A very small camp ground and very lovely. Small sites that are gravel for your RV and your table is on a great patch of grass. Train from Durango comes up daily and is very awesome to see and hear! I've been staying here whenever I come to the area for the last 22 years and absolutely love the place. Everyone there is always very helpful and knowledgeable about the various trails and places to visit in the area. There's plenty of room in the park for any size coach or fifth wheel and room to park a vehicle in front of site. The sites are well maintained and they are pet friendly as long as you clean up after them. The restrooms are very clean and well maintained too. Jeep rental is always a good experience also. They're well maintained and it's a great way to get up in the high country for amazing views. I will definitely be returning here in the future as it is my favorite place to stay! read more

This RV park is an absolute joke. When we arrived, they could not find our friend's reservation, and told him that he did not have a spot. Once they actually took a look at their books, they found the reservation and it was booked wrong as they shorted our friend two days. He now has to move spots in order to stay for what his original reservation should've been. One of the staff made a snide comment, stating that "we are lucky that we even got a spot". We booked this spot a year in advance and paid for it, so I don't know how luck is involved in this situation. We had two friends pay a deposit for the first night, and the park charged them full price above and beyond the deposit. If my husband didn't catch this, our friends would have paid twice for for first night. The bathroom/shower area smells like a septic tank, and is not very clean. We went to Telluride for a day and had our friends watch our dogs. Apparently, one of the dogs was barking (off and on), and the management decided to repeatedly knock on our door to rile the rest of the dogs up. The dog barked during the day, not night, and rather than just speaking to us to find out that our dogs were in fact not left unattended as our friends were looking in on them, the "management" left us a very unprofessional note and highlighted the very rules that we have been following. They also highlighted where it says that they will evict us without a refund. It should be noted that there are several dogs in this RV park, many running around without a leash, and barking inside/outside of people's trailers. Also, noise does not appear to be an issue in this park if "management" is making the noise. At 9am we were enjoying our morning coffee and conversation when a lawn mower started up right outside of our window to mow their mud pits that they call grass. Also, the "management" runs a very noisy pressure washer outside of our window in order to clean off their jeep rentals. The management was also okay with our neighbors' generator running throughout the evening. The staff are very rude, not accommodating, and I will never spend my hard earned money at this place again. read more

We've been staying here for 12 years. We won't be staying again if we can help it. It's gone down hill, trash piles up, they changed their hours for laundry so you can't ride the loop and come in during the day. Their pet policy is getting our of hand, they allow first to just walk around with their pets and let their pets do they're number in your camp site. The guest don't give a crap that they are doing it. This park use to be great, but unless we have to, we won't be back! read more

Very clean RV resort. Grounds and facilities were clean, owners wife was really friendly and helpful. We were in truck campers and felt a bit out of place but most of the big rig RV'ers were friendly. The only thing we did not realize before booking was there were no fire pits. 5 days in town (raining most of the time) made it kinda rough since we were outside most of our time at camp. Propane fire ring rentals (like a lot of other Colorado campgrounds offer in fire sensitive areas) would have made a huge difference. read more

Don't waste your time, people have no idea how to manage a 30 spot campground. Very rude to guests have no idea what they are doing, crappy sites with dirt and gravel and if your lucky you get grass. They couldn't manage to put 2 travelers together even though there were plenty of spots together, but lied and said they were full they were not. So we went next door to Red Mountain RV and cabins and got 2 spots together the owner is great very accommodating, would stay here again. read more

i had to cancel my reservation for medical reasons. we gave them more than a month notice. they would not refund us of 59.00. i canceled 8 other parks and no one charged me anything. better read their policy. better yet, don't go there. they will charge you the whole reservation. we would have had to pay 1000.00 if we couldn't make it. read more

Just stayed a week here and it was very close quarters. They have gravel and grass spaces, but you are not allowed to put any mats down on the grass. Very frustrating when it rains. The grass wasn't even very full and patchy. I got yelled at from the gentleman that works there for pulling my razor into the empt spot across the street during the time we were parking the RV. I had to move razor in order to park. Once the RV was parked, it was moved in front of our RV, I was not planning on leaving it in the empty spot. Also when purchasing the spots a year ago, we were suppose to have 50amp plug in and only receive 30amp stops. The WI-fi was horrible and told us when we checked in to not stream or download. That is how we watch movies and Hulu. Ended up getting a hot spot through my phone. If you plan on coming with a big group, don't stay up past 8pm. Quiet time is 10pm and we were scolded and threaten that the cops were going to be called because our music was to loud. That was at 8:45pm. We agreed the music was to loud and turn it down, but we were also told we talked and laughed to loud. So if you love retirement and RV parks that pretty much shut down at 8Pm, this is your spot and I do not recommend large groups staying here. read more

