NOT WORTH THE TIME! I am so disappointed in this place. Obviously the owners need to find a new night cook cuz that guy was a JERK! NO LONGER 24/7, closed 12-5 M-Th and still (on the same notice) claiming to be 24/7. Anyway, TWICE I have dealt with this jerk, I stop in for a maple bar. The only donut I like. He's out and responds all pissy like I should have known and when I ask when he will have some- he just throws his arms up and acts like I am being a hassle. 3 minutes (MAYBE) it would have taken for this ungrateful employee to drop a bar and make one fresh. HE WAS STIRRING THE MAPLE TOPPING when I came in! AND the oil was bubbling in the back. I said "when do you think you will have some" and he responded even more pissed off saying "I don't know, maybe 1am or midnight!" Seriously? Your out of bars altogether and your not making any while I see you can?!? WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE & the donuts have been totally dry and not special for a few months now. I will NOT be recommending this place to all my clients and friends anymore. Any old joe-schmo donut shop would be preferred over this place. read more

I love this place. It's been 5 years since I first went here, and I've kept going back! Two things make this donut shop great: the delicious donuts, and GREAT customer service! The shop owner is really nice, although he does not speak a lot of English, you can tell he tries and he is very kind. If you're a regular customer he will sometimes offer a free donut with your order. Lately I haven't seen him much at the front, but I still keep going for the delicious donuts. They always have a good selection/variety, and all of them are fresh and made that day, not like other places where the donuts have been sitting there for days. There is even the "healthier" alternative of donuts without sugar or any type of frosting (those are my parents favorites). I think they even accept special orders. For instance one time I went there was a young woman that asked the man working if he could add extra extra melted chocolate on her donut, and he did very nicely. It was like a chocolate lava donut, and she looked like she really enjoyed that! I thought it was nice of the man to do that. Also, some of their iced coffees taste very similar to Starbucks', for half the price! read more

I haven't been to an actual donut shop in a while, Krispy Kreme is so mainstream I don't consider it an actual donut shop, Sunshine Donut is a small mom and pop shop located in the shopping center right behind the Taco Bell. It was my first time coming here tonight, I was laying in bed playing with my Yelp App when I got the urge to look up Donuts, when I mentioned what I was doing to my fiancé he told me "why look them up, why not go to the 24hr donut shop down the street?" I had to reconfirm this 24 hrs business, did they really stay open 24 hours? Because it was 11pm and I was craving an old fashion chocolate frosted donut. So the deal was that if they were open and if they had bear claws (for John) we would go. Sure enough on the second ring a man answered and sure enough at 11pm they had Bear Claws. So shortly thereafter we were on our way. There was no one else there when we arrived but after I walked in another customer walked in right after us. The man that took my call was the man that helped us. He was very friendly and helpful especially for the late hour we were there. Usually people are asleep at the time, especially in a small town like Nipomo. We ended up getting a dozen donuts because the man working, who was probably also the owner convinced us it was a better deal to buy one more and get three free. We left the donut shop very happy and excited to work our way through the donuts. The donuts themselves were very tasty and fresh. I'm not a big Bear Claw fan but John's Bear claw was delicious!! My boyfriend and I LOVE sunshine donuts. We r frequent customers and have consistently noticed the donut shops night worker is not friendly and lazy. We usually come in after 10pm and occasionally we will go in by 830 when the nice lady is working! Tonight was one of the saddest nights.... We went in... Saw empty trays where donuts should be. I wanted donut holes.. When I looked there were "donut holes" 14 of them fried together.. With no glaze on them. Upset now that I can't get any. So I go with my normal glaze cuz they r they best and NO glaze donuts not 1! So when we ask the guy if more r coming out or when he says no... That's all I have. My boyfriend always says hi when sometimes how r u when we go in and be rarley replies back. The sugar donuts we got weren't bomb like normal... They were crispy. We LOVE sunshine.. Just not the night worker... Its the ONLY business open 24hrs in Nipomo which is awesome and its also never extremely busy at night... Get some donuts out! Say Hi. Bye. These are pretty good donuts. When I was just ordering a few donuts the owner decided to add a few more to make the dozen so it would be cheaper which it have to admit was nice of her. However it would of been really great if she would have told me so that we could of at least picked other than her throwing in her least sellers. Which ended up in the trash anyway. While their yeast and glazed doughnuts are alright, their Old Fashioned, cake, and buttermilk doughnuts are some of the best that I have had. Excellent service! We stopped here for coffee & donuts, not knowing the shop was just about to close. The man working the counter asked if we'd mind waiting 5 minutes for fresh coffee. -- There are not very many employees that would be bothered to do such, especially right before closing. Daughter and I like to do donut runs on the weekends and saw this had a good review, so we checked it out. Not very good. Donut holes were wet, creme filled donut had a weird aftertaste and my daughter didn't even finish her chocolate covered sprinkle and tossed it in the garbage. The tables were dirty and nobody was there. I think their problem is that they're open 24/7, creating less than fresh goods. read more

This is my go to breakfast. I use to swing by for a ham and cheese croissant until i found out they made breakfast sandwiches. I order one once a week. And everyone there is friendly. I live in San Diego and am very serious about my donuts. The calories got to be worth it. I visit family up in this area often and randomly stopped in here late one night. First it's awesome they are open 24 hours. I was desperate and wasn't expecting much BUT wow these are some of the best donuts I've ever had. Seriously top 5.
