Had reservation for 4/7/24- 4/8/24 for solar eclipse. Paid $180 a night for an $80 a night room due to eclipse gouging. Called Priceline on morning of 4/6 to cancel due to illness. Was told that due to cancellation policy I would lose first nights charge . Policy states " Any cancellation received within 1 day prior to arrival date will incur the first night charge". The manager Mr. Patel refused to refund my money for the second night . I paid extra for cancellation when I made the reservation. Never showed up and lost $429.38. What a rip off. This is an ok place to stay. I accompanied relatives to Holiday World this past weekend and this is where they chose to stay. The interior is updated and modern, much to my surprise. The showers are nice, but there are no tubs. There are no smoking rooms at all and if you vape then you have to head outside to hit your e-cig, or else they will still charge you the $250 even though e-liquid contains no tobacco. I have no problem with this in non-smoking rooms, but you should at least have some smoking rooms for people who smoke and vape otherwise it's a huge inconvenience. The bed was comfortable, but we hated the blankets. The bottom blanket was scratchy wool and the top blanket was literally a sheet, I'd bump the review up a star if we were given a comforter or something a bit nicer than what was given. Overall this is a decent place. I wouldn't come back though due to having to make a trip outside from the third floor every time I wanted nicotine. If you're a non-smoker and you don't mind thin blankets, this place would be more like 5 stars for you. read more

HOLIDAY WORLD FAMILIES***. Do not take your family here!!!! This dump is dangerous and disgusting!! Any positive reviews for this place HAVE to be fake... or perhaps were left by the druggies and drunks that live here. Our family of 4 was visiting Holiday World and saw this hotel as one of their recommended hotels on their website. Everything seemed fine at check in. The lobby was decent. We got the keys to our room and drove around to the side close to where our room was. It was 11 PM and dark so we couldn't really see our surroundings. We did notice that the side door that should have been key access only was broken and propped open allowing anyone to enter the hallway of rooms. Red flag #1! We entered our room and were greeted with a strong air freshener smell. The room appeared to be decent at first glance. We were not expecting a Hilton for $89, however... we were also not expecting a dump!!! My husband walked over to the air conditioner which was turned off and he turned it on. Within minutes we began to smell a terrible odor of urine and mold. It was disgusting. It was late and we were tired, so we all just went to bed. We laid in the beds that felt like a blanket over springs. There were stains on the sheets so we used our own blankets and laid on top of their bedding. We could not sleep. The air was so heavy and smelled so bad. My husband and I went outside around 2 AM to get some fresh air and there was a car driving around the hotel and looking at us. We saw another guy show up on a bicycle after circling several times. We felt extremely unsafe so we went back to our room. We, again, approached the side door that should have been locked and it was propped open. There was a druggie sitting on the stairs looking at us. We went back to the room and started noticing so many disgusting things. The carpet was sticky and ripping in places!! There were stains everywhere and the toilet was gross. The air still smelled terrible and our kids were starting to cough. We couldn't stand it any longer and also felt completely unsafe. We went to the front desk and complained. He said we should have told him when we first checked in and he would have moved us to another room. I pointed out all the pictures I took and he asked me if we saw any bugs. Um, what?! He did refund our money, which I do appreciate. However, I feel compelled to share this to hopefully prevent another innocent unknowing family from staying here. I fear that something terrible might happen or may have already happened there. I will also be contacting Holiday World to have them reconsider recommending this terrible place to their families. And, the State Inspector should know about this as well. Needless to say, we couldn't wait to get home to take showers and wash every piece of clothing we brought with us! read more

We reserved two rooms, and both were disgusting. Water stains on ceiling, walls dirty and stained, bathroom tile and shower were filthy. In fact, we didn't even take showers before we left because the bathroom looked so gross. Beds were old spring mattresses that needed replacing years ago. Hodgepodge of carpet near front desk due to water damage I'm assuming. Ice machine area smelled so strongly of mold and mildew that we got a bag of ice from a convenience store. I'm not sure how this hotel can even pass a health inspection. Very disappointed, as we usually have good stays with Wyndham. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, and would in fact discourage people from staying here. read more

Relatively clean pet friendly hotel near Holiday World. Very small single queen bed room with only 1 chair at the desk and no table. They showed me a handicapped queen on the first floor because I was hoping for a bath tub but it had a very bad odor. Took the room on the second with only a shower instead. It was nice they offered to show me the room before booking it. The breakfast offered was limited to high carbohydrate choices only and I didn't have any so I can't say if it was good or not The coffee was good. Others seemed to be enjoying the waffles. My only serious concern was that the lock on the buildings side door was completely broken and in need of repair. read more

