I purchased my vehicle from them in February. Granted it is my responsibility to inspect everything but I wouldn't think they would sell me a car with a tire that had an almost splitting side wall. I can see where the previous owner hit a curb pretty well and took a gouge out of the tire. I ended up needing to buy new tires the next day after buying the car. Not something I expected, typically you budget for that. Anyways, I thought I would have the car serviced there because the selling department and servicing department are two different ones. I needed an oil change & tire rotation. I asked twice if they rotated my tires, they said yes. I got home and I knew for a fact they did not because one of my wheels has a small mark of yellow paint on it. I ended up going to Les Schwab for the rotation (love them). I called them the next day. I inquired if they rotate tires, which he said yes. I informed him that I was in yesterday for service and they did not rotate my tires. He pulled up my account and he said well I won't argue with you but it shows that we did. I explained how I know and he got real quiet and said oh. I let him know that I was not too happy and very apprehensive about my oil change now. He said he would let the manager know. I'm disappointed because I do not trust the Toyota dealership on the coast, as they have done some shady stuff to my other vehicle for oil changes so I go to the valley. I love this dealership and want it to be known. I did purchase my new/ used Honda passport here last May 2023 and I love it to death, hope I can have it 20 years! I did have an issue with one person here, but I really don't want that to sour the situation with everyone else who are so fantastic that can happen. Some of the great people who work here are Lizzie, she is so smart knows all about technology and is incredibly helpful always helping me, the lady at the front desk is so polite and nice. I love calling and getting her on the phone just to talk to her because she's so sweet. Ken who works in sales is one of the most helpful people ever. After I bought the car and I didn't have the pleasure of buying it from him which I would have if I had known, but after I did, he took time to help me with the snow mode and what to do in case there is snow on the road because I have not driven in snow before. He is such a nice person. He took time to send me a video clip and full explanation of how to use the snow mode on the car. If I left someone out, I apologize everybody even the guy that washes the cars is fantastic too. Every time I go here I'm happy and I'll be going here tomorrow to get an old-fashioned CD player put into my vehicle so I can listen to my old-fashioned CDs. I felt I needed to leave this review because ever since I started going there I had always loved this dealership and I found it about three years ago luckily. Most everyone will treat you well here! Bought a FOB from them over the phone. He had a person that does business programming FOB's and could come to my residence to do it. He arrived and tried programming it but it didn't work so he said he would bring it back to the service department and get another one. This was on a Tuesday. He said he would come back in a couple of days with another FOB but never came back. Called him to ascertain if he got another FOB and he stated he did. I asked when he could come back to do the programming. He said he would check his schedule and get back to me. Never called me back so I made arrangements else where to have it done. Paying for another FOB and programming. I paid Sunwest for their FOB and $325 for the person to come and program it. The person finally called back almost two weeks later and said he could come and program the new FOB. Advised that I already had it done else where and to take it back to Sunwest Honda so I could get a refund. Went and talked to the service person and said he couldn't give me a refund because the FOB was programmed. I told him that the person never came to my house to program the new FOB. He said the original FOB had one part that functioned but the rest didn't work. Nevertheless he stated he couldn't issue a refund. I paid for it so I'm out the money that I paid for and the money I paid for this person to program it. read more

I definitely felt as though i was getting a car that fit my needs and budget and not trying to be oversold on all the bells and whistles which let's be realistic I would LOVE to have but just weren't a necessity for me. I wish that a negative number rating was available. Sunwest uses True Car and Employee Purchasing Programs to suck you into their dealership. Then the purchase goes sideways. Sales staff claim to have no knowledge of True Car or how it works, despite the referral to this dealership FROM True Car. Staff complain that True Car makes it impossible for them to make money. Pointing out that the dealership price is $2K above the price from True Car results in absolutely no price change. I tried going to the management without any change. This is now going to BBB, True Car, and the Employee Buying Program. Stay away. They are not honest. read more

