I am usually very happy with save on food pharmacy until today. They tell me to come back to get the meds that were owed to me as they didn't have them all the other day. The pharmacist there had to be ask me 3 times as she didn't understand when I said I am here to collect the pills that are owed to me from the other day! Even told her the med and it is on my file that they were not able to give me the full amount. This pharmacist needs to listen, and read the notes on my file. Not happy with this place right now. I wish I could give this ace 100 stars. Qhen I shop there it's a pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and helpful. Theu will even make you handles for light but bully items such as toilet paper and paper towel rather then having to buy yet one more bag. They pack your bags so they are not to heavy and offer to help you outside just because they are kind. The veggies and fruit will last 2 weeks in ypurfridge at least. I can't say enough good things especially after visiting safeway today what a negative experience that was and I'll never go back. Thanks save on for making your store a place I always enjoy returning to and having fresh veggies and fruit and the beautiful cuts of meat I'll always be back cause uts rge best and cheapest cause you don't have to thriw out your fresh veggies in 4 days cause they last. I have no problem with the store, otherwise. The selection is good, staff is good, we love the guy at the meat counter. prices are a bit higher, but you pay extra for convenience, so we've accepted that. My problem was this year, because we got behind on plans, we got the Thanksgiving Meal that they offered and it was not like the photos implied it to be. Six air sealed packages of pre-made food that was probably shipped that way. "Rustic" gummy mashed potatoes, undercooked carrots, vinegar sour cranberry sauce and a salty processed pressed turkey that came apart in chunks. On the bright side, we had plenty of room for pie (that we bought elsewhere), haha! Will not be buying their pre-made meals again in the future. read more

I got no problem with this grocery store. I think the staff are super friendly which is something I always appreciate. There is a lot of parking out front so you're never having to park too far away. I think they have a great selection of lunch foods that can be both hot and cold. Prices for cat food are crazy reasonable here. We usually don't purchase too much grocery store cat food but our cat's new diet randomly calls for fancy feast pate because it is low carb. They literally sell fancy feast pate here for 58 cents a can. That's unreal to me, so we stocked up on that. I think we bought like 40 cans it was so cheap! This location just happens to be very convenient for anyone living downtown. I will of course be back. read more

I used to frequent this Save On more but not too much these days. Recently I came on a weekday evening and it was still pretty busy likely with those who live close by and need to pick up groceries or their prepared foods if they don't want to cook. They have the hot food, salad bar, and lots of packaged meals that just require a few beeps in the microwave. They also have a seating area if you want to eat in. The prices for items are high when not on sale. We prefer some of their steaks to other grocery stores, so I usually pick some up. They have a decent selection of produce, baked goods (I am a fan of their bar cakes!), meats, and whatever else you might need to make a good meal. Although it can get busy, the lines seem to move quickly and there often have a lot of tills open or the self serve area is great too. read more

This is my local Save-On, where I end up buying the majority of my groceries. There's nothing really special about it except that it's convenient for downtown residents whether they're driving, bussing or walking as it's got tons of parking and is along the Jasper Ave bus routes and within a couple blocks from the LRT. Aside from an entire aisle of expensive organic foods and occasional appearances of interesting European candies, this Save-On pretty much does what you'd expect from a chain grocer. Fruits and vegetables are fresh, again with a decent organic selection, but the bakery never seems to have what I'm looking for. If you're in the area, this store will do the job, but don't go out of your way. read more

I have to say - I LOVE the new renovated store. I'm not sure if it is a new concept for Save On, or if they just upgraded it to compete with other grocery stores in the area - but it is fantastic. They've got a great new buffet style section. It's a great idea if you're in the area and want to grab a quick lunch (they've even added extra seating) or if you want to pick up something quick for dinner. No, it won't blow you away as the most amazing meal in the world but the options I've tried are tasty. The rest of the store is bright, more space than before and plenty of friendly staff. An extra bonus is that I rarely have had to wait in line (maybe at 5:00 when everyone is just getting off work... But that's it). Prices are similar to other grocery stores in the area. Yea, you will pay more than Costco but I would say food prices are same/similar to Safeway and Sobeys. Overall a great location to visit downtown! read more

So disappointed. Bought a blade roast (chuck). Slow cook as usual. Tasted spongy and tasteless. Could not eat it. Threw most away. What a waste. Also bought their butter. Put in pan and waited for it to bubble as butter usually does. Never bubbled even though the pan was hot. Both of these items seem unnatural. read more

Local grocery store. They rarely have enough tills open so expect an awkward line up. Still, there's a good selection of items including pre-seasoned meats and a buffet full of hot items. The veggie section is good and the bakery is pretty extensive but it's also very standard grocery store baking. There's not a lot of deals that go on here, probably because there's not a lot of competition close by. There's some pretty weird cashiers too! I usually use the self-checkout to avoid the more awkward of the staff. read more

