No Frills is no Superstore and that I like! I like Superstore prices but I don't like the empty shelves and often dirty store. But No Frills had stock in sale items I wanted to purchase and I didn't find it dirty. The produce section had a great variety as good prices. I bought a huge tub of blueberries for $4! Some of the fruit didn't seem so great with bruises but most of it was fresh. Found lots of great buys including canned tuna for 97 cents, chicken drumsticks for less than $2/lb, 6 bagels for $1.67, margarine tub for $1, and other items for $1. Wow, great prices! There are some departments that were smaller than other stores including the meat and bakery. Bring your own bags or you can use the boxes they have. Parking lot is a zoo though, as we witnessed a few near accidents. read more

This quick stop turned out to be a very strange one because I failed to remember they only accept debit and MasterCard at No Frills. No Frills is under PC points so my total came to $13.86. I redeemed $10 worth of points and proceeded to pay with my Debit card to only find out that it had expired!! I dug through all my pockets and bag to find $3.86 but came up 36 cents short!! I have never been so embarrassed! She couldn't even take an item off because she already claimed my points prior to me trying to pay. The lovely cashier actually fronted the 36 cents for me. I definitely will be returning with a nice gift for her. I'm glad kindness still exists in this world. The only negative is them not accepting Visa but the staff would receive 6 stars! I also love how they have discounts of close to expiry foods. Great way to save a few dollars if you are going to eat it right away anyways! read more

Great "tiny house" version of SuperStore! I'm lucky to have this store fairly close to me and for those times when I want the Real Canadian SuperStore experience but smaller and a bit more convenient this is my choice. They have a fairly decent cross-section of popular items that you might find at SuperStore. The downside is that you may find items out of stock more than you would at a full-sized SuperStore. I have noticed a few items to be a bit cheaper here than at my local full-sized SuperStore too. The store is usually pretty clean and the staff very friendly. Some of the things I don't like about this store: 1. The parking lot for this strip mall is small, crowded and frustrating. If you shop here when it is busy best of luck! 2. The roaming employees trying to sign you up for a Presidents Choice MasterCard. In a big Superstore you can avoid them pretty easily but here they always seem to be circling you like sharks after their prey. Pro-tip: just tell them you already have a PC MasterCard and they will move on to the next victim quickly. read more

Prices are decent, but ALWAYS check their produce, especially if it is on sale, and even if not reduced. Have dealt with sour baby carrots, rotten clementines, etc.... not worth it. It's also impossible to get a hold of anyone via phone. Customer service is not helpful anymore, so if you've lost your receipt, even if you know the exact date/time of your purchase less than 6 hours ago, forget it. Disappointing. read more

The first time I went there my first impression was that the Isles are narrow, especially in the produce section and the grocery carts are huge in comparison to the isle size. The selection was small, but this is a smaller store. However, I received what I wanted. My most recent experience (yesterday) was extremely disappointing. This has been a go-to grocery store for me for years. They are typically well stocked, and prices are awesome. I also find staff to be friendly and helpful, which is great when you're looking for obscure items! The biggest downside to this store is the parking lot. It's a gong show and very frustrating, but worth it for the prices in my opinion. read more

This store has saved me $$, gone are the trips to another local save on grocery store, I have figured out for the most part the save on markup is about 25% on their food. When I shop at no frills their shelf price is basically the sale prices being offered at save on, so just by going to both to check items and prices no frills gets my business almost every time. Great staff at both but better prices with No frills all year round. I bag my groceries at both grocery outlets, and have to pay the same five cents either way. I bring cloth bags to save on the environment when possible. read more

I actually never heard of this store before until they recently opened up in the neighbourhood so I decided to check it out myself No Frills is kind of like Superstore -just with less choice. It's not necessary a bad thing because to me grocery stores should focus on groceries and they do that here. Despite the small size, the store is well stocked on the goods from fruits, vegetables to frozen and dairy products. There isn't a deli in store so the meat selection is limited to the fridges but it still does the job if you're looking for deli slices or hamburger patties. Prices tend to be cheaper here compared to Save On Foods and Safeway so that is an added bonus when you want to save. Overall, I'm pretty impressed with No Frills since my first visit and I welcome their stay here. read more

This store is way cool! Brand spanking new and super clean. I believe they cut costs by not having a butcher or deli counter, etc. The fruits and vegetables are fresh and in abundance. And they offer a lot of choices for everything else, but not too much. This is one of my favourite things regarding the store - a little less choice. It always stinks to go somewhere, say Superstore and you have fifty things to choose from (say hamburger buns), when in all reality, two or three choices (for said hamburger buns) is good enough. This particular store also keeps their boxes so you don't have to buy bags for 5 cents a pop...instead, just plunk everything in a box and head on home! The only drawback are the coin carts. I loathe coin carts. I understand the need for them, especially in this area, but still really hate having to remember that loonie for the cart. read more

