I returned a vehicle after putting a little over 6 gallons in it. It was after hours and I dropped…read morethe key off in the box. 2 days later, I get billed $56 additionally on top of my rental fee. I called this them and told them I am being overcharged and a lady picked up and told me I'd have to call uhaul's 800 number. Makes no sense to report it to uhaul when you are the one I am having the dispute with. I called uhaul. Uhaul is saying that storage 290 was claiming I returned the gas tank on 1/4 but received it almost full. That is literally impossible as I used 90 miles and the odometer shows that. But they're claiming I used that much gas. The uhual lady confirmed their vehicle is about 15 mpg; which adds up to exactly how much gas I put back in the vehicle. I told the lady, how can I use about 150 miles worth of gas in 90 miles? Even when I filled the tank, it wasn't even half way. The uhaul customer agent saw what I was saying made sense. Take a guess what uhaul did? You guessed it; they called 290 storage. The exact same thing I was trying to do in the 1st place. She got off the phone with storage 290 and said the lady kept saying she double checks everything. That doesn't answer the question as to how the odometer shows I used 90 miles but the gas their claiming was used is about 150 miles. So uhaul is now transferring this to their district manager to investigate. I will update my status. Long story short... don' use this place. They tried to overcharge me $56. I will report them to the BBB if I don't hear back soon. Update: Literally, 30 minutes after this review was posted, the owner emailed me and told me she would look into my concerns. About 15 minutes after I got that email, a district manager got a hold of me and did refund me the $56. In talking with him , he did admit that based on the miles I drove the needle shouldn't have moved more than 1/4. I am changing my rating from a 1 star to a 3 star. I can't give it higher than a 3 star based on what occurred but I will give credit to the owner. She was swift in responding and very professional to me and uhaul did correct the mistake.

I would highly recommend using this storage facility to anyone, not just in Katy, but in the entire…read moreHouston metro area! The management team of Coy & Iris are first rate classy people with an overwhelming dose of Southern hospitality and old town Katy charm. The facility may be a bit remote for some, but it is certainly worth the drive, especially if you truly value your storage items - using a great climate controlled facility & 24hr Access -7 days a week. SINCE 2003 I've been using this storage location to store my treasured collection of art & artifacts collected around the world during my travels, 100's of books, volumes of notes from high school, college, graduate school & medical school, as well as my " high tech" stereo equipment & trunks full of clothes. During most of the time i've stored my belongings there i either lived out of state or out of country as a graduate student, medical student, or unemployed not yet licenses physician looking for full-time work. Coy & Iris have often been patient & generous with me allowing me to catch up on months of payments when my student loans came in or after i was able to pickup sporadic contract hospital work. In other words, when most corporate run storage facilities would seize your property from storage & sell it at auction for failure to make payments, so long as i kept in touch with the management they would essentially extend my credit until i could catch-up to make payment. The somewhat remote location also has the benefit of cheaper storage rates compared to many mini-storage places inside the loop. And it has held up very well over the past decade, keeping my stuff well safe of threats from several floods and hurricanes that have effected other parts of Houston during that time.

Do not I repeat do not rent a storage unit from Storage Place of Old Katy. I have had multiple…read moreunits at this facility for almost 5 years. We were among the first renters here. The original managers Coy and Iris were great. The new owners fired them and brought in their own people. Last year. Since then they have raised our rent, shortened the Grace piped for payments and forced us to provide renters insurance or buy theirs. Now they have restricted our access to 10pm. For the last four and a half years we have had 24 hour access. I have spoke to the manager about this 3 times and ever time he lies and says it's fixed. We have a tight knit community of car enthusiasts and other renters and we look out for each other and police the facility. Most of us race or go to car events and most of the time return home late. I had to park my race car with all my race fuel and tools in front of my house after testing last Thursday night. For this reason we are moving out after this month and many more long term renters will be looking for another more customer friendly facility. We have also been told that the management intends to raise the rent over $100 a month by the end of the year. Find some place else to store your belongings.
