Ray explained all the options at our disposal and we chose the best option suited for us. Gameday he showed up early and ready to go. He broke out his Ghostbusters stain detector and humidity meters and toured me around the condo asking relevant questions and recommended great solutions. After showing me around he cleaned the carpets exceptionally and in the time promised. I was very happy to have Ray take care of the carpets. He was able to add me into his busy schedule as an add-on as I had company coming over and showed up with a smile. Ray eats, sleeps, and breaths stain cleaning. He is more than passionate about getting stains out. If there is a stain-testing device, Ray has it. He will tell you all there is to know about the type of stain you have the type of fabric/carpet you have and how the two interact and use the correct product to remove that stain. He can tell you down to the molecular properties of the fibers and the type of stain you have. He will tell you if the stain is unable to be removed, able to be removed, and or the exact % he will be able to get out of the carpet/upholstery, as he knows all the molecular properties of fabric and cleaning products and how they interact with one another. Ray is amazing. My dog had diarrhea poo-pooed all over the kid's carpeted bedroom, dragging her bum-bum in the process. She knows how to add insult to injury. Ray was over within 2 hours of my phone call--after his work, there was no stain nor stench. All of this only took a mere 20 minutes! A bonus--he noticed how our doors squeaked going in/out of the house. I told him I use WD-40 on it every few months; he just shook his head and returned with a magical little bottle of wet grease. He proceeded to remove 2 doors off their hinges, lube them up, and replace them...all gratis. That, my friends, is customer service. I did NOT use this company only had a phone conversation. I definitely understand what people are saying about him talking down and being rude. He talked over me the entire time on the phone then told me it would be at least $400 for a 300 sq foot area which is double the 4 other cleaners I spoke with. After I told him I wanted to call everyone back that I called (which I did) he said "ok so your all set is this something you can't afford?" What I can't afford is to listen to your rude attitude any longer. I called Ray on the Sunday morning of July 4 weekend after waking up to a flood in my den. My washing machine had malfunctioned and flooded most of the downstairs area. Ray was one of the few places open on a Sunday and show up within 30 minutes. He is professional and courteous. He came with all of the necessary equipment and quickly got to work. He removed the water and then the carpet. He provided us with great advice about what to do next. He even called the a couple of days later to see how things were going with the damage repair. If you are reading this you probably already got an online quote from Stanley Steamers (or equivalent). Most likely the online quote looks appealing due to the price. Make sure you read the reviews on the carpet cleaning superstore before you book them! Ray just cleaned our stairs in the South End which is four grueling flights of stairs. It is a real challenging location for any service person and Ray pulled it off and did an amazing job! The price that Ray quoted us was exactly what we paid, not a penny more and none of that up-selling BS that you get with the superstore cleaners. Another major benefit was that after the job Ray left a bunch of high powered fans to dry our stairs and avoided that musty wet smell and defeating the purpose of the cleaning in first place. The ultimate reason I went with Ray was accountability. Since he is the owner and the person executing the work, he wouldn't leave job unless you were satisfied. Whereas when you have some guy come by that makes $10/hour regardless of your satisfaction, that is the quality of service you get. We probably ended up paying about $50 more than the superstore price and I will gladly pay that again, and recommend everybody else does the same. read more

More than that, the carpets are definitely cleaner than they have been after other professional carpet cleaners have been here over the years. Ray was down right amazing and the carpets now are the proof! After many puppy filled accident years as well as however many feet shuffling across our (rented) floor we knew we had to touch things up for the sake of our security deposit. We didn't want to totally cheap out since we still have to live there and all, but at the same time were worried about the cost. Ray gave a ballpark over the phone after I described the place (around 300) and when he came by to do the work, the cost was less, less is always good. He took his time, made sure everything was done right, and the best part really was the fans he left behind. Instead of having to worry about somewhat damp carpet for a couple of days they were almost 100% dry by the end of the day when he came to get them. I can't recommend Ray and Sunshine enough and while hopefully I'll never have use for his services again (I think the dog finally gets the concept of inside vs. outside) I know exactly where to turn when/if I do. read more

Two years ago, our sump failed flooding a finished basement. I had recently purchased new carpeting and called the rug company. They recommended Ray. He showed up in a professional truck loaded with equipment and went to work. He was here working tirelessly for four days moving furniture, removing wet mats under the rugs, and managing all that goes with a basement flood. He saved a very expensive rug and really the day! Our basement has recovered. He called last month politely asking if we wanted the rug cleaned as it's been two years. I said yes immediately and asked him to clean additional rugs in the house both runners and room carpeting. They look Great!! He explained the issues with various spots and removed them all. I am asking him to come back to clean our bathroom and hallway tile and grout lines. I would not suggest this company to anyone. I signed up for yelp just to write a review and I didn't even receive any service! I am upset with the way Ray handled his business through the phone, so upset that I had to hang up. I left a message earlier calling about a rate. I am from Texas there are so many options and this is normal when your calling around for carpet cleaners. Sunshine was the only company that came up in Waltham so I thought I would try them. on the phone Ray talked down to me, telling me that his company only cleans for high end and even asked me if I rent or own. Ray did a great job on the two staircases we have. They were covered in dog fur from the last tenant's dogs, and he made the rugs look new. The condition of the rugs had been really bad. The staircase smelled like a wet dog (and I like dogs but this was bad). As he cleaned them, the water came up black. As I mentioned, they were in rough shape. Now both staircases smell great and there is absolutely no dog odor. They look great too. He was very professional, and there were no gimmicks charging market price. Ray doesn't charge extra for individual services like other places do. He charges a flat fee and was very upfront and honest to us about that, which I appreciated. Other places said they charged $4 a stair, but then I found out that didn't cover everything; the vacuuming, material costs, etc. He also inspected the floors and told us that there was moisture build up in one of the hallways, so we were sure to tell our landlord about it, and maybe save him some money down the road! read more

2nd time we've used Sunshine Cleaning. Most thorough carpet cleaner we've ever had. He goes over each area, tells you which spots will come out, and which will not. A good 2 1/2 hours cleaning. Most other companies we've had are in and out in 1/2 hour (1200 square feet of wall to wall carpet). Ray is amazing. We just used Sunshine Cleaning Systems to professionally clean rugs in a rental unit we have and they did a tremendous job. The first guy we were going to use bailed and I called Ray who fit us in, with just days to spare before the new tenants moved in. He did a great job and when he came back the next day to pick up the fans he had left to dry the rugs, he noticed a few spots that didn't come out and he redid them. I thought that was great customer service and would recommend him. As for the price, I am not sure how they compare. It was $415 for 2 rooms and a hallway, but there were carpeted stairs as well which may have added to the cost. read more