We recently stayed several days in this park. Nice spaces, full hook-ups including cable and wi-fi. The management was very nice and so were the people we met while we were there. Alot of the people there come every summer. They have nice clean restrooms and showers. Laundry facility also available. We would stay here again. They also rent jeeps but we brought our motorcycles. I wasn't super impressed with this campground. It's one RV stacked on top of another. When we went to check in they said that you weren't allowed to leave your dog in your camper. We travel in an RV so we can do so with our dog. So what, we can't go out to dinner or go shopping because we aren't allowed to leave our dog in the camper? Not cool. We went to Silverton Lakes RV Resort instead, who were very accommodating. Oh, and since we only gave Silver Summit 24 hours notice, they charged us a one night fee. They require 2 weeks notice. read more

My husband and I stayed here for a few days as we explored Silverton and did some off-roading in the area. The sites are fine - nothing special and fairly cramped together, but are clean and serve their purpose well. Initially, we had no real specific praises or complaints. The host couple that helped us upon check in was very friendly, helpful, and informative about the recreational opportunities in the area. We were a little frustrated that the laundry facilities close early; the last load needs to be started by 4:30 (the facilities are in the office and close when the office closes). Probably like most guests, we're not around at that time to be doing laundry - we are out enjoying our day. We'd specifically planned on doing laundry at this location during our 2.5 week trip, so it was a bit of an inconvenience (the hour restrictions are not posted anywhere on their website, at least, not that we saw). Anywho, not really that big of a deal - we figured we'd make it work. What prompted this review was our experience upon departure. Upon check in, we were told that their septic system is old and a little sensitive, and that we could either hook up at our site/trickle in as we used it, or we could dump in full at the end of our stay at their dump station. This was totally fine and we opted to dump in full at the end. The problem occurred when we loaded up, pulled out of our site, and drove to the dump station. The campground host (NOT the same as when we checked in) was fixing one of their rental Jeeps in the driveway to the dump station, blocking access. My husband politely asked if the gentleman would move the Jeep so that we could utilize the dump facilities. The man curtly responded that we should have dumped at our site. My husband explained that upon check in, we were given the option to use the dump station; the man repeated that we should have dumped at our site and he refused to move. We ended up going back to our site and backing in again to dump. The man was rather discourteous and unfriendly; we were also fairly surprised that he seemed comfortable with denying facility access to campground customers. It was a pretty disappointing way to end our stay there and would be hesitant to recommend the campground to anyone else. As a side note, after our stay at Silver Summit we stayed a few nights at Eureka Campground, about 8 Miles down the road and part of an old mining town. It is a dry campground but nestled among pine trees and with beautiful views of the mountain walls. The sites were nicely sized, had fire pits, and it was overall much more picturesque. The gentleman who helped us check in was super helpful, friendly, and accommodating. If you don't mind no hook ups and being outside of town, we'd highly recommend Eureka. read more

Do not rent a jeep from these people! God forbid you try and cancel your rental! We got attitude from the owners when we ASKED about their cancelation policy. We later decided we weren't able to do the jeep trip we had planned and called and asked if there was any way to cancel last minute (it was a busy holiday weekend) so we wanted to see what they would say. The male owner said, "it's not my problem" With a nasty attitude. So we just held on to the reservation and they told us if someone was interested they would rent it to them and not charge us the cancellation. They then called saying someone with a 2 door wanted to trade for a 4 door (which was what we had reserved) and instead of renting to them they wanted to see if we could trade them and save us a whole 10$. Yeah right. So we went to pick up the jeep the next morning to just use around town since we were going to be charged anyway. We were immediately met with a nasty attitude from the male owner again. I politely told him that he could have said I'm sorry that's just our policy instead of telling us it's not his problem. To make a long story short, the male owner called us clowns and told us to F off because we told them we weren't going to let them charge us and rent the same vehicle out. (Double dipping) so we left with out the jeep and they told us they wouldn't charge our card. So we will see whether or not they do..... To me the couple who owns this place is not into their business anymore and could care less about customer service. With few other places to rent from in silverton they know even with bad customer service they can still rent their jeeps. Its sad for customers coming from out if town to enjoy the beauty of this place to be greeted with such nasty attitudes. Tip for the owners: If you don't enjoy what you do and your business, please sell it and move on. If you're looking to rent a jeep in silverton, please go anywhere but silver summit! read more

We rented a Jeep from them for 1 day to do the Alpine Loop. It was a 2 door with a rag top and my only negative comment would be on the windows on the doors. We could not see out of them so our choice was to leave them down and see (and freeze part of the time) or leave them up and not see very well. Next time I would get a 2 door with the hard top so we could have roll up windows. The Jeep ran fine and everyone and the dog, Hank were all very friendly and helpful. We moved from our space as a result and just slept in our small camp trailer in the park but not in a space. Received a refund before we left the next morning. read more
