Dust/cobwebs

I expected more for the price. These adorable cottages are not kept clean at all. When we first arrived no one was there to greet us (4:30pm) but they did have a map to show us the grounds. Not many cabins were being used at the time so it was very quiet. From the outside they seem clean with nice ponds and fountains. However after entering the 1 bedroom "mistletoe " we found left behind underwear , bug remains, several spiders(even in the microwave), dust and webs in every corner, blood on the quilt (we paid for the linen package-so even more money) ,and stained pillow cases. My toddles socks were dirty from the floors. The coffee pot had mold which I've never seen before and it was gross. The management did respond to our request to get a replacement one quickly but it should have been checked beforehand. It clearly was sitting there dirty for a long time. What a disgusting experience for $250 a night. The playground wasn't clean -leaves and branches everywhere and had several defects(broken basketball rim-unusable for little kids, pulled up grips on steps and the tether ball flat ) the sand pit was just a mess. And the grass needed to be mowed badly. The ponds as I said were very nice and my son caught his first fish that was the only positive of our stay at the lakeside cottages. It's sad because it was our first visit to Santa clause and the town was great and holiday world was so very nice but we will not return to the cottages.

This review is for a one bedroom cottage and the pricing associated with a one bedroom cottage. While the area is pleasant, there are stink bugs everywhere, EVERYWHERE! It is really a no frills place and very overpriced. However when there are less than three options in the entire area you can set your prices accordingly. I will say that the grounds are well kept and the owners are very pleasant. What I find interesting is you have to provide your own linens or you can choose to pay $30.00 to purchase linens, towels, and blankets (this is the charge for a 1 bedroom). For $150.00 per night I think there is an expectation of linens. The cottages themselves are quant and cozy. The furniture is not extremely comfortable. You can tell the work is done by the owners and not professionals (see photos). The view is great. The bed is really comfortable. I just can't get passed having to pay for bedding and towels. Oh well.... If you book here just understand what you are getting.

Clean!!!!!! Crisp white linens and towels that are very comfortable (the linen package does cost). Beautiful property with nice fishing lakes and playground. My girls loved the train ride! Each cabin has its own fire pit patio and swing. Very clean and great service. Will def stay here again!

This is an absolutely delightful and surprising resort! With a beautiful view out of the back of our cottage at the lake, it is serene and relaxing. The cottage itself is immaculate with fine attention to detail, quality, and very charming decor. Swing on the porch swing while listening to the birds chirp over the water. Get a pail of free fish food to feed the fish in the pond while fishing from your private porch. Not to mention the cottages are a five minute drive from the wonderful Holiday World theme park, home to the best wooden roller coasters in the world!

This place was very clean! Family friendly with great fishing! Very nice playground with a sandbox and zip line. Cute train that runs daily and the staff is very accommodating. Will definitely return.

We stayed at Santa's Cottages the first weekend in October. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The grounds were well kept, and the cottage was clean. The lake was pretty close to the backyard area, but there was still room to enjoy the fire pit. It is unlike a hotel, in that there is no housekeeping service, and we had to change our own trash and make the towels last the weekend. Unfortunately, our backdoor lock broke during our stay, and we called at 10 am to report it. We were told they would be right over to fix it, and when we left 40 minutes later, no one had shown up. We had to prop our suitcases against the door to provide some protection.

This place is so tranquil! Stayed there with my family and we had a great time. Super clean. We stayed in a cottage by Jolly Lake. The beds are very comfortable. Location is a plus, it's close to Holiday World. It has a beautiful pool. Staff was friendly and helpful

There isnt enough words to describe how wonderful this place is! The owners are genuine and just down right fabulous! We have been staying here for close to 5 yrs now. It is so peaceful and family focused. Our children love it and we always have the best time! Its as if time stands still and you are able to hold onto the memories that are being made a little longer. We love watching the fountain at night and listening to the water. My husband and children love to fish and love to chase me with a fish (Im new to the fishing world...haha). They have a nice playground for the kids and recently added a kid sized zip line. We have always loved the cottages and up until this last visit, we have always stayed in the same one. They are very clean and up to date decor. Our son has been trying to get in their Hall of Fish book with catching a large fish...he accomplished that this trip! He was very proud & the owner put him on the cover of the book! Highly recommend this beautiful place!!!

