A market filled with a variety of specialty items. I've been looking for something like this here, and I am very excited to make another trip here. I walked out with a carrot cake ($4.29) and it was super creamy and delicious!

What an incredibly disappointing experience from this long-time Sunterra customer. Placed an order for over $250 that arrived damaged. One of two fresh mozzarella containers split open, and the milky liquid saturated the entire order of cheeses and Gravlax salmon. Dinner party ruined! Reached out to customer service immediately and even sent multiple pictures. Six messages and one week later, there has been no response! The entire Sunterra customer service team has gone AWOL. I am now forced to file a chargeback with Visa and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Really upsetting!

I absolutely love going to Sunterra for lunch, they always have the best foods. Sunday is the best day to go for lunch because they have a brunch option that is only available on Sundays. They always make their soups, and salads fresh daily and they also have sandwich and panini options too. It's mainly a grocery store, but there is a little section off to the side with tables to sit and eat. They also have a little water jug that's available to customers so you don't always have to pay for a drink.

$8.50 for a generous bowl of soup and a panini sandwich. Good deal for lunch!

Sunterra is a true gem of a grocery store. I wish I was shopping here more often. Firstly, it's a co-op grocery store in that it is made up of the owners of Sunterra farms, a group of individually run farms around parts of Alberta. While they offer high quality meat and foul that are locally grown and humanely treated, they also have a pretty decent spread of vegetables and dairy that are invariably of local origins. When it comes to their meat it really does something to my taste buds. You can feel like you're eating healthier food - trust me! They are a complete grocery store. I believe you could find almost anything that you might need from a grocery store (and yes, I don't consider tylenol pills to be part of that list). A weird and different selection of jams and jellies. Very European in feel, when it comes to cookies, crackers etc. Certainly has that speciality store feel to it, yet maintaining affordable prices that get people to come here again and again. Their cheese choices and fresh/baked foods is also quite inviting. I've in fact got bread, cheese, deli meats and even packed lasagna once and have enjoyed all of them. Often times I'd pick up a coffee at their coffee bar before setting out on my aisling escapade. I agree with other reviews that Sunterra is a little more expensive, but to consider that they're sort of half-way between a Save On and a Planet Organic, and carry that fresh Californian feel to their store - I think it's totally worth the price. But then again, I am someone who would spend the extra bucks for better quality food and to support localness.

Ok, ok, it's a little pricey but some how, worth it. I find that the quality of the produce, deli and meat department are really excellent. I love that in the deli department there are so many delicious, unique and varied options of pre-made salads, etc. The cheese selection is excellent. I love all the super yummy gourmet sauces, crackers, oils, vinegars and other culinary treats that are found up and down the isles. And unlike large grocery stores you can can find everything you are looking for (and more) very quickly and easily because the store is small, filled only with quality foods, no processed, sugar filled U.S. boxed items that are chemically engineered and utterly lacking in nutrients. Sunterra is easily accessible from the Whytmud, with lots of parking and going "green" seems to be quite important to them. They also source quite a lot from local farms and ranchers. There is a little cafe in the market so you can pop in and buy something from the deli and have lunch or dinner. The only thing that I find can be somewhat of a problem is that sometimes they have inexperienced people working in the deli. So, you have to be patient and wait.

I've only ever had Sunterra when a coworker has brought something to share at work, but I got a chance to try the south end location yesterday. I was never really sure what it was all about, if it was a health and organic market like Planet Organic or what. Browsing through the store yesterday, I saw it was more like Sobey's, a high-end grocery store where everything is fresh and top quality. They have a bakery and fresh deli, and an eating area where you can sit and relax, take a break from your grocery shopping, and enjoy some pasta salad or a slice of pie. I sat and savoured my raspberry chocolate brownie; the texture felt a bit hard for a brownie, and it was cold, as if it had been out for awhile. But it was still good, and I'll be back for another soon. The racks of bbq ribs at the deli looked really good too, as did their many pasta salads. It looks like they make their own dips as well, like guacamole, hummus, tzaziki. I like Sunterra, but I find it expensive. Sure, everything's fresh, but the stuff at Superstore is usually just as good. Plus, I wasn't sure about the half-cut grapefruits wrapped in saran wrap in their produce section. Are they allowed to do that? I don't think I'll be switching grocery stores anytime soon. But if I'm ever in the area and the mood for indulging in some quality foods, I'll probably stop by Sunterra again.

There are washrooms quite near; gender specific, many stalls. If you can find somewhere to sit you "claim your chairs" - bring a coat to leave on the chair! - and then go pay and grab food. No waiters. Once you pay you get a stamp and can go get food. Food options included were sourdough pancake, sourdough pancake with blueberries, sourdough French Toast, scrambled eggs, Fruit Cobbler, Sweet n' sour pork, Potato pancakes, Smashed baby potatoes, bacon, sausage, fresh assorted fruit in fruit bowl (all mixed and diced - watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, few blueberries, melons, apple), and freshly carved ham. Also they make omelettes fresh/on-demand. sourdough pancake with blueberries - made fresh on a griddle right behind the counter, no sour taste which I was happy about. sourdough French Toast -no sour taste which I was happy about, really nice bread used. scrambled eggs - a little rubbery for me Fruit Cobbler - some of it was too soggy for me (I don't like that the bread was soggy where it touched/sat in fruit juice). Sweet n' sour pork - nice light flavor, not too tangy. Potato pancakes - a little bland for me Smashed baby potatoes - really well done, loved the crispy bits. bacon - unlimited bacon! but there is a lady who doles it out but she was happy to give by 3 slices 3 different times. Sausage - BEST breakfast sausage I have ever had. Not fatty or greasy. Super nice flavor. Assorted fruit in fruit bowl - Was easy to pick out the fruit you wanted as long as you don't hold up the line. All cut up already into bite-sized pieces. freshly carved ham - really nice, not too salty, not dry. Omelettes fresh/on-demand - my aunt was really happy with hers. Overall 100% would recommend if you don't mind finding your own table, getting your own food, and doing a little waiting in line (there was aways a small line to move though the food). But no one rushes you to hurry and eat or even say there's a 2 hour limit.

There's a lot of parking and the carts did not require coins (quarters) to use. COViD protocols are followed here and there was a person there to wipe down my cart before using. I wasn't sure what to expect cuz google reviews referred to it as a desi store, and their store opening neighbourhood mail out noted it was a south Asian grocer. I was pleasantly surprised that there's a ton of variety here catering to all sorts of Asian groceries as well as western groceries. The building is brightly lit and the produce is plentiful, fresh, lots of different kinds (including Asian veggies) and affordable (I saw no bruising or wilting on the fruits and veggies either). I'd say a large majority of the store caters to East Indians which suits the demographic here, but there was also lots of foods that specifically target Filipino, Korean, Chinese, etc. that would usually be found by going to multiple specialty shops...I'm glad it's like a one stop shop! There were a lot of discounted goods too and some even have stickers with additional savings at checkout; $5 fully decorated fudge cake?... Um yes please!! Honestly, I walked in for fruit and came out an hour later like a bandit! There's even some interesting flavours like fruit HP sauce, or masala smoked chicken deli meat. I am also impressed they sell a good variety of meat skewers and halal meat. They also sell reusable grocery bags if you forget your own, or you can ask for a box which is free. You can also opt to donate $10 for a mystery grocery food bag to be donated to the less fortunate fortunate. I'm pretty pumped that this place is so close to home, it might even become my new regular grocery store since there's so many new things I want to come back to try and add to the weekly family meal plan.
