My friends and I (three young women) planned what was supposed to be a peaceful weekend getaway, but it turned into one of the most stressful travel experiences I've ever had. While the cabin itself was cozy and in a great location, the check-in process was an absolute nightmare. When we arrived, the address provided didn't take us to the correct cabin. We drove around for nearly 30 minutes trying to figure out where we were supposed to go. When we finally found what we thought was our cabin, there were already people staying inside! We had to knock on the door and explain the situation, only to learn that they had also been misled by the same confusing directions. The cabin had no house number, no signage, and both cabins were left completely unlocked--despite our reservation email stating there would be a lockbox code. The other guests told us both cabins had been unlocked all day. When we entered ours, we found unmade beds, dirty dishes, used towels, and blankets on the floor. It was unacceptable and honestly unsafe--thankfully we were three women traveling together, but this could have ended in a completely different scenario. We had no cell service that night, so we called the rental company first thing the next morning. The weekend staff told us to call back on Monday to discuss compensation. When we did, they only offered to refund the cleaning fee. I tried to explain how serious and unsettling the situation was, but they didn't seem to care. When I finally spoke with Stephanie, who claimed to be the manager, she handled the situation in the most unprofessional and dismissive way possible. She talked over me, belittled my concerns, told me "If you were really that uneasy, you would have just turned around," and then hung up on me while I was still speaking. Considering I had driven over 2.5 hours and had nowhere else to go, that response was incredibly rude and uncalled for. The lack of communication, safety measures, and professionalism from this company is appalling. The fact that the cabins were left unlocked and accessible to anyone is a serious security concern. I would never recommend Moondance Cabin Rentals to anyone. Their negligence and disrespectful customer service completely ruined what should have been a relaxing weekend.

I was a bit out off by the limited base hours. It's Louisville. Should've the bar open before 5pm on a Sunday? She explained that the bar is separate from check in and the kitchen or something, and they couldn't justify bringing in a bartender. Just makes no sense. How somebody that can check people in and pour drinks. It wasn't that just. The good ... Location. Convenient to Yum Center, downtown bars and restaurants, Roots 101 (super recommend this), and the Muhammad Ali Center (further but walkable). The bad ... The rooms. The rooms are tiny. Not much room for more than the bed, shower, and restroom. You definitely don't want to have 2 people. There's no place to lounge at all. My housekeeper didn't come a couple days I was there. My bed was never made up. But, I did come back to some fresh towels. We only stayed here because a group of us came from California for the Cal-Louisville game. Had I known the rooms were this small, I would have stayed elsewhere. But, I understand that this is their "thing," so I can't fault the hotel. If you're looking to save a little and don't mind a small room, this is a good spot. But, is your tastes are more for a larger room, stay away.

It tries to make the best of the space but it's still cramped. For one person it'd be okay, but with two it's more cramped than cozy. I know, that's the "thing" with this brand - I was just surprised that a New York City hotel had more space than Louisville. Front desk staff at night was super sketchy. Didn't explain the parking situation, just stared at me when I asked for validation since the sign at the garage literally has a sign saying to validate at the front desk. Never got my digital check in ahead of time, and when I checked in I asked for a late checkout and saw the guy write it down - only to have someone knocking on our door at 12:30 asking why we were still there, or if they should charge us an extra night. Got asked if I wanted to pay $50 to upgrade to a corner room when I had already submitted for an upgrade and was told none were available, then that we couldn't even upgrade for the fee because we were using points for the stay. Location is great though, right in the heart of downtown. You'll have plenty to do around here. Just overall a pretty negative experience. Although the front desk staff in the morning was *lightyears* ahead of the night crew, I don't have any plans to return here on my next trip.