It's just about a 3 hour drive south in none other than Santa Claus, Indiana! Did you even know there was such a place? Don't blink or you may miss it! You must visit the post office which is directly across the street from the campground. They have the biggest ornament shop that ever existed and info on how to write a letter to Santa! So cute. Oh...is that a squirrel? I love to digress... We've gone to Lake Rudolph for the Halloween weekends and they are truly magical! The campground goes allllll out! Cabin, RV, and tent sites decorate and people get SUPER into it their set ups. There is a golf cart parade, a whole carnival of games, a dance party, evening hay rides, and even trick or treating throughout the campground! Add in a visit to Holiday World and you have a trip you want to come back to. We didn't have one the first year but quickly learned golf carts are a must because the campground is big! Those 4 wheels mean more time to explore and candy collect! We felt proud of our carts this year! They definitely made updates between 2022 and 2023. We noticed! The cabins have nicer couches, sheets are nice and clean, everything is well stocked and feels a bit more modern than a simple cabin. I'm already counting down to 2024!

Lots of pavement for the kids to ride their bikes. Bring your e-bikes and scootersif you have them cause there's a lot of hills. The shuttle to Holiday world is very convenient. They rent golf carts but we didn't do it this time but next time probably will.

West Baden has now become a regular family destination. My family -- plus my mom, stepdad, siblings…read moreand their families -- just finished our second trip here. And it's safe to say that West Baden is now a family tradition. My parents spent a few days there to celebrate their anniversary, and then the kids all came to stay the last night, during Easter weekend. And we made the most of it. We started with bowling and pizza at the new Ballard's at the Atrium (see my review on that). My older niece then watched all the kids in one of the hotel rooms, while the adults got a drink in the expansive atrium and enjoyed looking up at the picturesque dome ceiling. The next morning, which was Easter, we found a quiet sitting area on our floor to have an Easter egg hunt with all the kids. These are memories we will cherish. We popped over to French Lick for brunch, though the Easter brunch set up in the atrium definitely looked delicious too. The staff is always excellent. We were able to call and get all of our rooms next to each other, which helped. Thanks for another fabulous mini-vacation, West Baden!

For a property seeming to target the upper middle market, I think there is a lot of value. They have many free amenities that most no longer do - no resort fee, no parking fee, free shuttle to the sister hotel and downtown. I also feel the pricing at restaurants is somewhat reasonable, particularly at happy hour. Add in amenities closer to a luxury property - evening music, nice indoor pool almost always open, and obviously just being in the unique dome... This is a winner. We found the service to be consistently friendly. We had no issues with getting help for our large amount of stuff at check in or check out. Very nice to our dog and he got a lot of treats for the pet fee. Dining service was on the slower side but seemed to fit the vibe. We stayed in a suite with two queens. It was large. The furniture was on the worn side but well maintained. Nice to see unique furnishings vs generic all white everywhere. Plenty for the kids to do. We enjoyed the newly restored bowling alley and found it nicer than the same priced one at French Lick Hotel. We did like going to French Lick for the shopping and to read about the history. There is a lot about the history everywhere, including the small museum (a large room) in the hotel. We were very happy and would like to return.

Upon arriving, we were 30 minutes early, Central Time, so we didn't get to check in yet, though I think we still got checked in prior to 4pm. That was fine. We came from Eastern Time Zone, Sunnyside of Louisville. I had requested a view of lake when I made reservations. A view of the marina was the best they could do, I guess. Upon entering our smoke free room, I found an ashtray full of butts and a lighter on our balcony. I get the rooms are smoke free and perhaps balcony can be utilized for smoking, but why leave butts and lighter on balcony? I called the front desk regarding this and they said they would address it. I then found a credit card, gift card and a pill in one of the drawers. I gave those items to the young lady I met earlier at the front desk. My wife asked her where we could get ice and she said she didn't know. Back to that later. We ate dinner prior to arriving at the "Resort" since we had time to kill. We ate at Little Dave's which was fine. See my review on that establishment. The pool was open when we arrived but closed not long after. We drove around the "Resort" park and found the beach was closed with No Swimming signs posted. Hmm. There is a trend started here. Wifey and I like playing mini golf and sometimes disk golf when we visit State parks. It was quite hot during our stay so we went to play a relaxed game of mini golf our first night just after sunset. We could see during the first half of the course and saw a maintenance person drive up, get out of the cart and appear to go to a power box of some sort on the opposite side of the course we were at. Wifey asked me to ask him if he could put the lights on, but I didn't feel like yelling to him and told my wife he saw us and would surely put lights on if they worked. Nope. Wrong answer. We played the second half of game in the dark. The following day we learned the pool was closed for maintenance. The trend continues. We decided to get out of dodge and the "Resort" to find something to do. Apparently, there used to be a Nature Center on the "Resort," but no longer. No pool, no beach and the mini golf course needed cleanup from debris on it. I stopped by the front desk, told the young lady where guests could find ice and her mature co-worker agreed with my comment. I then asked if the mini golf course lights were inoperable. I was told they should work. I said we would play later on when we returned from a day out of the "Resort," if the lights were on. We visited Leitchfield and had a fair day shopping and dining at Bluegrass BBQ. You can read that review also. We didn't care to try the restaurant on the "Resort" since everything was trending negative, plus the Park's restaurant was voted last for dining in the area. Go figure. When we arrived back from our trip to Leitchfield, we saw the lights were already on, though it was still light out. I thought perhaps the trend is getting better, but wait for it. When we went to golf, my wife said it looks like they cut the grass around the mini golf course. She was correct. It was clear they cut the grass, because the grass was blown all over the debris that was still present from the day before. That course could be nice with a little TLC. I thought to ask the front desk for a blower to help out the maintenance people, but didn't. I figured the answer would be no. I had been told a work order needed to go in to get the lights on at the mini golf course. I'd like to say the AC worked fine in the room. The flashing lights also worked in the room all night. You may want to bring dark blinders when it is time to sleep. My wife said the flashing lights were like fireworks going off all night. If you are a tall person, be prepared to hunch down to get under the shower head and bend way over to use the sink. Who decides where to install things at this "Resort?" Our last item to mention before ending this review is on our way back from the mini golf course, the light for the walkway between parking lot and our room was out. My wife said, "It is aweful dark on this walkway." I told her the LED light on top of the pole is out. Perhaps they need some more maintenance people or a new supervisor. I wasn't even looking for things at this "Resort," but they stuck out like sore thumbs. My wife and I have visited every Indiana State Park with lodging and several Kentucky State Parks with lodging. This one is hands-down the worst. Calling it a "Resort," is laughable. I think if I came to go boating, it may be a bit of a different perspective, but I feel a little reluctant to rent a boat at the State Park due to the trend it displays. Hopefully, the Park superintendent, or whatever they are called, can address these issues so future visitors have a better stay.