I have come in to this Save-On Foods several times now. The thing is it is a little bit more of a walk on cold days from my hotel than other stores. However, Once you get there it is worth the walk. This is a large Grocery store,complete with everything you could ever want. It even has a lovely little cafe inside for food and drink. The thing that I have found the best is the cosmetic section. Which of course is the shampoo and lotions and such. I needed some important items and every where else was so high priced. I do not have a Save-on card(which gives discounts) but, the lovely lady in front of me in line allowed me to use hers. That was so very good of her! They have a pharmacy ,as well as a huge cheese and deli selection and bakery. They do not charge you for your bags so that is awesome as well. I could of gone crazy buying all sorts of things. But, then you have to carry them all back your hotel. Great place to come to for your needs when you are downtown ED. read more

If it weren't for this save on, I'd probably eat out almost every night. They produce and veggies are spectacular for the price. They do also have a lot of semi-local grown content being from Alberta or BC. I also really enjoy the fruit tarts they have in the baking section. It's tasty enough to tricky myself into thinking it's healthy which is exactly what I want from a fruit tart. The cheese section here is also pretty extensive for a grocery chain. I could spend 10 mins looking for the right one to try. Although it is a busy location, I am surprised it isn't busier give the population of the area. The parking lot is a mess though. Cars don't have a lot of patients here and pedestrians seem aloof navigating the parking lot. Lots of businesses in the complex. There are absolutely better options nearby like all the farmers markets. However, as far as save-ons go it's pretty awesome. read more

Straight up: This grocery store is more expensive than other grocery stores, even other Save On locations (esp meat... normally Save On is the cheapest place to get chicken with $12 6 packs, but not this location). However, it makes up for the hefty prices in convenience. This is on my walk home from the LRT to my apt after work and while I do own a car and can drive elsewhere, sometimes it's just nice to stop by quickly while walking home. They also have a pretty decent produce selection (especially fruits), quite a good selection of local/organic/gluten free type options, and a nice deli area with some pretty good pre-made salads (I love the roasted corn salad!). Also - it looks like they bought the Quizno's out that used to share the building (along with another store I don't recall), and they're expanding! Hopefully this will mean the selection will get even better. read more

Meh and occassionally booooo. The deli selections are as good as I've found (excluding Sunterra), and are a good option if you need something quick and interesting in a hurry. The ordering system is messed up. The first Tuesday of the month is a busy day (discount day), could not believe how many items were out of stock on a recent Tuesday. If you aren't prepared for your busiest day of the month something is seriously wrong. They are also frequently out of our regular items (I can't be the only one eating Greek yogurt). The meat selection is mediocre and we frequently go to the Italian centre to find items that Save On doesn't carry. The produce is reasonably good, if limited and occasionally looks beaten-up. As a chain, fine - close to home with items sized for smaller households. But have a back up plan..... read more

This grocery store (9th & Jasper) used to be good once with friendly staff and all, but now during the Covid19 crisis, the place is no better than a crap hole. Some of their cashiers are just plain rude and have no manners at all. They would give instructions such as ... don't do this, don't do that, stay there, don't come here, do not leave your gloves on the counter while paying them with a debit card, etc. I mean WTF, it was like shopping in the third world, communist countries. Hell no, I do not recommend this store. Shopping at Safeway is much much much better!!!! read more

This is my regular grocery store. I live right next door so the convenience factor is as high as it gets. That being said, I think it is one of the better locations for Save Ons. The store itself is a bit small, so sometimes they don't have every single possible variety of [insert grocery product here]. I am not a "get everything in one place" kind of girl, because I think that leads to paying more for some items than necessary. For this reason it doesn't bother me that the pharmacy area is particularly small and lacking variety. The produce is generally high quality at this location, and the deli is as well. The bulk isle is awesome. Absolutely more than you would expect and with usually pretty fresh due to it's popularity. They have nice cuts of meat and even live Atlantic lobster in the summer time that they will steam for you as you shop! There are 8-10 (not sure) self check out stations, which I really prefer, and the staff are always super helpful. All in all, this store fits nicely in to my shopping regime. read more

The save on foods at 109th and jasper ave is Raciest the attendant and the self checkouts followed every move I made even me entering investing my debit card and entering my pin she hovered over me.when I asked her if something was wrong she simply said I just need to make sure your ok !!! The self check out were crowded with other people but I was the only one she was watching ... was it because I was the only minority at that time ? Did she think because I was I was going to steel all three items I had? I would never have a need to do that my husband is a Edmonton police officer and I own my own business .. This is my go-to grocery store. There's not too much special about it other than its location. Their deli is ok, but I find the bakery lacking. It's more expensive than Superstore, and I assume also more expensive than other Save Ons that are not located downtown. The only thing I really love about this location is its amazing bulk aisle. I haven't seen one quite as good in a regular grocery store (not including, saying, those stores that do exclusively bulk). Cheap spices and baking supplies! read more