There is no better location to watch Thunder Over Louisville. Planes fly directly in front of the hotel, the drones are easily viewable from the balcony, and the fireworks to cap it off are unlike anything you'll ever see anywhere else. Fireworks are fired from two barges as well as the George Rogers Clark Memorial Bridge. Safety is their #1 priority as evidenced by the unbelievable amount of security at their hotel for the Thunder event. Wristbands are required to enter either tower of the hotel upon check-in, and each tower is PACKED with security guards. The hotel features several restaurants with great food that can be eaten inside, ordered to go for your hotel room, or ordered from room service. We were pleasantly surprised that seating was immediately available for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our favorite restaurant was Walker's Exchange. Seating was plentiful and the kitchen moved at a rapid pace to keep food flowing out to diners in quick fashion. As for Thunder Over Louisville, it's an event we will never forget. The planes were roaring loud, the drone show was patriotic, and the fireworks were unlike anything I've ever witnessed. I counted 4 finales that could have capped off the show, but the intensity just kept ramping up to an epic climax, complete with howitzers firing off both sides of the bridge. If you are looking to experience Thunder Over Louisville, there is no better vantage point than the Galt House.

Because the two-bedroom waterview suite is dope. It's like a small condo. The bedrooms flank an enormous living room with multiple seating options, there's a kitchenette, a balcony overlooking the Ohio River, and just lots and lots of space to spread out. My family is composed of introverts who need to retreat to their own private spaces to recharge, and this hotel room afforded us this luxury. We could all be in the same room, but also out of each other's eyesight and earshot, like God intended. If you require time and space to not see or interact with your family members for extended periods, this is the hotel room to find that. A good fitness center in a hotel is important to me, and Galt House has a stellar one. I've never seen anything like it, really! It's called Club 360° Fitness Center, because it's located on the rooftop of the hotel and all of the fitness equipment is situated to face outward in a circle toward floor-to-ceiling windows, if that makes sense. You get panoramic views of Louisville from the gym -- it's pretty cool. And there are lots of cardio equipment options (including several ellipticals, which is important to me), free weights, and lots of other things. Galt House also has an outdoor pool that's open seasonally (although, no indoor pool, which is a bit of a bummer), and it's also centrally located to lots of restaurants, shops and museums. Parking is either valet or self-park, and self-park is a block or so away in a parking garage. Overall, this is an excellent hotel that puts you within walking distance of lots of amenities. And it's clean and comfortable, and a little bit fancy but not overly so. It was exactly what we wanted during our stay in Louisville.

We booked thru a third party for an executive suite 1 BR. We arrived later and the Fairfield front desk isn't open, everything thru the Springhills side. We realized the room they gave us was a regular king. I went to the front desk to inquire and the front desk guy was like, there's no such room, it doesn't exist. I was like, I'm on the Marriot website and they do have the executive suite and I booked it and showed him my confirmation with the words "executive suite 1BR". He was like it's the regular king you booked, Fairfield doesn't have any suites and I have never seen that website. (It's Marriott.com btw). I showed him the pictures on the website. He still didn't believe me and after just said come back in the morning to speak with the manager. I came back and spoke with Nikki instead. She was amazing. She said yes, we do have that room but they are all under construction and someone should have emailed us. I told her about the front desk guy from last night and she said he should know better because he's been with the company for 10 years! She tried to compensate us for the room we should have gotten but couldn't because we booked thru a third party. She let us pick some items from their market instead. She seems to know her information and was really helpful and great. Rooms: old, dirty and uncomfortable. Bad decor with bright ugly colors. The bed was really lumpy and soft. He room was either super warm or cold. At least we know both extremes were working. Carpet was stained and so was the shower. Older room for sure. Had a mini fridge and microwave. Our bolt lock was broken. Also had key issues. Breakfast: space eggs (fake) eggs, sausage Links or patties, fresh fruit, cereal, hard croissant, yogurt, hard boil eggs. No waffle machines. Pretty decent besides the space scramble eggs. Sat/Sun opens 7-10, weekdays 6:30-9:30. If you're looking to save some money but expect what you pay for, low quality rooms and inconsistent service.