I've never had to use to check into the hotel so I can only review my experiences as a Casino customer. First off I love the fact the entrance area feels more secured for you, or really anyone (especially us women) to travel alone, the parking is close to hotel & the airport in general. That in itself makes it less stressful. Its mainly an entertainment complex located on the scenic banks of the Ohio River River front property in Evansville Indiana. It has the fairly large sized casino on the lower floor just inside the main entrance of the parking garage. (That is the popular single-level 24-hour casino that encompasses 45,000 square feet of gaming space featuring 1,175 slot games, over 30 table games, a Poker Room and a High Limit Room). Location overall is great, within walking distance of several bar & grills. Not to mention if you are traveling in to Evansville for an event at the Ford Center this establishment is only 10 minutes away. There's also a great bar & grill inside the casino with decent food selections for this kind of establishment. They offer great selection of alcohol, along with free fountain soft drinks. I like the convenience of the location, and that local guests, or return guests have the opportunity to sign up for a Bally's physical membership card for use in the casino area that you can set a pin number up for (keeps your money safe) and this enables you to have access to exclusive offers and ability to recieve great updates and potential savings. ***[Other things Bally's has to offer it's guests: Other recreational opportunities include fitness center, nightclub. Being a people with disabilities, after having had a long day, with bags in hand, it was rough. When we got to the check-in counter, the woman changed the room we were in. We paid the extra fees to be in a room that had either a view of the city or the river view. We ended up with a room that had the maintenance road & rooftop machinery right outside our window. The shower door wouldn't open and we had to use the shower gel to lube the bottom of the door to open and close it. The water knobs were crusted to the point that they wouldn't turn. We had to fight with them for several minutes before finally working. The shower leaked badly and when I finally tried to get out, I had to relube the floor to open the door again. I was told upon check-in that we would receive $50 free play and upon reaching the game floor and asking, I was told that it was a promotion for members who stayed and we would have had to be members prior to booking. The absolute most ridiculous thing we experienced was the location of the hotel check-in counter. After the long walk from the garage to the check-in counter, we were informed that the actual hotel was on the opposite side of the property! So basically, we would have to go back the way we came, walk all the way through the casino and then we'd find the hotel entrance. The other option was to go back to the garage and drive to the hotel entrance. But when you looked at the parking on that side of the building, it was creepy and there wasn't parking near the entrance. We weren't prepared to put our new vehicle in a lot that was dark and basically open. So we had to lug our bags clear across the whole property. The hotel area actually had an unused check-in area. It was actually really nice. The reason we were given that they didn't use it... COVID. Ya. It's 2026 and Bally's is still using COVID as an excuse for customer discomfort and their convenience. So they get money savings and convenience at the expense of people who thought that they would experience what Bally's advertises. I would NEVER recommend Bally's and we will never stay at another. It was shameful.