In fact everyone I encountered was very nice. I was happy with the negotiation and traded in my 2018 Honda CR-V for a 2022 Honda CR-V Touring. It took one hour, start to finish (no financing involved). I had an issue with Android Auto so went back the next morning and the gentleman who finalized the deal the day before spent an hour trouble-shooting. Had my car in for service today. Oil Change and Tire Rotation. Drove home and a Low Tire Pressure error message came on. Called to report this. Was told by someone named Mike, I think his name was, to drive to a gas station and fill my tires. WASN'T THIS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HONDA EMPLOYEES TO CORRECTLY FILL MY TIRES? ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Was informed that even if I was close by, the employees were leaving in 15 minutes. Spent $50 for questionable maintenance work and heinous customer service. WHAT A JOKE!!! Have to drive to Eugene tomorrow morning, so I'm forced to fill my tires with air, which I should not have to do. AVOID HONDA SERVICES AT THE NEWPORT LOCATION! We were staying in Lincoln City and drove to Newport for the day. My truck decided it was the perfect time to have an issue. Drivers back wheel was making noise and smelled... like it wanted to catch fire. I stumbled onto Sunwest Honda. The staff was amazing! They were kind, friendly, and diagnosed the issue quickly. I tried to rent a car for the night, and there wasn't a single car available anywhere. The car rental lady suggested a bus back to Lincoln City....Sunwest arranged transportation for my mom, me, and her dog. It wasn't a bus! I hope the parts come in tomorrow and we get it fixed so I can return home quickly. I feel like I'm in really great hands. Super impressed so far! Thank you Sunwest Update.... they got the part. They had the car fixed when they said they would. The price was the estimate they gave me. The mechanic, Jeremy, explained everything to me in words I could understand. Lizzy, Bill, Jeremy and William (and a guy with dark hair whose name I didn't catch) are AWESOME! They could have upsold me on brakes that I didn't need yet. I can not suggest this business to anyone. We had an issue and took our SUV there. What was initially a quick fix turned into days of waiting for parts. Price going up substantially.. and them telling me they would give me less for my SUV than what I had just paid them to get it running........... My husbad took our vehicle to Sunwest to have the oil changed. We've had our vehicles serviced and oil changed there for 5 years. This visit my husbad waited for his car instead of dropping it off. The service tech "Howie" never lifted the vehicle on the rack. When they said the service was complete my husbad questioned if they ever lifted the vehicle, and Howie said he changed the oil. My husbad paid and got his keys. He drove around the side of the building, popped the hood and checked his oil. It was black. The oil filter was dirty and obviously had not been changed. My husbad went in and asked Roy to come look at the oil and filter. He called Howie over and told him to change the oil. Howie insisted he had, but took the car into the bay and lifted it on the rack. He then proceeded to mock my husband by telling him "see...I'm removing the filter again... I'm removing perfectly good oil" But when he removed the oil he lifted a pan up so you couldn't see the black oil drain. It was ridiculous. Then Roy gave my husbad back all of his money. Howie finished and my husbad left. He drove straight to Oil Can Henry's, just to make sure everything was ok. Get this... they said a regular customer of theirs had their oil changed a Sunwest, and 3 weeks later her oil light came on, so she came to them to check it out. Her car had an Oil Can Henry's oil filter on. They hadn't changed her oil! A week later my husbad went in to tell the owner (or manager) Mike about this horrible and dishonest incident. He wanted him to know what was going on. Mike said Howie admitted to lying, but he was not going to fire him. Mike said tech's are hard to find. We do not recommend Sunwest. We will never ever buy a vehicle there, take our cars there to be serviced, or have our oil changed there again. read more

Took my 2004 CRV in Sept of 2017 for a complete brake job including new calipers. Feb 2019 I'm losing brake fluid, I check and find that the right rear caliper is blown and leaking fluid. Called and talked to Mike at Sunwest and he told me that there is a 12 month warranty on the caliper. I thought most calipers have a limited lifetime warranty. I asked where they got the parts and they said NAPA. I called NAPA and they told me they have several suppliers, one whom sells calipers with a lifetime limited warranty, and the other that only gives a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. The lifetime warranteed part is actually cheaper that the one with only a one-year warranty. So, it appears that Sunwest chose to put a more expensive part in my car, with a much shorter warranty. Why? Probably so they could jack up the parts cost. I cannot recommend this service department. read more

I have done business with Sunwest for over 15 years. I will no longer be doing business with them. Their service department has told me three different times (over a period of 10 years) that I need new brakes, twice on the same car. All three times, I got second & third opinions, only to be told by both, that I did not need brakes. My last visit ended with them handing me a printout of SIX services my car 'needed'. After seeking a second opinion, I discovered I only needed one of them. They lost my business for good! read more

I love this place! My boyfriend and I were on a road trip, driving from Portland, OR to Oakland, CA and the check engine light went on in my old 1998 Honda Civic. We went to the first mechanic we could find and he said he'd have to charge $75 just to run the tests. Since it was running fine, we waited a little. The next day, we drove by Sunwest Honda and stopped to see if they could take a look. They were extremely friendly and one of the mechanics offered to take a look at it in the parking lot. He took his hand held monitor out with him, checked out the car, determined it wasn't any thing to worry about and turned off the check engine light. All for FREE! It really made our day. We stopped in here, they were able to get us in and out quickly with minimal impact on our vacation. Even washed the car by hand and gave us a first-time customer discount. We were sent nation wide recall information from Honda. The information was to contact the local dealership that will help us with repairs and a replacement vehicle until the repairs can be made. When we contacted the local dealership we bought the car from twice, both times the service manager was irritated, rude, and not helpful. He told us there where no replacement vehicles and if there were we would have to pay for the replacement out of our pocket. He also informed us that the recall wasn't a problem for cars in our area and acted like we were just worrying for no reason. We contacted the Honda corporation who informed us that the dealerships were supposed to be paying for the replacement vehicles and a nationwide recall is serious for all areas. The corporation got us in contact with another Honda dealership outside of town. They were able to get us in the next day to pick a replacement car. I have been driving my children around for weeks ( a lot) because I was told by this dealership that there is very little risk. I will never go back to this dealership and I will be finding another place to do all my future repairs. read more

went in with a dead battery. they checked the electrical system and charged the battery. they found nothing and sent me on my way. I paid $49.00. next day my battery was dead in my driveway. My neighbor gave me a jump and followed me to the Sunwest service department once again. this time they told me my battery post was too small for the terminal. they put a sleeve on and charged me 29.00 and sent me on my way. I parked the car in my drive way for 2 days and found the battery dead once again. I called the service once again and asked them so send someone over to jump start my car. 1 and 1/2 hour later a kid shows up and gets my car started. I drove it to the Honda dealer in Hillsboro Oregon 116 miles away. they found a bad fan motor relay that was discharging my battery. the Hillsboro dealer not only found the root cause...they fixed it and now everything is working and my battery is not dead every day. I feel the Sunset service department wouldn't try and actually fix the issue, they took the easy out each time and didn't help me with the actual root cause. I wont go back. read more
