Far too expensive for the dilapidated quality of this hotel. There's far better places to stay not much further away.

Hampton never lets me down!…read more We came here after checking in a not so great hotel, and it was so different and lovely. It smelled fresh and clean, the staff was kind, and the bed was so comfty. Breakfast was good - obviously not restaurant level, but yummy. The oatmeal bar was fantastic! How anyone could give this place any less than 5 stars, I don't know.

The rooms are the best maintained I've in town across several work trips, the front desk, attendees are polite, helpful, and courteous, and it's located right in the middle of everything. It offers a large waiting pool, hot breakfast, and clean eggs, biscuits, sausage, waffles, and all the rest, and fresh, hot coffee, and cookies at the front are a nice touch. The downsides of noticed are that the sheets and beds, well comfortable pillow tops, seem to likely be synthetic and have me feeling confusingly, sweaty even with the air conditioner turned on, and the fitness room is long overdue for some very basic maintenance: the cable machine only has one side that works because the adjustment is broken on the other, and the weight bench adjustment knob has fallen off, keeping it flat and making a lot of exercise exercises not possible. Nonetheless, the pool is quite nice and large, and two treadmills, and elliptical, and a peloton spin bike are available.

They have breakfast from 6 to 9 in the mornings with hot choices as well as cereals and breads. They had popcorn when we arrived in the lobby, and the people behind the desk were very friendly helped us get through probably quicker than I can never remember getting through a hotel desk. The rooms are spacious and clean price was very reasonable, but in this location, I would expect that. I would imagine since it's only a few miles away from Holiday world that during the summer months, the price of hotels are probably higher here, there's a number of restaurants around Wendy's McDonald's Subway and CVS up on the corner. Very comfortable nice large TV refrigerator and microwave in the rooms as well.

After calling and booking a block for our group a month in advance we were left with minimal communication and several different answers when calling to book/confirm rooms. Nobody had a real answer for us. One employee said we had 11 rooms blocked, another said we had 16 blocked but when calling to book/confirm we were told the hotel was sold out. Only 8 of us were able to book through the block, leaving others to be charged higher rates. They blamed the issues on the manager walking out/quitting but ultimately it was an issue that the new owner should never have let happen in the first place. Their refusal to work with our contract was a slap in the face. One if guests were only able to book for 2 nights and had to bunk with another family, claiming they were full for the night, meanwhile TWO rooms were ajar all night directly across from my room. The breakfast was put up early most days, the pool went from a beautiful blue to swamp green overnight. Overall it was clean (minus the ants thay were all iver our table), the staff was nice and it would probably be fine if you were just staying as an individual rather than a group. If you are lodging as a group I would definitely take my business elsewhere. Forgot to add they charged the wrong card, I booked with one card asking them to charge another card upon arrival. They agreed to but still charged my card I asked them to change. I have been waiting for management to call me back since Monday. Its now the following Sunday and still nothing.

This Fairfield hotel in Jasper, Indiana is pleasant, pretty clean, and generally well maintained…read more The "king suite" room that I got was definitely smaller than what I would expect for something being marketed as a "suite", but include a mini fridge and microwave, which may have been what made the distinction, and what I was looking after anyway. It seems like it was updated within the last couple of years, with a nice, comfortable bed, and furnishings mostly in good condition. On my criticisms, I am *really* nitpicking here: The only downside, which I noted was mentioned in another review from a few months ago was that cleanliness could've been a tiny bit better. Nothing that gave me the "ick" but the shower definitely needed to have the caulking stripped out and replaced because there was some mildew under it, in spite of it appearing to have been cleaned pretty well otherwise with no water spots and everything wiped down aside from a few tiny spots in corners. The air conditioner was also a bit noisier than it should've been, with a slightly slow sink. To summarize: felt pretty darn, clean and well-maintained, but fell just short of being "five stars" at this price level. My room had a absolutely gorgeous view of the river, and the hotel itself is located within a few minutes of the town center, and a number of restaurants here and within 15 minutes at the next town over.

All the USB plugs that are in the wall under the tv didn't work, and none of the bedside lamps have USB ports. The alarm clock has 2, and thankfully one worked. It's my own fault, I just assume all these hotel have something to plug cords into now, which this one does, they just don't work. I have the Bonvoy app and have used it multiple times (travel a lot for work) and the hotel staff are always quick to get back when you use the chat feature, but I messaged the staff about this and no one responded all evening. Then, the bathroom. Our shower was gross. Whoever recaulked the shower did a very novice job and it's all nasty and discoloring already. Whoever tried cleaning it did a pitiful job. Then when I was getting ready for bed, washing my face, I could hear someone above me showering, and what literally sounded like pipes clanging overhead. Just seemed very, very weird. The area around the hotel is very pretty with lots of restaurants past the town square, and the common areas of the hotel seem very nice, like the communal area and the gym. Might be forced to stay here a third time if we come back to Holiday World but I won't be looking forward to it. Update: I wrote this on our first night- next morning I realized our gross shower described above also had no body wash in it, bottle was completely empty. Went down to breakfast to find everything empty- cooler with milk empty, no bread, no cereal, no spoons. All they had was the breakfast slop I pictured. Oh yah, and when I came down for that, that's when I realized our door didn't latch when we closed it. Which means anyone can come and go as they please. To get it to latch you have to put all of your body weight into the handle and pull the whole door UP. I mean, I become more and more flabbergasted by this place. My husband just came out and announced there were no hand towels in the bathroom by the breakfast room. The place is a clown show but it's not funny.

