The reason for our visit was a baseball tournament and sadly we were quite disappointed by the fields. For being such an expensive and historic town, the fields were amongst the poorest we have seen. There is no actual fence to specify the outfield (on one field), no dugout for the players (it's a park bench) with no covering, infield is all dirt and the backstop is maybe 5 feet from home plate. The park itself is beautiful and has plenty to do and offer other than baseball fields.

The location (right on the Taylor River, nestled between Gunnison and Crested Butte), easy access to unlimited firewood, spacious campsites (we had 3 tents between the 5 of us), beautiful scenery, & high level of service from Sam made it for us. Being from Dallas & unfamiliar with the area, we took Sam's recommendation to drive/hike up to Emerald Lake to swim (11,400 ft up!), to do a cold plunge in the Taylor in the morning, and to check out Crested Butte - & all were great fun!

Visitor center has really informative and friendly rangers and definitely stop in to pick up a gift from Colorado! Ranger also let me know a few trails had interpretative education so follow the numbers and he gave me a guide for what each number means. Cool learning experience. State parks in Colorado are self sufficient, so taxes don't support the parks and the state parks reliant on fees they charge. I'd gladly support any state park any day. The views here are mind-blowing and we got to stroll around a bit and our dog also enjoyed the park and trails. We will definitely be stopping in here again when passing through, well worth the stop!

Because we had booked so late, for our four night stay, we were in three different spots 70, 58 and 60. All were very good, but 70-72 are the best with wider spots. Definitely worth the extra cost. We were contacted by email and text as we got closer to our trip, giving us general check in instructions and what to expect, which I appreciated. We arrived after the office closed, but check in was easy with a packet waiting for us just outside the office. This park is well maintained with beautiful scenery and is surprisingly quiet. There were several campsites with dogs, but the owners were good about keeping them quiet. My husband and I walked the park when it cooled down in the evenings and everyone was friendly and welcoming. We even made some new friends who we hope will cross paths with in the future. There is a general store within walking distance stocked with basic non perishable items. The highlight of our stay here was our prime rib dinner at the Ouray Cafe and Restaurant located on the edge of the park. It's a must stop if you're here! We didn't go to the hot spring, but it's a close walk from the park, as is downtown Ouray. This was a great first trip for us and we'll be returning!

We were checked in by a friendly lady who offered me a Veteran's discount. FWIW, currently, the prices charged seemed higher than those on the website, but lower than other soaking options. We brought our own towels and found a lounge chair to hold them. There are several pools and I was surprised to learn the lap pool is not geothermal water--cool city water there. The first pool was 88 degrees and designed for kids. Too chilly for me, but my son spent most of his time here playing water basketball and swimming around. Second pool was in the mid-90s and felt much better to me. I was also able to enjoy the 102 degree (about my threshold for being "hot") adults-only pool. Watching the pools and surrounding peaks as the sun set was awesome. Very nice. About these things were were stoked. We were not stoked to learn upon checkin that the slides had closed at 6pm, along with the activity pool. This info apparently relies on word of mouth--not their website--to know in advance. We'd have come the next morning had we known. Boo. Lame, even. With kids, this place is a winner if arriving well before the slides close. 6pm. You heard it here. Adults only? There are several better options nearby. 3.5 stars

The spot was nice and had plenty of room, the only downside was that the sewer hook up was elevated and near the middle of the site so I had to pull up when leaving to get to it. Since it was elevated I had to use orange blocks and the sewer track to get things working. The rest of the site was nice and the restrooms and showers were clean and worked great. Unfortunately we had to drive down to Santa Fe so we missed the burro fest in downtown the day we checked out, it looked like a load of fun.

It was warm and dry, just what I needed. The bathrooms were immaculate. I was offered a ride to the restaurants in the center of town by the front desk, but I elected to walk the 15 minutes. I recommend this place for anytype of camping especially for the shower/bathrooms. Everyone working there that I encountered was quite pleasant.

The check in process upon arrival was very welcoming. A gentleman even lead us to our camp site and showed us where to park the truck and trailer and where to set up our tent. Later that afternoon, "The Manager" came by and pretty much accused us of just taking yellow tags and writing our info on them, told us we needed to move and was very rude! This set a very bad feeling about our stay. He encouraged the next site to make us move when they were okay with our parking of the truck and trailer. We talked with the other site customer and he was fine with the set up but "The Manger" kept encouraging them to complain about it. A day later we went in the office and the staff were complaining about large trash bags in the dumpster and automatically started blaming it on the "tent camper". My husband spoke up and said if you don't like tent campers then don't have them and that he was a tent campers. This resort is very crowded and the sites are very tight. The PROs the bath house was clean, and the laundry facilities were nice to have available. We left early from our reservations.

What a…read morebeautiful, peaceful, and cozy park-- when we arrived, we went right in to the camp store and rented a kayak and paddle boards-- super reasonable pricing ($20 for kayak, $10 for paddle board, includes life jackets) and the equipment is well kept. The lake was small enough to traverse but big enough to keep us entertained. The surroundings are just beautiful and I even enjoyed paddling out and just laying on my paddle board meditatively. This was a big highlight of our 2wk trip to CO-- Don't forget sunscreen!

Ouray! They call it "little Switzerland". The drive alone could have you hanging on and avoiding to…read morelook over the ledge. When you finally reach the top, down below deep in the valley sits a quaint little town by the name of Ouray. The KOA sits on the edge of town but has its own distict charm and privacy. This is a beautifully kept venue. You drive in off the main road and they are greeting you when you stop to check in. The full service cabins (which is where we stay) are located towards the back area. You have your own individual parking and a stream runs along the back of each of these little homes away from home. They come with their own fire pit, porch and gas grill on the outside which is shaded by a large tree. As you walk in there is a queen bed, kitchenette and a full bathroom. Off to a small room their are bunk beds for the kids. My husband and I enjoy our stay here. The air is cool, there are activities availabe if you choose to particiapte but you can also just enjoy your time in the quiet. We go every year and have never been disappointed!
