most of the food. Fish looked terrible. And that spinach cheese oh so rich dish! Pass on the mac and cheese - gritty. They have jello salads like and old time baby shower, fluff and fruity, banana nilla too. Staff polite enough. The meat looked decent, but I didn't eat any. No vegetarian sushi - boo. Better than the other buffets around for vegetarian. $13.49 plus tip. read more

Sadly, not even close... while it has a great selection of food options to choose from. The taste and quality do not compare to the Mac Daddy known as Capital buffet. It was an outrageous experience we had here. My husband went to get some egg rolls and spring rolls for take out, which should be charged by pounds instead of the number of spring/egg rolls. Anyway, they charged him by the number of rolls and we paid 21 dollars for about 10 spring rolls(the small one) and 7 egg rolls. Now, let's talk about the quality of these "fancy priced" rolls. Well, the egg rolls tasted like an over fried dough with little filling and, if you got lucky, you can find a couple of tiny red meat in the stuffing, which looks like some minced barbecue pork(cha shao pork). We are new to this area and were excited about trying out this nearby Chinese buffet (Chinese buffet is always a thing for us since I am Chinese). This was a very unique experience this is the first time I've ever been to a all-you-can-eat buffet as since the pandemic started. So needless to say it was a learning experience as well. I went there with my parents as they wanted to have lunch with us and when they brought us to the table I noticed that there were x's on certain tables with big blue tape which meant you're not allowed to sit at those tables they were practicing the social distancing. You can see in the pictures they had plastic all over everything to protect the food. Like extra-long sneeze guards so that the food does not get in contaminated. Also, there is sanitizer and plastic gloves that you have to put on every time you go up so that you're touching the utensils that are up there with a clean set of plastic gloves and a clean styrofoam plate every time. The food seems very fresh and it did have a nice hot quality to it even though it was an all-you-can-eat buffet and sometimes having the food sit out in those hot Sterno areas makes it so that they don't taste hot all the time. I need to say that it was very good. The sushi was delicious I tried some things that I've never tried before just to give it a go and I must say that I was impressed I was inspired by a friend to try some sushi. The deserts was absolutely delicious it ranges because they have little cookies they have little cakes they have puddings ranging from banana cream to chocolate pudding. They also have peanut brittle there as well which is very good. They have your choice of ice cream vanilla, chocolate or swirl and the one thing I've always loved about their ice cream is that it doesn't taste like ice crystals it taste like real ice cream so it's absolutely delicious I always save room for ice cream there. The servers were really nice and friendly as well and they were very attentive as far as getting the plates cleared off of the table when we were Up and Away getting the food. The problem that I had wood that is because they served it in those styrofoam cups they were unable to see when we were running out of liquid so they were not able to find out from us if we were not at the table if we needed something so by the time we came back we did not have any liquid and they had already cleaned off the table so we had to chase them down to get a refill on our drinks. That's why I dropped it down the star but other than that it was absolutely phenomenal there I was quite impressed. The pricing it's a little on the high side, especially if you're going there on the weekends because they set one price for Sunday all day long and for three people and end up being around 40 something dollars and for two people it ended up being 20 something dollars. So if you can't really eat a lot oh, you need to balance out whether that is worth it for you on the weekend or not. Followed by that though I will say that on the weekend you get the shrimp and extra amenities that you don't get during the cheaper times of the week. So there are bonuses to going on the weekend vs during the day on the weekday. If you're ever in the area stop by this restaurant it is excellent. There are other closer buffets, but I will go out of my way to visit. Plenty of parking and seating - booth or table, your choice. Food is replenished frequently as are beverage refills. Selections aplenty at a decent temperature. The TV's are a nice touch when you get tired of staring at your phone. I usually don't like chicken, but their extra extra crispy nuggets are addicting.