So you Yelpers know, this Quality Inn and Suites is on Eastern time. Holiday World is on Central time. First issue was upon arrival. They missed the part about having a dog and put us on the third floor. It took several minutes to switch us to the first floor where all the dogs were supposed to be. I will say that staff did ask if having a handicapped room was ok before taking it. It was the only room available on the first floor that had an attached second room that we wanted for our adult children available. We were in Rooms 112 and 110. Although right by the Lobby, we only heard commotion once and it was relatively quiet in the pretty full hotel. Our room appeared clean (my wife said it could've been a little better). The attached room for our adult kids was the same. Our bathroom was set up for those with disabilities as it did not have a bathtub but a handicapped shower stall with a fold down bench and no real lip to have to step over. The shower curtain was adequate to block the water runoff. The beds were not firm or too squishy. I slept comfortably. The rooms also had a table and chair, microwave, TV, and mini-fridge. There was also a digital alarm clock. The kid's room had a tub/shower combo which worked just fine. When our dog got sick, the staff did provide us with extra dishrags to clean it up and a garbage bag to toss them in. Thankfully, the dog got sick in the bathroom on tile and not on carpeting in the regular room itself. If all dogs were to be on the first floor, I'd hope that they clean the floors that much more often/deep-clean in case of accidents like this. I'd be weary of walking around barefoot on the carpets. Although we did not use the pool, it was a big square three to four feet deep. Picture below. The "free" breakfast consisted of cereal, pastries, juice, fruit, yogurt, mini-waffle station maker, and had hot food of eggs and sausage links. The eggs were very watery and looked quite unappetizing but I did try to get some dry eggs on my plate. Also had some sausage which was nothing special. This Quality Inn served our purpose for getting a good night's sleep in prep for the full day road trip the next morning. The hotel has a Wendy's and Taco Bell practically next door, a gas station across the street, and a brand new Dunkin was being built. We spent about $400 for the two rooms with taxes and fees and a $20 dog fee.

That said, my room was clean and comfortable. The AC worked really well and let me set it to pretty low so the room was nice and cool. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. They had an indoor pool which was a good thing. It was too small to really swim in but I enjoyed being in it for a while. They did have wifi which was adequate because it was nearly impossible to get a signal there for the Internet. That said, the room was dated and the candy machine right outside my room was half empty. I didn't need anything from it but, in fairness, a half empty machine made me wonder about the quality of what was inside of it. Breakfast was a joke. I was there for an event at a nearby monastery and at 8am the breakfast on day one was pretty much depleted and the coffee was miserable so I gave up and drove to the monastery for breakfast. Day two breakfast wa totally gone and I couldn't bear to try the coffee again. That said, there is a Dunkin right next door so I had good doughnuts and coffee. I chose this place because it was the cheapest one available and all I needed was a place to sleep and it accomplished the job. It could have been worse. If you go in with minimal expectations, this place will meet them.

The house, over Labor Day weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday night), cost us $440 (total) for 5 people. The house has two bedrooms and bathrooms, a nice, fully equipped kitchen and a patio/deck with a gas grill. There is a washer and dryer in the first-floor bathroom. Our third person stayed on the hideaway bed, but we also found a nice twin mattress set upstairs. The house was clean, cozy and really nice! We were within walking distance of everything in town. There was only one potential snag in the whole experience....our GPS's had us all turned around (we were on 5 motorcycles), so we ended up asking some police officers that were parked at the gas station where the house was. We would never have found it, had we not gotten an escort from the nice police officer! He knew the house and said, "Follow me--it's tricky." The street sign had two names on it, with the one we needed to see, all covered up by tree branches. Note to the lovely Vesta: Please warn people of this, because it would be nearly impossible to find in the dark. Be sure to bring TP, paper towels, a sponge and dish soap. We'll stay there again. It was a wonderful house and a great deal!

And it's safe to say that West Baden is now a family tradition. My parents spent a few days there to celebrate their anniversary, and then the kids all came to stay the last night, during Easter weekend. And we made the most of it. We started with bowling and pizza at the new Ballard's at the Atrium (see my review on that). My older niece then watched all the kids in one of the hotel rooms, while the adults got a drink in the expansive atrium and enjoyed looking up at the picturesque dome ceiling. The next morning, which was Easter, we found a quiet sitting area on our floor to have an Easter egg hunt with all the kids. These are memories we will cherish. We popped over to French Lick for brunch, though the Easter brunch set up in the atrium definitely looked delicious too. The staff is always excellent. We were able to call and get all of our rooms next to each other, which helped. Thanks for another fabulous mini-vacation, West Baden!

For a property seeming to target the upper middle market, I think there is a lot of value. They have many free amenities that most no longer do - no resort fee, no parking fee, free shuttle to the sister hotel and downtown. I also feel the pricing at restaurants is somewhat reasonable, particularly at happy hour. Add in amenities closer to a luxury property - evening music, nice indoor pool almost always open, and obviously just being in the unique dome... This is a winner. We found the service to be consistently friendly. We had no issues with getting help for our large amount of stuff at check in or check out. Very nice to our dog and he got a lot of treats for the pet fee. Dining service was on the slower side but seemed to fit the vibe. We stayed in a suite with two queens. It was large. The furniture was on the worn side but well maintained. Nice to see unique furnishings vs generic all white everywhere. Plenty for the kids to do. We enjoyed the newly restored bowling alley and found it nicer than the same priced one at French Lick Hotel. We did like going to French Lick for the shopping and to read about the history. There is a lot about the history everywhere, including the small museum (a large room) in the hotel. We were very happy and would like to return.