I live on the west end but will make a point to stop here on the way from work. This location offers a wide variety of beautiful bakery options, a lunch bar, and nice deli items. Overall I think Save On Foods is superior to Safeway and Save On in the west end that is larger. read more

Unfortunately I and others go out of my way to save money on foods at Superstore to avoid "Save on Foods"... The prices are way too high...pretty ironic for the store to call itself such. I asked for 2 litres of the milk I like as only high priced 1 L were available...it was not stocked the first several times I checked...I get it at Supestore and don't check anymore...would be surprised if SOF got it and if it would be at the appropriate price... $3.99 for our daily bread (if not on sale) is too high and is not saving on our foods. Everything is priced high... My local supermarket of choice. I have shopped here consistently since 2000. It is a very busy store with a lot of walk in customers. Self-scan is convenient for small orders. It now carries a lot more selection of local products. The busiest shopping day of the week is generally Sundays. read more

This is my neighborhood grocery store that I frequently come to. It is conveniently located on my way home from work so it makes it for easy to pick up a few items or do a big grocery run. I find that the store carries a nice variety of items whether it is organic, ethnic, bulk, produce or locally sourced items and for reasonable prices. The store is fairly clean. Right now there are renovations happening to expand the store so there is a little more disorganization than normal but the staff are very helpful showing where to find where the products are now located. I am always left with a smile from the store greeter wishing me a good night which is a nice personal touch. read more

There is no one checking/manning on the bulk nuts that this two East Indian women just keep on grabbing stuff with their bare hands and munching on it. I called on them the second time I saw it and told them we can ALL do that with our bare hands and spread diseases. That was the only time they grabbed the provided scoopers and didn't touch the nuts. I have tremendous respect for the East Indians I know but these two women are just plain disgusting read more

I prefer Save On to all other grocery stores in Edmonton. There's two locations I frequent, and love them both. Produce, meat, and even the treats. I'm a huge fan of the fresh salad bar at the 109 st location, and the deli is top notch. Save On will always have me coming back for groceries! read more

i was happy to find that my new house is a close to a Save On's but will still miss the friendly atmosphere at the Save Ons at 127th street and 153 ave. Their staff are amazing. Beyond that, the Save On's is a great place for us to shop given we try to focus on gluten free items. There is a lot of hard to find things that are regularly in stock here. read more

The bulk candy & food selection is pretty good! I don't know anywhere else you can get chunks of Bernard Callebaut chocolate. I'm also a huge fan of the dried fruits. I also find the deli at this location is pretty decent, and they have a good cheese selection as well. The only thing that bugs me about this store is that they are SO QUICK to turn everything around after a holiday. Think you're going to get discount candy the day after Valentine's Day, Easter or Halloween? Good luck. Most all Save-On's are fairly uniformed: Great deli and cheese section, nice assortment of seafood, outstanding bulk foods selection and a bigger section for organic/natural foods then most other chain grocers. The one thing that makes this Save-On stand out from others is that it has a salad bar section and an indoor and patio section where you can sit down and eat. And, the salad bar is really, really good! (pssst, and fairly less expensive then a place down the street!) I also like the large selection of flowers and bouquets at the front of the store. read more

I like this location of Save-on. Fruits and Veg are nice, good deli, not bad for the bakery of a chain grocery, meat selection is good, dry goods-good selection, refrigerator foods are plentiful. All in all, I will shop here over Safeway in Oliver and most definitely any day this store beats hands down the Sobey's Urban Fresh on Jasper and 104 street. read more

I first started going to this particular Save On because I worked in the area. It was a convenient place to grab a healthy lunch or dinner and if you planned it well, you could avoid long lines. The deli is the main draw of this location for that very reason. They've got great prepared sandwiches, salads, a salad bar, even individual servings of shepherds pie. The bakery is decent as well, they make awesome cookies that are often on sale. It was also convenient to grab groceries here on the way home from work. I still drop in if I'm in the area. read more

Although the name is a bit deceiving, since it is one of the higher end supermarkets and expensive ones in Edmonton, but the variety and quality of available products and foods are worth it. I like their bread and the wide variety of cheeses. read more

During checkout and signature verification (which is no longer a requirement for Visa credit cards), a self check out afternoon shift staff member was upset my credit card was not signed and seemed quite bothered that I did not want to sign it for security reasons (really, it shouldn't matter since the card is between myself and my bank only). I frequent Save On as it is steps away from my home. I find the prices are extremely reasonable and they generally have a very good selection of fresh produce. I'm starting to learn the ins and outs of the store but not everything is set up the way I'm used to. I don't like the point system, I feel like you could get better value for your points. Weird store with a bit of everything and I mean everything to cater to the up and ups. Low inventory so they were out of what I wanted. What's really weird is the broad diversity of people that shop here, from suits to foul mouthed street people and very multicultural....felt like Toronto. Good store but usually very busy. They put promotional items at the end of each aisle in the aisle which blocks part of it making it hard to negotiate even without a cart...they lose a star for that. read more