Just started going here and I'm officially a fan. They have great deals and most produce is good quality, comparable to what you'd find at Safeway but orders of magnitude cheaper (I found blackberries there this week for 1/3 of the Safeway price, and they are PERFECT)! They will price match, so you can always get the best deal. I expected the selection to be somewhat limited, and it is in terms of brands, but I can still find basically everything I want. They even have my favourite portobello veggie burgers that I can never find at Superstore! The one downside in terms of selection is that sometimes you can't get big sizes of exactly what you want, even if it's stocked in the smaller varieties. But that's the case at most grocery stores, and I really can't hold it against them. The store is clean and well-organized. And one thing that I have stopped even hoping for but am so impressed to see: the staff are friendly and helpful in a very real way, not phony or robotic. The prices and quality will keep me coming back, and that staff makes me happy about it. read more

Nofrills doing a great job of pulling customers by pricing less. You almost can't beat them on their pricing . Vegetables and fruits are fresh. This location is medium sized and they actually do a good job in stocking the shelves. A big NO for their meat section. They are not packed right and the meat is not fresh either. You would probably get some better deals on their frozen food sections . Check this place out . You can save some bucks! read more

I like that it's more affordable probably because they cater to students, but their produce spoils within a day or two. I bought cucumbers sold in a package of two and two days later they were soft and mouldy. I shop for produce at Save-on mostly. read more

No Frills has all the basics but usually when I shop there I end up having to make another trip to another grocery store because I've not been able to find something. They have really good deals every week (like $2 raspberries or blueberries) and it's totally worth going there just to save on basics that you'd pay twice the price for at Safeway or Save on Foods. This particular No Frills is in a great location, close to U of A and Whyte Ave. It's definitely worth a visit and you won't find deals like they have in any other supermarket. read more

Terrible customer service. I grabbed a cardboard box off the shelf to place my purchases in, and staff started arguing with me over the cardboard box. Staff told me to leave the store, which I did. I emailed Loblaw's customer service website to make a complaint. Arguing with a customer over a cardboard box - wow. I will never go into that store again. read more

Great location for No Frills. Close to the student population at the U of A and many others between Whyte Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive. Even better for the starving students who don't have to depend on the outrageous prices of nearby Safeway and Save on Foods. I don't come here often, but if I do drop by for something I usually leave with more in hand due to all the deals that are going on. I like it! read more

Overall this place is somewhat limited in it's selection of foods. The people on the floors are friendly though and offer to help. The first visit I got a cashier that had nobody around, no line up yet still tossed my items down the conveyor belt sideways. REALLY?! Then snapped her gum as she asked for my payment. Love No Frills! Great convenient grocery store near Whyte. Definitely one of the most affordable grocery stores in the area without heading all the way to Superstore. Prices fluctuate and are comparable to Superstore. I have compared prices and usually you pay the same or a bit more than Superstore for baseline prices. But the items on sale can be a better price at No Frills. However, if it is on sale at Superstore, it does not mean it is on sale at the Frills. The selection is limited, but it is a great place to grab some groceries for dinner or the week. The customer service is excellent and you never have to wait in a line for more than a few minutes. read more

Before I actually went into this No Frills, I came across to a few out of the city. From the anesthetic physical looks, I thought it had been Superstore. When this location first opened, I took the opportunity to check it out. It's definitely at a great location; close to whyte ave, and perfect for all the students living in that area for convenience. My husband and I shop there every couple days. I'm not a a fan of shopping but my husband loves to. It was chilly out so I went in to see if he was almost done. He was at till so I pecked him on cheek and went to wait outside. A person that works at the store confronted me at the exit and told me if I Wasn't shopping I had to leave. I told him i was on my way out but my husband was at checkout. I was wearing hoodie and my husband's far to big leather jacket.i probably didn't look my best but he discriminated me based on my clothes. I bought produce Tuesday evening and when I went to use it Wednesday at dinner time it was a solid mass of mold in my fridge. Store said too bad so sad because I was over the three day limit. Tuesday to Wednesday is one day, and Tuesday to Thursday is two days. Kept me on hold for quite awhile, too. Pay a little more and don't eat garbage. read more

I went to two separate no frills today, which aren't exactly close to one another. I went to get a flyer deal. After not being able to find anyone to help me at the first location I carried on to the second. I had to ask a cashier if they were out of the product and if they rainchecked their flyer items. The cashier went to go look for me only to have what I assume was a supervisor get mad at her and have to stop looking for me product for me. So i never got my product and was told they don't rain check. What's the point of having flyer items when you can't even get the deal. read more