After our van broke down in town, we were forced to spend the night in lil ol Jasper. We were SO pleasantly surprised that this motel was clean, modern, smelled good, and was an excellent price. {i had went on hotwire while we waited for the tow truck.} If we ever had to come back to Jasper, we would totally stay here again! I really blame myself for having higher expectations in staying here. I honestly haven't stayed in a motel in years (i've definitely become a lot more pretentious in my lodging!), but there really aren't that many options in Jasper, and I dunno, the pics didn't look that bad! But as soon as we walked into our room, omg i thought I was going to throw up - it smelled SO bad. I thought it was a cigarette-smoke smell, but my husband thinks it was more of just an old musty smell.. either way, it was disgusting. Unfortunately, there were no other rooms to switch to because they were completely booked for the rest of the weekend, but something tells me the smell wasn't exclusive to only our room. But upon walking into our gross-smelling room, I actually immediately called the Hampton Inn to see if they had any vacancies... unfortunately they did not, so we had to power through it. After while, we got used to the smell, but we were there with our 13 month old daughter, and I hated to think what gross dirty germs she was breathing in. ugh! In addition to the smell, the floor felt so grimy. I used to have a phobia of walking around barefoot in hotels, but over the years I eventually got over it (probably because I started going to higher end hotels lol)... this motel reverted me back to my phobia. I felt so dirty walking around it, and it drove me crazy that my daughter wanted to crawl all over it. oh, we also didn't have any towels when we first got into the room, so we had to go to the front desk to request some. It's not that big of a deal, but that's just weird. Another issue was that the lock on our door didn't work!!! It had one of those inside locks, so it was fine if we were in the room, but when we left for the day, we had to slam the door multiple times before it finally locked in place on its own. I think a lot of the doors were like this, because as we were walking through the hallways, we noticed so many doors that were cracked a tiny bit.. i think a lot of people probably didn't realize their doors weren't closing and locking all the way! so, ok you think, well this is Jasper, IN... no crime happens in this small little town... well I didn't trust the crazy old drunk dude (and this was drunk creepy guy, not drunk college student who means no harm) that was stumbling through our hallway, nor the guy he was smoking up with in the white van with dark windows in the parking lot. On top of the crazy dude, the walls were so thin, so you can hear all the loud people in the hallway, and we were also right next to the stairwell, so the doors kept slamming in the middle of the night. Luckily, my daughter is a heavy sleeper. I will say that I was surprised by the water pressure lol i know that's a weird thing to comment on, but the toilet and shower were pretty heavy duty. But so why the 2 stars instead of 1? well again, just want to give full disclosure - I have become a snob when it comes to hotels, so maybe I'm being too hard on them, i dunno... i definitely wouldn't recommend it, but if you are ok with most 2-star motels, then you will probably be fine staying here. We come to Jasper quite often to visit my in-laws, and unfortunately with our daughter now there just isn't much room to stay at their place anymore, so we will have to see how the other motels in the area make out in comparison! I've heard the Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn Express are much better, so maybe check those hotels out first if you are willing to spend a little more! I'm actually going to try the Days Inn first next time we're down there, so we'll see how that one works - not expecting it to be much better than the Super 8, but it's the next cheapest option! so I guess look back on the Days Inn yelp page for my review after Thanksgiving ;) read more

I stayed at this hotel for a few days while working out of town. The first night I was there I noticed several stains under the sheet, and after I pulled the top sheet off, I noticed several fresh blood stains on the mattress protector. Obviously disgusted, I went to the front desk to find a solution. It was midnight at this point and I was traveling with a co-worker so we decided to try to find a way to fix this. I spoke with a man at the front desk and he told me he would come up and change all the linens out. When he came up to our room, he stated that he didn't know why Americans do this stuff insinuating we somehow managed to put the blood stains on the mattress topper without staining the top sheet. At this point he pulled the mattress topper off to reveal a second mattress topper that also had some blood staining that must have soaked through. He looked at me and said "is this one ok?" I told him sleeping on someones dried blood was beyond my comfort level. We are Wyndham Diamond members and travel often, so we reached out to them and they stated that it is a private hotel in the Wyndham network. Super 8 was contacted and their solution was to credit us two nights free the following week as we were returning to finish the job we started the previous week. When we returned today to claim and use our two nights, and the owner of the hotel stated that he was present during the call with Wyndham and only agreed to provide one night for free. Essentially saying we were lying about our two night free solution that was agreed upon last week. I am shocked that after this entire experience, that this owner Patel would do this. We are here for three more days and will be switching hotels for the remainder of our stay. read more

Called the morning of our reservation to let them know we would not be there until 3am in the morning to check in. They said that was fine ! We show up and no one is at the desk. Note on counter telling us to use house phone in lobby and call "0" or to call the hotel main #. We stand there listening to it ring , the base of the phone is their but not the receiver. We try calling Super 8 corporate , they tried calling the hotel several times to no avail. They said they could not give us a refund because we booked thru Expedia. We then called Expedia and after 45 mins of back and forth and them calling the hotel also to get No Answer. They found a new room and gave us a refund and paid for early check in at new hotel. Finally after almost 2 hours of sitting in lobby of Super 8 and trying to get a new room, the desk clerk shows up , clearly he had been sleeping. With no apology , he said " so what do you want to do " ? We packed up our things and left. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone ! from what i could see it wasn't very clean also read more
