(Note: If customers purchase $10 or more, there's no added card fee. If you pay less, customers pay an extra 25 cents for card.) I arrived at Sunshine Donuts & Water (Montebello) on Friday (around 8:47AM). Parking is simple. There's a medium-sized customer lot. Staff is VERY welcoming and charming. Staff spoke kindly, and Staff worked hard. Staff eagerly answered all my questions. Regarding ambiance, Sunshine Donuts & Water (Montebello) is clean with several tables. There's an ATM machine, and there's a Lotto Scratcher Machine. The location is welcoming. Overall, Sunshine Donuts & Water (Montebello) is a good spot. There's observable effort at this business. I come here almost every week. I love the staff, they are always positive, so sweet and accommodating. I love their Thai tea, Vietnamese coffee and the #14. I asked if they could make me a Thai tea with viet coffee and they did! The #14 comes with ham, turkey, avocado, jalapeños, onions, pickles and tomatoes. They sell everything from gum, energy drinks, fresh squeezed juice, chips, sandwiches, and lotto scratches. This place has been on the news for being robbed over cigs and there has been some petty vandalism on their windows. I don't understand how people can be so cruel. Everyone has a battle you know nothing about. Life is unfair, why do you have to make someone's business suffer? Help out the mom and pop shops! I've been ordering a ham and cheese with jalapeños and iced coffee and let me tell you they are super yummy. I've had far too many ham and cheese and they let you down but this place just knows how to make them! The iced coffee is sweet and creamy. I was super super -almost fainted- hungry and glad I found this place. This small place was crowded with customers. People came in and out non-stop. Cantonese songs were playing when I walked in there. I was the only Asian customer @ this donut shop, most of them were Hispanic. They sell smoothies, sandwiches (pastrami, roast beef), cup noodles, phone cards, lottery, ice cream and even cigarettes. They have ATM machine there so you don't have to worry if you have no cash with you. I got myself my favorite plain sugar donut. It was kinda yum. 3.5 stars!! I've lived in Montebello for quite some time now and have never stepped into this dounut shop until now. Wow! I should have come here sooner! Everything looks and smells fantastic. You could smell the sweet scent of the dough and strong aroma of coffee almost a block away from the street of Poplar. It seems that this place is a local favorite. I saw a lot of regulars come in and the workers knew them by name and what their usual was.I bought, for my coworkers, the variety pack for about $7, and two bagels with cream cheese (which were made fresh, toasted, and smothered with cream cheese just right!). This place also sells sandwiches (which seems great for breakfast or lunch) and are very economical priced (not going over $5), and they also have ice cream and boba teas. I been coming to this donut spot since 2001. Till currently I enjoyed stopping by and picking up my go to fav ham and cheese croissant w jalapeño. This day was a total upset. First off no jalapeño and then to top it all off the croissant was just dissatisfying. My biggest fears came to be when the new owners started to change the recipes and overcharge for it. I get it the pandemic has hit hard but this place just ain't the same. The quality of the product is meh like any other hole in the wall donut shop. What a shame. This is a 24 hour establishment that I've been going to for a couple decades and I loved the fact that I can head down there at 11pm in the evening when I've got that sudden urge for donuts. Most of the time, the service is great and they're really nice, though this is usually during daytime hours. I called earlier to make sure the place was STILL 24 hours and no one answered the phone. I noticed from my townhouse that their lights were still on so I chanced it and headed over.This is the first, I've visited Sunshine donuts in the late evening and I was helped by a male employee who didn't acknowledge my presence because he was busy talking on his blue tooth earpiece. And when he did finally come out to help me, he was still talking on his earpiece so I when I placed my order, I had to repeat myself several times. His demeanor was indifferent. It made me feel like I was wasting his time trying to hurry so that he can focus on the personal phone call that he was on. The customer behind me noticed his demeanor as well. I would have given this 5 stars if it weren't for the employee whose time I apparently wasted. read more

This is a solid donut shop. Donuts are great! I just hate that when you order a dozen it's just that a dozen. Most donut shops give you a bakers dozen but not this one. They don't even throw in a free coconut or orange donut that nobody ever orders or a plain cake. That's usually the deciding factor for me to drop a nice tip in the jar. I honestly wouldn't recommend the boba milk tea or the boba Thai tea. Major thumbs down! I love this donut shop and their wide selection of tasty beverages....when they actually serve said beverages. If you come to the shop around midnight or later, the donut gentleman REFUSES to make the frozen drinks that I love so much. He just responds "CLOSED" in a very angry and hostile manner with no explanation. I think he just refuses to learn. I don't understand why he doesn't want to progress in life. Moral of the story: arrive after midnight and you will be yelled at if you ask for a frozen beverage. read more

I've lived around the corner from this place for years and have never went there...my kids walk there all the time. So at work we have Donut Thursdays and it was my turn to bring them in. So I went on yelp and read the reviews. I have to agree with the other reviews. The young girl working was very friendly and fast. It was so busy in there, and she was able to multi-task. I brought the donuts in to work and they were ALL GONE within 30 mins. The price was awesome. I ordered a dozen donuts and a bagel for less then $10. That's a deal to me!!
